We were very lucky to have had the pleasure of having Scriven & Co assist us with our upcoming house purchase. I can happily say that you are in safe hands. We received sound advice which helped us greatly throughout the process. Thanks again!

Dear James, many thanks for taking the time to give us a five star review. This is most appreciated. Although we do not expect you to, if you do have the time, we would be really pleased to hear why you decided to give us five stars. Any comments can be sent to quinton@scriven.co.uk Thanks again.

From the first initial phone call to handing over the keys to our new tenants, our experience of Scriven & Co has been outstanding. The team were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they kept us informed every step of the way. We would highly recommend Scriven and Co to anyone thinking about renting out their property.

In November 2016 I went on their website, contacted the office via the email link requesting a valuation appointment. Did not receive a reply. Does not give me much confidence that they would be proactive in selling our property. Plenty more Estate Agents who I am sure will welcome our business.

Thank you for your google review and our subsequent telephone conversation. We can confirm that Scriven and Company did receive your email request for a valuation appointment however unfortunately on this occasion your email was received by someone who was annual leave meaning you should have received an β€œout of office reply”. We are genuinely disappointed to miss out on a potential instruction, especially as we have sold a number of properties within your area in the past. Please contact George Scriven on his direct line 0121 506 6954 if we can be of any further assistance in the future.

Absolutely thrilled with the result and service received.

We used this firm to advise us on selling or renting our house out as we were moving overseas. George came round and gave me excellent advice. We decided to get them to sell it as they assured us it would sell very quickly. We were very pleased with the service they gave and they were right, we had a sale agreed in less than a week. It completed yesterday. Absolutely thrilled with .their service and professionalism. Would certainly recommend them.

Extremely late putting this on and often think wonderful things without actually paying recognition to those deserving... so here goes... As we all know, moving house is stressful, especially when other less effective estate agents selling the house you want to buy are being less than competent and there are legal issues linked to deeds etc preventing things from developing further. But Thanks to the amazing help, advice and willingness of George at Scriven and Co to go that extra mile, we managed to sail through the selling and buying of our houses with an incredibly fast turn about of just over 4weeks. We are now living in what is going to be the house of our dreams and we couldn't have done it without you George Scriven of Scriven and Co. So thank you... we will be eternally grateful x

I'm a landlord with several properties that are solely managed by Scriven & Co. I have been working with Scriven's for over 3 years now. We work with Scriven's from purchase appraisals through to letting and management thereof. On the landlord side - upon identification of a suitable property, we work with Scriven's to ascertain realistic rental values and its appeal for market before an offer to purchase is made. If successful on purchase Scriven's then complete an inspection for us to identify what work is required to bring the property to our high standards - our aspirations are to have high quality and desirable properties (not to have a portfolio of volume/low quality). Scriven's recommend us on how to achieve those aspirations. Once we have completed upgrade works we then market with Scriven's who provide opportunity to all interested tenants to view the property. The relationship is so good between us and Scriven's that we know all the staff really well who, I have to say, are all extremely professional. Once we obtain a successful application Scriven's then take over the day to day running. From the tenant side - once the application is approved (and within the applicants means) Scriven's then arrange the tenancy agreement (including payment method), inventory and key hand over. Periodic meetings are conducted with the tenant to ensure that all is well and they are happy. If any maintenance works are necessary then all the tenant has to do is call or e mail Scriven's who then arrange for repair - hassle free. If the tenant has any concerns then again Scriven's manage those concerns. For me Scriven's work to my aspiration of providing high quality and customer focused service. Between us we ensure that the properties are a high standard, energy efficient and in great locations. I wouldn't want to work with any other agent - all the staff are extremely professional.

Having rented out a property through Scriven & Co and then subsequently sold the property through them I can highly recommend both the Sales and Lettings teams. They provide an honest and friendly service and keep you well-informed throughout the process. Their advice is spot-on and, unlike other estate agents I have dealt with, don't set unrealistic expectations or over-promise. Should I need to sell or rent a property again they'd certainly be the ones I'd call.

Applied for tenancy on two apartments, both times they couldn’t even be bothered to let us know that let had been agreed with another applicant. No offer to help find something else. Waste of time, would not use them again.

