This company overcharges tenants with extortionate fees, and takes every opportunity to charge more fees. This is despite a recent ban on agency fees. Agents I have liaised with have been excessively belligerent when discussing terms in contracts and generally lacklustre in ensuring any quality of service.

Suffice to say it is contrary to the many positive comments here on Trust Pilot. With regards to fees, your comments are very surprising indeed. The ‘tenant fee ban’ came into effect on 1st June 2019 and as a reputable and trusted agent we will be adhering to the letter of this law, as is stated on our tenant fees notice via our website and offices. We had a really difficult process with solicitors - Katie at Ocean did an excellent job of keeping us up to date on our purchase when we were getting no information anywhere else. She has been infinitely helpful and really friendly. Likewise, Sam at Ocean made sure we were able to measure up our flat etc. when our solicitors were stalling and our move was postponed, so at least we could have everything else prepared. Thanks to them both for making our move manageable!

I recently used Ocean Property Lawyers after they were recommend to be by a family member. Marilina looked after the sale of my property and I found her to be extremely quick, efficient and easy to get hold of for updates. I live overseas so was keen to get a quick completion and from accepting an offer to completing on the sale took 6 weeks. I would highly recommend Ocean Property Lawyers and Maralini to anybody. Really helpful and professional staff whose communication was superb. Purchased through Ocean Portishead and also used Ocean Financial advisor to research and secure mortgage. Would highly recommend. A very challenging purchase with difficult vendors. Their service was superb from beginning to end. If in a few years’ time I decide to sell, I will definitely use Ocean. Friendly and professional staff and I am a totally satisfied customer.

I am an oversea student without any relatives in the UK, and you can only rent with them if you have a guarantor (someone you actually know), or you need to pay a whole year up front.
We are sorry to hear of your disappointment, we will do our best to clarify the position for you.As a letting agent part of our obligation to the property owner is to qualify/reference any potential tenant, one of these checks would be to ensure they are able to financially afford the rent for the duration of the tenancy.As a student it is unlikely that any income/work reference would satisfy this test, we would therefore ask for a UK based Guarantor or for the rent to be paid in advance for the period.The reason we ask for these two options is because the tenancy is based on UK law and the role of the guarantor is to indemnify the tenants position on the tenancy.If the tenant or guarantor default the landlord can then look for satisfaction through the UK judicial system, if the Guarantor is not UK based this is not possible.So as we work on behalf of the property owner we have a duty of care to ensure they are protected.This is of course our company policy, many other private agents or landlords may not take this approach and we would therefore wish you the very best of luck finding your new home.Kind Regards Ocean.

Luigi and colleagues at Ocean were amazing helping us to get a good mortgage deal and through all the various trials and tribulations of house buying. We went back to see Luigi after he was totally honest when we were trying to buy a house a few years ago when he told us he wasn’t able to get us the best deal as the ones at the time weren’t available to brokers. You don’t get this honesty with all advisors. We would always go to Ocean for future advice and 100% recommend their services.

Tried to get an extra £30 from us for water every month after we were told it was included in the rent and were threatened with the property being put up for rent again after there was a misunderstanding over when the deposit was to be paid.

Whilst we can not comment directly as we do not have your name, we are aware of a particular building of multiple occupancy that did unfortunately cause various issues due to the misinformation we were provided regarding water bills. Disgusted with the extortionate admin fees applied to poor students when moving property.£330 plus to change a tenancy.Shame on you.
Your comments are surprising. Regrettably, these are standard costs that were clearly outlined in our tenancy agreement and the appropriate legislation. They account for legitimate expenses incurred by both Ocean Letting and Management and the landlord in situations such as this where a tenant decides to vacate within two months of a fixed-term agreement. This situation necessitates the expenditure of time, resources, and paperwork to integrate a new tenant into the agreement, ensuring uninterrupted occupancy for all tenants remaining, and complete rental payment to the landlord. As you may recall from your own experience, this process is quite thorough.Regards Ocean

Ocean Solicitors - The whole process of re-mortgaging took a long time, as a result I went on the high rate of interest with my old mortgage company. I completed all of the forms that provided information about my property in a timely manner but found that there was a very slow turn around time. In part I think that this was due to the solicitor working on my case changing halfway through but I would expect Ocean to manage this accordingly. Ocean Estate agents - The experience I received from them was positive overall.

I have recently completed on a property I purchased through Ocean. They were very helpful and fast acting when arranging viewings. Following making an offer, they continued to support through the process of instructing solicitors. I was in a short chain and had some difficulties with my sale. Rosie Watson (Move Manager) could not have been more helpful, going above and beyond to solve issues throughout the chain - I could not have felt more supported! I highly recommend Ocean.

We have dealt with many estate agents over many years and I can honestly say that the staff at the Ocean Portishead branch are without question the best we have ever encountered. We do not give praise easily and so this is a genuine review of how each member of staff has performed. From our first phone call to Callum, being looked after by Craig, plus the respectful and caring way in which other members of staff have communicated with us, we can only congratulate them all. They are all professional in the way they work and the team clearly have a rapport with each other, making it a pleasure to deal with them.
