Richard was brilliant at a time where mortgage rates were changing almost daily, he dealt with numerous phone calls/e-mails from me per week without complaint and kept me updated constantly with prices and the best mortgage provider. He was professional, knowledgeable and polite and was brilliant throughout, got us a great mortgage at a great rate, if it wasn’t for Richard my mortgage would be at least an extra £100 a month if not more. Sam was very sensitive regarding my husband cancer appointments and never disturbed us during appointments and always checked how we were after. If we wanted to revisit home we were buying Sam always went out of his way to organise time suitable to us. He is a very warm professional young man whom ocean are lucky to have. Also Tanya gave us updates every Tuesday and listened to any concerns and dealt with them. Things went very smoothly from beginning to end and definitely recommend them.

After what can only be described as a harrowing experience with Goodman & Lilley (G&L) in Henleaze last summer which ended in an aborted sale, we turned to Ocean in Westbury-on-Trym just before Christmas to help us sell our home. It’s fair to say we were physically and mentally exhausted by then and extremely stressed/anxious when we relisted our home with Ocean. However, it quickly became clear that Ocean were very, very different from G&L. After hearing about our experiences last year, Ocean were determined not to let us down and vowed to get us through to completion this time around.Being honest, we were probably not the easiest customers Ocean had ever had, purely because of our awful experiences last year which eroded trust and tainted our view of estate agents in general. Because of our high stress levels, we really did need a lot of support in terms of frequent communication and relaying information promptly to us. However, Steve and Melissa (and also Tim, their professional photographer) gave it their all. They were always positive and genuinely complimentary about our much-loved 1920s home. This of course then cascaded down to potential buyers viewing our property. With some key suggestions from Steve regarding presenting our house a little better and with some fabulous photographs from Tim, we received two offers in days. We struck gold with a lovely couple who fell in love with our home.Once an offer was accepted Ocean sprang into action (especially Melissa) and continued to work hard to keep the process going until we exchanged and completed. Ocean worked hard as a team, from start to finish, to get us through to completion and for that we are very, very grateful to them all.If this alone has not persuaded you to ditch other estate agents who talk-the-talk but don’t walk-the-walk, and go straight to Ocean then perhaps this will. We completed (yes, completed with cash in our bank account) on our house sale in 10 weeks flat. This was from initial viewings to completion date. We appreciate this is quite extraordinary and that we did have very keen, dedicated buyers and a relatively small chain. However, this quick turnaround must still be commended and shows what can be done when all parties pull together and are 100% committed to the process going forward as quickly and as smoothly as possible.Very well done Ocean Westbury-on-Trym, we highly recommend you and wish you all the very best this year, and in the years to come. Brilliant experience from start to finish.From being shown houses to collecting Keys, Oceans were amazing. When looking for houses, Matt had the hardest job. That being said he was patient with us, he did insist we view a house, even though I wasnt keen due to viewing online. Matt told us we needed to view and not go off photos.. im glad we did as now we live in that house! Oceans communication through our long and complicated process cant be faulted. They always kept us up to date with any progress and we didnt have to chase them once (which was a first in our chain) Lovely team, cant fault them, highly recommend.

We chose Ocean because they successfully sold our parent's house and provided a good discount. Perhaps because we had a good discount, they stopped caring or making an effort to sell our house. The photographs taken were not very good. The viewings were poorly organised. Sometimes we would receive a text, giving us less than 24 hours notice. Sometimes we would get a call or an email, never consistent. Their method of cancelling also wasn't consistent, to the point that they didn't notify us on one occasion that a viewing had been cancelled in advance, leaving us to wait for the viewer to arrive but they never did. Apart from Dom, who was helpful and would always call, none of the rest of the team would call us to notify us of any updates. There was never an apology for any issues or inconveniences caused.In the end we decided to part exchange on a property. Despite the terms being very clear in our contract with Ocean (that we would not be charged their agent fee unless we were still within the contract period or if we sold privately through a buyer introduced by them), Ocean demanded that we would have to pay their charges in full. It was only because we agreed with our developer to continue using Ocean did they drop this. Very disappointing. We would not use Ocean again.

With regards to viewing notice, in a busy market, we will of course attempt to accommodate potential buyers who wish to view within 24 hours, we therefore alert sellers by text as soon as possible. Other viewing requests may allow for less urgent confirmation and would therefore be made by either telephone call or email. We were unaware of a prefered method for yourself but apologise for any confusion caused. Please accept our belated apologies for the 1 cancelled viewing, it is unclear at this time which of the circa 30 viewings this was. We were of course were working under additional pressures due to the Covid-secure precautions and this may have been a factor.It is unclear or known to us what inconveniences were caused, please contact us directly if you wish to discuss further. Your part exchange does not affect our contractual agreement, your sale & onward purchase retains the first time buyer introduced by Ocean estate agents, there is absolutely no contradiction to the legal contract. Friendly, approachable, reliable and upbeat (even after months of showing our home).There was a misunderstanding originally with Ocean regarding the commission percentage as I had obtain their details from an online portal which meant there was an extra fee involved (GetAgent beware!).I also queried the advice given when it came time to reduce our price - the advice was to reduce the price in £50k increments, but we reduced it by £25k once and that seemed to do the trick.Ocean's legal team were very efficient.

Despite repeatedly asking about viewing availability this Friday, your agent avoided answering this simple question. Instead, he spent 10 minutes asking irrelevant questions about mortgages and my property search timeline, even after I confirmed having spoken with a mortgage advisor and knowing my borrowing capacity.Only after wasting considerable time did the agent finally inform me that viewing wasn't possible. This unprofessional behavior and inability to address a straightforward inquiry is concerning.What a joke!Reply to reply:Thank you for your response and for taking the time to review this matter. However, I would like to clarify some key points regarding the situation, as there appear to be misunderstandings on your end.Firstly, the “no show” incident occurred because I never received any confirmation for the requested viewing. Without a clear confirmation, it was impossible for me to know whether I was expected to attend. In fact, I only received a call at the time of the scheduled viewing, during which I immediately explained that I could head over right away, though I would need approximately 15 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately, the agent informed me that they could not wait, which was the only reason I did not attend.Secondly, I would like to emphasize that the property I was inquiring about was not the Airbnb property you referenced in your response, but an entirely different one. Despite my attempts to clarify this distinction, the agent did not seem to acknowledge or address it. This miscommunication has now resulted in undue blame being placed on me, which I find both unfair and frustrating.I trust this provides clarity on my perspective and experience. There was a hiccup with the cleaning and Charlie arranged for the apartment to be professionally cleaned, it was spotless with all the carpets shampooed.Ocean provided excellent holiday cover over the Christmas period as when Charlie was on leave, Keith kept the process going and was available for help. This was in contrast to our buyers solicitors when everything stopped whilst the solicitor was on holiday, which could have resulted in losing the rental.We would be happy to recommend Ocean Lettings.
