My wife and I have experienced the very professional way in which Roberts lettings have conducted themselves over many years dating back to 2005. We have recently experienced their considerable ability to sell on our behalf too. Nothing was too much trouble and a successful conclusion was achieved in a time scale that worked well with us.We would not hesitate to recommend Roberts for both sales and lettings, first class service, keep up the good work. Absolutely terrible! Paid a mad amount of admin fees etc prior to moving into a rented property. A few months in to living there the upstairs bedroom began to leak. It was leaking brown water onto my housemates belongings ruining many of her possessions. We reported this via numerous phone calls and emails with photographs. We continued to report it for the next 4 weeks and were continually ignored. The most that happened was a maintenance man turned up completely unannounced to look at it - resulting in me very nearly missing a train I had planned to catch that day. He walked in, touched the ceiling and said "Yeah you've got a leak in the chimney breast." and left. A few days later we received an EXTREMELY patronising email basically saying that the leak is probably our fault and if we want someone to come and fix it we have to pay £35. A few days later I sent an extremely long email complaining that by law we did not have to pay this money. Later that night it leaked down the chimney breast, on to the boiler and caught fire in the night. 2 fire engines and numerous firemen arrived to put it out. We have now been without water/toilets/showers/oven/heating etc over night and all day and our kitchen is still completely unusable. The house stinks of burnt plastic and smoke. Roberts are continuing to patronise us and completely avoiding the fact that they have put us in great danger with their incompetence. We then asked for the name/address of our landlord and they refused to give it to us. Probably because they know they haven't told him the truth about them ignoring our reports of a leak.

Absolutely inconsiderate!!! They are among the worst agencies in Bournemouth, if not the worst! I had two viewings arranged with them, in different times, and I got stood up both times. They do not even take the trouble to call you and apologize, and when I went to their office the second time, the agent replied very indifferently that they did not have the key! I told them that they could call at least and cancel the viewing, and their response? "Sorry!" Like this answer can compensate for my time and my office hours lost!

Agents at roberts helped my children and I when we were struggling to find a long term rental we could call home they fought our corner and now we have been here, in our home for three years and just renewed our tenancy further. responses to issues have been helpful and prompt thanks to their communication with our equally lovely landlady and landlord. we could not ask for a better agent and would highly recommend them for people who just want to find the property for them :)

Where do I start... Last year was an absolute nightmare renting a property through Roberts. I am a student and the last thing I needed was to spend so much of my time chasing up an estate agents about problems with our house. We had so many damp and mould problems and then every time it rained, it pissed straight through our conservatory and flooded the floor. Despite ringing Roberts every day, it took them 65 days to get someone to come and treat the mould problem- which was ridiculous; as several of my housemates were actually getting ill regularly. Roberts then gave us a dehumidifier and told us that the damp was our fault for not using the heating correctly. This was so patronising, as we had our heating set up correctly for 2 hours in the morning and then again in the evening. We also had our windows open regularly! Roberts also printed out a pointless pack on how to deal with mould- despite the fact that all they had to do, was send someone round to treat it. Also, THEY NEVER EVER EVER EVER respond to emails. I would send an email and it would take them a week to reply, or they just wouldn't reply. In addition to this, when they finally told out landlord that work needed doing to our house, they never contacted me about when builders were turning up to the house. So I would wake up and strangers would be in my kitchen... It just seems as though Roberts are just doing favours for the landlords, by not forcing them to do work to highly neglected student houses. So if you are a student...DO NOT GO NEAR ROBERTS!

I was absolutely astounded as to how badly a letting agent can actually treat tenants. All nice and smiles to get you into the property but once in, nothing. We went 3 months without being able to use our bathroom as it leaked and destroyed a £3000 kitchen renovation in the flat below. Emails and calls were ignored. We were flat out lied to. I got to the stage of recording phone calls, then visiting the office and admittedly having fun at their obstinate denials of having said things in the face of their own recordings. I am appalled at the customer service, I have experienced some poor customer service in my time but rarely are you actively LIED to. I was told over the phone that their maintenance guy was on holiday only to drive down there not 10 minutes later and find him in the office. *EDIT* I have had to edit this review as I have been threatened with legal action due to the comments made within. I don't think I have been unreasonable in the slightest but there we go. So much for free speech.

The rudest staff and treatment of a tenant I have ever experienced. I received a text from a random number informing that they had a arranged a viewing round my apartment under the 24 hour time frame without saying which estate agent it was and without leaving any contact details. The number I had been text from didn't respond to calls either. I had to call around the estate agents as the property had been put up with more than one before I found out it was Roberts. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and when I said I was unhappy with the way I had been treated, she just said "that's how we operate." Not at all professional, please do avoid.

