GoogleOver the years, we have bought and sold a number of houses, nevertheless selling a property can be taxing for most people. So when we decided to place our house on the market, we researched our options carefully. Eventually, we chose Dowen Estate Agents. Within three days, our property had been valued, beautifully photographed and listed on multiple platforms. The staff at the Bishop Auckland branch have been exemplary; all questions are answered fully, all phone calls and texts are responded to promptly and what is more, great effort has been made to ensure we are at ease with each step in the process. Within one month of placing our home on the market, we have accepted an offer. Dowen have been thorough, efficient, uncomplicated and candid; a combination of qualities some may say are seldom seen within today’s real estate industry.

Emailed the Bishop Auckland branch enquiring as to whether a property I was interested in had sold stc as it's been under offer for months and got no reply. Went on to say I'm a cash buyer and am interested in a similar property, a week on still nothing but silence. I can only assume they're so busy they don't need my business..........

Happy with the speed in which I was accepted on the letting of 5 Boston Street but unhappy after been told I was getting keys only to be put back 3 weeks due to electrical work needing doing and been let down twice. In the end I eventually moved in and am happy with the house apart from been left with a bathroom light that stays on still waiting for fixing

Staff were polite until we got a buyer for our house and then it felt like they were suddenly 'team buyer' and disregarded what was best for us as sellers when it came to negotiations, I think this was because buyers wanted to complete earlier than we did and Dowens just want their commission asap. Also found the call handlers to be quite patronising at times. Wouldn't recommend from a Sellers' perspective.

Waste of time, I explained my situation to them from the beginning, a cash purchaser from abroad I would not be able to view the property, after the deadline they informed me my offer had not been forwarded because I hadn't viewed the property. Avoid.
