Plain sailing with Ocean!

Dealing with one office for estate agents and solicitors all in one place where they also communicated easily with each other made everything easy. The software used by both parties were also very good. We knew about viewings, times, dates, clients & 2nd viewings. But the staff also kept us informed. We felt they listened to us. They were knowledgeable and patient. The legal side alsoHas a good software that we could log intoTo keep up with the status of the proceedings. I worked with Ocean Bishopston to sell my flat and even though it was sometimes a bit unclear as my agent changed part way through i was very happy with the comms and care after that. Also, the photography is excellent. Melissa was great and kept me informed throughout and i also felt that she genuinely understood and cared about the stress sellers and buyers are under. Debbie West, who was the move manager, was an absolute rock. She was the magic that made my sale and our complex purchase line up smoothly. It did not feel like there was much integration with Ocean conveyancers who sometimes had info later than Debbie and I and at one point it was Debbie’s proactive approach that progressed some miscommunication on the legal side. I felt like she cared for all parties involved. She was a real do-er, had a personable approach and was good humoured. I was surprised that the conveyancing process and estate agent side of things was not as efficiently lined up compared to how it was sold to us, hence four instead of five stars.The lawyers on my buyers side as well as our purchase side were reachable by phone and tended to respond swiftly, whereas Ocean Legal is pretty much email only and there is little guidance and a strict hierarchy system which means you will never get to speak to the actual conveyancing lawyer listed on your portal for trickier questions. The legal assistants on the different cases were friendly and professional, but it did not feel like there was a relationship, more a process to get through. So i would absolutely recommend Ocean estate agents Bishopston to sell, but if you are a person who likes to be proactive about the legal process and understand the why and how and have the option to discuss options, then you might get a bit frustrated with Ocean Conveyancing who sometimes made us feel like we were bothering them.

I had the pleasure of being showed round my now beautiful home by Melissa, she was warm and friendly whilst also being professional and knowledgeable about the property - I had been searching for a house for nearly 2 years and I have to say Melissa is one of the best estate agents I have met! I went to view the house a couple of times before completing and any additional queries I had were quickly acted on and resolved. Throughout the buying process Debbie was the liaison manager between all parties, she was responsive, always kept me up to date and no ask was ever too much. To top it all off, on the day I got the keys I was greeted with a package of goodies to have in my home! I would work again with Matt and Debbie in a heart beat. Matt really helped us secure the property we wanted even though there were multiple bids. He wasn't a smoozy real estate agent at all, which my husband and I really appreciated, but felt very authentic so was a delight to deal with. And Debbie was our contact for all the buying details and was very communicative. She was always available for queries and answered any question we had quickly, so we felt in very safe hands.

The staff were always friendly, polite but I think that the online communication especially when 2 clients needed to receive separate communications were not both informed . Being an older generation its hard to adjust to this online technical way of doing things and not always understood and I think the younger generation should take this into account. It lacks the personal touch of traditional methods . . There also seemed to be a lack of communication between in house agent and lawyers

The Ocean Experience is a Breeze

I began the process of selling my flat with getting three different quotes. Of those, Ocean came out on top for both quote and professionalism. I initially met Matt, who talked me through the process and put me at ease about how it would move forward. Within days Matt found me buyer. From then on, I had the experience of liaising with different Ocean staff, from Ollie to Mike and Nicola on front of house, all of which are superb. I would especially like to say, how I found most useful, being able to call and speak with Nicola, who keeps the whole process glued together. At a time when situations can become challenging and stressful, Nicola is there on the end of the phone and always reassuring. Other estate agents do not offer this level of service and is most helpful. To sum up, I found the Ocean experience a breeze and all staff extremely professional. As a result my flat was sold within five months. Thank you Ocean very much indeed.

Finally got through 2.5 hours to be rudely told the property is fully booked (shock). We all know the lettings market in Bristol is crazy, but is there a need to be so rude?

I now feel drawn to rent and then purchase in this area trusting Melissa would help me find a home at the right time. Although, I'm not in a position to buy yet, this didn't dampen Melissa's enthusiasm and eagerness to answer all the questions I had. Quick sale, but long wait to complete!

Andy was friendly, helpful and didn't rush me to put the house on the market after the photos were taken. There was very little feedback from Ocean from those dozen people who visitedt our property so no idea whether first time visit, or a repeat. House sold quickly, at advertised price, but buyers after surveyors report wanted to knock £25,000 off the price. I felt the agreed price by Ocean was fair, but felt a lack of support and enthusiasm to push the buyers into paying the amount I'd agreed on. After months of waiting for buyers various reports, they still wanted £25,000 off for no good reason. When Julie was there, I felt she was fully on my side, and after weeks of stress it was finally agreed at £10,000 less than original asking price, which included an estimate for a chimney problem I had offered to pay for at the beginning. Laura had a tough job with the conveyancing both with the buyers and our sellers, and did an excellent job in the light of so many difficulties.

Very helpful move manager

Our property sold very quickly, so I can't comment too much on that side (except that Sam and the team were very friendly and helpful in all communications!). But the real star for us was our move manager Sadie. We had a long chain (5 houses), where we were in the middle, and Sadie was great at chasing all the solicitors and keeping us informed of the progress. Unfortunately we had a last minute change of dates, and Sadie was key to getting the new date agreed quickly, and as completion approached she was keeping an eye on things for us even on a day off, so truly went above and beyond! We would definitely recommend Sadie and the whole Ocean team.