I found Roberts to be accommodating and friendly. They did not try to show me properties I was not interested in - unlike some estate agents, they actually listened and I was given a list of suitable properties to let. At a convenient time (to ME) I had several viewings and had decided on a property for my family and I. I found the staff to be confident and competent in what they do. I would recommend Roberts to anyone looking to rent or purchase a property as I have had no issues at all.

Do not ever use this company! They are unresponsive and utterly useless. If something goes wrong and you need maintenance they will do little to nothing to help, and force you to chase after them day after day and beg them to do something about it! In the past we have been left 6 weeks without a washing machine, we were not compensated for the launderette bills, weeks without central heating and then their "fix" was to turn it on permanently effectively boiling us alive, failed to replace the dishwasher after months of complaints - had to replace it at our own expense, refusal to remove trash left on the property by the landlord, we have currently been 1 month without a shower! Just don't even bother.

I've read the reviews posted by others here & though I sympathise with some of them, I'd like to add my four penny's worth. All I can say is I'm a landlord for a property in Winton,& I use Roberts to help find me Bournemouth Uni students to let my property to. I personally find them very helpful & professional, yes there are charges but there is no such thing as a free lunch. I do pride myself on being fair an honest in my dealings with my tenants, to which I find pays dividends & I get good recommendations from them. I hope this redresses the poor reviews a little bit. As always there are two sides to a story.

I am not a big fan of estate agents believing they get well paid for doing very little. However due to the circumstances of needing to sell my recently deceased father in laws house whilst I and my brother in-law were to be out of the country we had to employ one.I didn't know an agent but Roberts were local and had more boards out than the other local agents. Our dealings were with Paul Penny with whom I had many contacts by both phone and email in the following months.Paul acted as a liason between ourselves our solicitors and the purchasers keeping us updated by email whilst we were out of the country. We were impressed with the enthusiastic way the staff at Roberts worked the completed sale taking less than 4 months which included time over the 2013 Christmas period.

Roberts Residential are brilliant agents, I cannot fault their professionalism and attention to detail. Overall they have been lovely people to deal with from our initial enquiry to letting the property.

Do not rent with this terrible company, they will just ignore any problems within the house and find ways around anything. For example, our house came with a tumble dryer, it was listed on the inventory and everything, it broke and so they took it away without any word of warning, and refuse to replace it or fix it, so we now just have an empty hole in our kitchen. They also took rent out twice in one month, sending our account into overdraft, it has already taken them over a week and still nothing. This company is a disgrace and should be written off!

As a joint executor we had to sell a beautiful house which had lacked love for many years. Roberts were extremely helpful at all stages in the protracted sale. Their knowledge of the market, their advice and guidance to both sellers and buyers was thorough, professional and timely resulting in a happy solution. I would strongly recommend Roberts Estate agents to anyone wishing to buy or sell property in the Bournemouth area.

Most incompetent staff I have ever encountered. Maintenance issues went unresolved for months on end. Viewers (along with estate agents) would turn up for unscheduled viewings. A stressful experience from start (contract signing) to finish (dispute re deposit)! Read negative reviews beforehand so hold some responsibility for my bad experiences, so am writing this one to those who may think that its worth persevering with Roberts, it isn't! Save months of hassle and find someone else.

Hi Ben Ben, perhaps you could let me have a bit more to work with here? Were you a tenant or vendor as my staff don't recognise having dealt with you at all. Also, if you could give me the exact detail of your complaint I could look into this for you too

I recently purchased and sold a property represented by Roberts and was extremely pleased with the level of professionalism, attention to detail and overall friendliness of all the staff. This transaction was made difficult by various property management companies, but I found that the Operations director, Paul Penny, tireless in his efforts to smooth the way for me, my purchaser and my seller. I have no hesitation in recommending this company..

Roberts have been a reliable, straightforward agency. Every time there was a problem, for example, needing a new fridge, new set of drawers, it was resolved within a couple of days. Phone calls are returned, most of the deposit returned and compared to agencies I have dealt with in the past over all a real decent agency! I would use them again in the future for a student house share.

Terrible. We arranged to view a property and no-one turned up. We called the agents and they said some crap about being bogged down with office work. If they had sent a quick text that they were too busy to do the viewing we wouldn't have wasted 2 hours of our time getting to and from the property. At least we found out about their utter incompetence before singing a contract.

After bad experience we have a good one now. We have just rented a flat out by Roberts Residential. That I really appreciated I was kept informed at all stage of the renting process. This is the one of the attitudes that a great customer service means. Ashley from the letting department was really friendly and helpful. I could recommend this company.