Danielle Β· 21 May 2020

Agent replied Β· 23 January 2026

In response to your review above, upon checking our records we can only trace having received one joint application for tenancy from you in respect of one property. Many applications were submitted in respect of this property and your application was submitted on the 20th May at 10:04am. Due to the huge amount of interest in the property a decision was made on the same day (20th May) to change the status of the property to β€œlet agreed”. The purpose of doing this was to prevent any further enquires for a property that we had already received a number of acceptable applications for. Where there is significant interest in a property and acceptable applications have been submitted, by changing the status this prevents applicants who have already submitted applications from having to wait for an extended length of time for a decision and prevents further prospective tenants from enquiring about a property that has potentially been let. After changing the status to let agreed, all of the received applications were presented to the landlord so that they could make a decision and an application was subsequently accepted. The decision to agree a letting was made by the landlord on the 21st May, the day after your application was submitted. After an application has been accepted, the first step is to contact the prospective tenant/accepted applicant to advise their application has been accepted. After this the second step is to notify all other applicants their applications have been unsuccessful. The process of notifying the unsuccessful applicants commenced on the 21st May and during the process you contacted our offices to advise that you had noticed the status of the property had been changed to β€œlet agreed” on the 20th May. You advised that you felt frustrated that you had noticed this yourself before being notified by Scriven & Co and did not give us an opportunity to explain the process. In addition to the above, the Coronavirus has meant that we are currently operating on reduced staff in order to comply with government guidance and distancing measures. Furthermore, as fewer agents are open at this time there is a reduced number of properties available to rent/view meaning we are receiving more enquiries for the available properties as normally expected. As a combination of these factors’ things are naturally taking a little bit longer than normal. We are sorry that you feel you would not want to rent a property from us in the future and hope that this reply helps explain our procedure. Should you change your mind, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us.

Scrivens & Co have been looking after our rental property for just over two years now, I have to say that we are extremely impressed with the service that they provide. It is our first rental property and we did initially have some concerns but Charles and the lettings team guided us through the whole process. Scrivens & Co offer a professional, customer focused approach which is very hard to find in this day and age.

From start to finish it was a pleasure dealing with all of the friendly, professional staff at Scriven & Co. The advice we were given was always sound and considered. We were kept informed regularly during each stage of the process. Selling a house can be very stressful and George and the Team did their utmost to minimise this for us. I wholeheartedly recommend them and would use them again to move.

Had very little hope of selling my 6 year old new build apartment due to so many also being for sale near by but George visited and gave his invaluable opinion of what we could do to make the apartment as saleable as possible. I managed to sell the apartment in 3-4 months with the help of scriven & co. Everybody there was very approachable and i would highly recommend using Scriven & Co.

I have let my flat in Quinton with Scrivens twice over the last few years and recently sold it with Scrivens in December 2015. They also dealt with the sale of my Nans house in February 2016. They run a really good professional service there and me and my family have been using them for all of our property matters over the past 7 or 8 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We sold our property through Scriven & Co. Quinton last month. We found them to be very competitive on price, professional, efficient and also friendly. Their estimate of the property market value proved to be more accurate than their competitor's valuation. Scriven & Co were also very effective in negotiating the final price on our behalf. Based on our experience with Scriven & Co, we would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Three generations of my family have been advised on property matters over the past thirty years. In the last month Scriven & Co. have been managing properties, selling a house, negotiating a leasehold reversion sale and valuing a leasehold for my family. All their departments are friendly, competent, responsive and provide good value. As a chartered surveyor myself I am impressed by the consistent quality and professionalism of the service they offer.

My son is struggling to any of his deposit back from this company after moving out over two months ago. I'd recommend you go elsewhere if you're looking to rent. 0/5.

Darren Β· 9 October 2020

Agent replied Β· 23 January 2026

Dear Mr Lingard, obviously due to GDPR we are not able to detail specific information within this reply. However, we are able to confirm that following the end of your son's tenancy we followed our normal checkout/final inspection procedure. For your information, the final inspection consists of us reviewing/cross-checking the condition of the property as it is at the end of the tenancy, against the condition of the property recorded in the inventory and schedule of condition that was prepared immediately before the commencement of the tenancy. Allowances are then made for fair wear but items not considered as fair wear such as cleaning and damage are detailed. We then liaise between the tenant and the landlord in order to try and reach a fair agreement regarding the rectification of any highlighted issues/items detailed, which might require a deduction from the tenancy deposit. Such agreements vary but examples include; a contribution towards redecoration, the full cost of a repair to damage, or cleaning. Following the end of your son's tenancy, the final inspection was carried out, items were noted and a dilapidation proposal was put forward in relation to items that were considered beyond fair wear. Although we thought the proposal was fair and by this we mean, the landlord incurred no "betterment" and the former tenants were not incurring unfair expense, we were not able to reach a mutual agreement. Where this happens, which thankfully does not happen very often, the next stage of the process is to refer the matter to dispute. A dispute referral is where all evidence such as the tenancy agreement, inventory and schedule of condition, and the "after-photographs" etc are forwarded to the respective deposit scheme, who review all evidence and make a decision regarding the deposit and any possible deductions. Despite our efforts to reach an agreement we were not able to do so meaning the next stage of the process was to pass the matter to dispute. Depending on the deposit scheme, it can take some time for the respective scheme to assess the case and make a decision. We have this week received confirmation from the deposit scheme regarding the cleaning, indicating that the remaining items should soon be reviewed and hopefully a final decision made in the near future. As the matter is in the hands of the deposit scheme, there is nothing we can do to speed up a final decision process. Your son or any tenant going through a deposit dispute can also always contact the respective deposit scheme directly should they want a progress update. We trust this reply sufficiently explains the reason for the delay however should you have any further questions regarding the normal process please do not hesitate to contact our offices.
