GoogleI just want to say Jon Dunbar from the Scriven's team was absolutely amazing and helped massively. After I was let down elsewhere I was in urgent need of a quick response for a flat due to having less than 2 weeks to find somewhere.
Jon was very informative and also relayed on information to the landlord of the property at an impressive speed! Within a few days I had the keys to the new flat to rent and all this whilst being in an IVA!
I shall come back to this review if any changes both positive or negative as time goes on... However A+ for these Estate Agents especially compared to others that didn't seem to care to help!

GoogleWe recently lost our mom and no longer had our dad and had the task of putting the family home of 45 years for sale. We originally didn't go with Scrivens but our solicitor was constantly recommended them, we went with another estate agent but took a dislike to them straight away and was we glad. Scrivens these last few months have been a god send. Diane, Sarah, Joe and not to mention George nothing has been to much trouble for them. They go out there way to help in what is a very difficult time, emotionally. They understand that you're not just sell a house it's got emotional attachments. GoogleScrivens and co and there landlord team are just another prime example of discrimination to cause stereotypes.
I am not going to look all guns blazing and play in with there tactics however I am appalled at how I have been treated by them.
Me and my partner who are both in good jobs and who both earn over the threshold to not need a guarantor, applied for a property to be told we will hear back within 3 days. 3 days came and 3 days passed. In fact 3 weeks passed! I called and was told I would be called back numerous times and never was.
I then noticed that they had updated new photos on the website for the property and took off the phrase "ready middle of october" stating it was ready now.
In the end I was getting sick of waiting so I arranged for my mother to call and good job she did as they were more than happy to speak to her! Guess what it all to boiled down to... the fact that I am 19 and my partner is 21! Guess they wouldn't mind speaking to my mother as she's older!!!!
I'm not being funny but they obviously put it down to stereotype of younger people. Now I want to know how do you expect to not get these stereotypes when no one is giving us opportunity. Everyone, and by the looks of it people at scrivens think oh young people live in high rise flats, council houses don't pay bills etc. Why don't you let your landlords meet us and give us a chance??
I would have been happier if you'd have at least kept me in the loop instead of excuse after excuse when it was all because of my age.

Dear Lauren, first of all, we are sorry for the delay in physically responding to your review. Despite us trying to speak with you on the telephone, and also exchanging emails following your initial post/review in 2018, whilst reviewing our google account this week, it seems we missed actually detailing a reply on our google account for which we apologise. Once again, we would like to repeat that Scriven & Co do not discriminate against anyone, and in fact, over the years we have let, and continue to let, property to tenants of all ages. Furthermore, the employee that received your tenancy application at that time, and reported the application to our client, is a similar age to yourself and is still employed by Scriven & Co today. The above said, we acknowledge that there was a delay in providing updates to you after you submitted an application for tenancy, and our communication to you was not to the required standard on that occasion. At the time, the client/landlord of the property was out of the country and communication could only be carried out by email, and replied to as and when the client/landlord had access to internet [which was restricted]. Your application at the time was reported via email and it remains the company policy to continue to market properties until either a letting is agreed, or we are instructed otherwise. Therefore, whilst we had received your application, as the property remained “not-let”, we would have continued to receive and consider applications from any other interested party [including your mother], until a letting was officially agreed. By doing so, this ensures that we continue to act in the best interests of our client. Although we received your tenancy application and efforts were made to report and follow up your application to the client/landlord [each time you contacted our offices for an update], we failed to let you know that we had not been able to obtain an update which meant you did not know the position of your application. As you may recall, when we were eventually able to communicate with the landlord, your tenancy application was declined, however this was due to other factors including affordability and employment status being “contractual” rather than a permanent position. The decision to decline your tenancy application was not due to the age of you and your partner.
Since your application for tenancy in 2018, although the COVID-19 pandemic has been a factor in the change, our procedure and the way in which prospective tenants apply to rent properties has evolved. We believe these changes and updates to our procedure now makes the process much quicker and helps reduce any possible delays. Once again, we apologise for the lack of communication following your application in 2018, and hope that should you apply to rent a property again, you will find the process more efficient and with better communication.

The staff are friendly, professional and provide a good service, keeping us informed through phone and e-mail as necessary. One example of this was after our property had to be remarketed, once it had fallen through, the staff immediately made contact with previously interested parties to set up viewings and restart the process over - going above and beyond expectations. The only blemish in our experience was the leniency afforded to our buyer, although the honesty and fairness demonstrated was refreshing, this did result in delays in the initial stages of the sale. All in all, Scriven & Co provide sound advice and are a pleasure to deal with.
