New Milton, Awful estate agents, left us homeless with no help

Disgusting estate agents didnt bother with us at all, I called and called to view a property as ours was only a short term let, they never bothered to tell us when the viewings were despite me calling several times and let the property go to someone else. There was nothing else available and because of this we ended up homeless while I was pregnant and with a 3 year old. Never use them!!

Tried to view several properties with this agency but before you can even arrange a viewing, they send you an email with 15 very intrusive questions. For example, how many animals do you have - please tell us breed, names, ages, etc.

My experience with the Martin & Co agents was disastrous. Just graduated and about to start my postgrad course in Birmingham so needed to find a one bed apartment. My friend recommended them since she got her one bed through them so I started my search there. Their communication is so terrible! Dan was the agent sending me properties and apparently responsible for sending offers. I found a property I loved and booking a viewing was a headache. Before I left the property I informed the agent that I wanted it. I knew being a student would affect my chances so I made sure I let him know I would pay rent in advance so I wouldn’t need a guarantor etc. He said I should call the office so they send me an offer form to complete and I did that. Submitted the form before the end of day. Had to chase them for updates on the status of my offer. I would call and they’d tell me Dan wasn’t available or he isn’t at work. I found out from another agent that they gave the property to someone else. I had to hear it from Dan cause I couldn’t believe it. Dan sent me an email saying I should call him about the offer. I called they said he’s on another call. So frustrating! Eventually he sent an email saying my offer wasn’t accepted. I was really upset but I still gave them a chance. Saw another property I liked and booked a viewing for it. I thought maybe I filled the form incorrectly or something so I made sure to state my situation in the form. Gave my current landlord’s contact details cause I’m a great tenant and he’d easily confirm I can pay rent in advance. Had to call them twice to get the offer form and still didn’t get the property for whatever reason. Morale of the story: If you’re a post grad student and looking for a place in Birmingham I recommend the Fleet Milne agents. Fortunately I got a property in the same place with so much ease. After my viewing I told the agent my situation and he sent the offer form immediately. Their offer form was electronic (not a copy and paste email) and it had options like pay rent upfront for people like me. I will be moving into my desired property soon! Martin & Co shame on you for the horrible service!

Anti social tenants welcome at Martin an co.

Martin and Co are responsible for the nightmare tenants next door. I have called them 9 times to report anti social behaviour as I cannot sleep until around 2 -3 am. This has ruined my mental health and ability to function at work. They care not about duty and responsibility. I wouldn't use them in any shape of form. No standards.

As a landlady for over 20 years this is comfortably my worst experience. The letting agent at the Leicester office was rude and patronising at times. Incorrect AML checks for which there was an expectation the landlord would cover the costs. Slow replies to email and requests often not actioned. Questionable GDPR compliance with attempted validation through loose loopholes. Overall a stressful experience which is concerning when you pay for a service to take away the stress!

Stay clear of Martin and co!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Simran at Martin & Co Birmingham City. Communication was virtually non-existent, she took 3-4 days to respond to emails, if she replied at all, and was unreachable by phone, insisting on email-only contact. As a landlord, I found her uninformative and unsupportive, particularly when dealing with tenant vacating processes. She provided minimal effort in securing damage deposits, even when damages clearly exceeded the deposit amount. Overall, her service was inadequate, and I strongly advise landlords to avoid working with her to save time and frustration.

The service I received from Martin & Co Birmingham was excellent. I had an apartment to sell and the expert advice from Govind was truly brilliant. The photographs he took and the brochure produced was really professional and with his advice he decided to do a group viewing. This culminated in twelve people seeing the apartment and an offer being made on the day of viewing. I cannot praise their service highly enough. Fantastic.

My opinion is to STAY WELL CLEAR!!After being a tenant under Martin&Co Wokingham my personal advice to anyone would be that I would NOT recommend Martin&Co. In my personal experience and dealings with Martin&Co and their director I was left to feel as if I was a second-class citizen!! In my personal experience even going as far as stating that we had no rights.In my personal experience with Martin&Co and dealings with Erica and her team they persisted to in my opinion try to threaten and intimidate, again in my opinion and based off of my personal experience, I was left to feel they used underhand practices to get the outcome they desire.Personally, as a tenant who values my right to privacy, and right to quiet enjoyment as set out in tenancy agreements. I did not feel as if that was respected or acknowledged by Martin&Co Wokingham. In my experience they contacted me outside of working hours numerous times no matter how many times I requested them not to, I was left to feel harassed. In my experience numerous times Erica phoned/emailed myself when she wanted to, personally I don't want to take calls as late as 8:30pm regarding such matters however I had no choice with Erica. In my personal experience they even went as far as turning up to the home without notice!!In my personal experience our deposit was not kept in a safe manner and in my opinion was not dealt with professionally and fairly at the end of the tenancy. After numerous requests surrounding our deposit, I'm left to personally feel it is not something Erica and her team at Martin&Co sadly seem to believe in. In my experience our deposit was threatened several times and again in my opinion used as leverage whilst they continued to withhold up to date prescribed information that they were required to provide us with during our tenancy.In my experience they did not deal with our deposit requests and took the complete allowed time to reply to any requests made from the governing body. They made numerous claims which would seemingly double the following day, I was left to feel as if these were fictitious claims. For us personally it took 4 months to reclaim the deposit when the governing body dismissed many of said claims. In my opinion I would hope and expect a company like Martin&Co to deal with this in a more professional and timely manner. My advice based on my experience is if you're a landlord that wants to know their property is in the safe hands of professionals, I would highly advise staying clear!! During my dealings with Erica and her team they weren't the best with paperwork and made numerous errors in the actual paperwork they did prescribe!! In my personal experience they left confidential paperwork with high value in an unsecured environment and the team could not even find it at one point. In my experience during this time a staff member was in my opinion incredibly rude to us, even though they could not find our confidential paperwork through their own errors. In my opinion and experience Martin&Co they struggled to acknowledge most of tenancy law, except that which benefited their own motives.In my experience they took no accountability of their numerous errors and tried to claim the incurred costs of their what I deem as amateur mistakes out of our deposit. In my opinion these mistakes came down to a lack of knowledge within the team and leadership, in my opinion this isn't the behaviour of an honest upfront company, and they should rather deal with their mistakes in a more professional manner.

Gina Rude and Unprofessional!!

We viewed a property in channel view and clearly this is the worst and most unprofessional agents in the world!The lady Gina was so rude and unprofessional she struggled to even greet us when we arrived the property turned her back on us walked off.We really liked the property and made an offer of £1625 which its clear to see that the agent didn’t know or couldn’t be bothered to present our offer to the landlord and provided no feedback whatsoever regarding why another offer had been accepted.If your a landlord or tenant Avoid this agent at all costs.Im glad we didn’t get the place now knowing what kind of Rude and unprofessional agency would be managing my tenancy!!Disgusting service!

They don’t respond.

I got sent a video viewing and half an hour later I replied saying my friend and I are very interested and then asked about the move in date and they never replied. It’s been nearly a week and during that time I’ve emailed - no response, my friend has phoned multiple times and it’s gone straight to voicemail. I’ve then sent an enquiry on their website where it says someone will get back to me and they never have. I then saw the property was not available anymore which was really disappointing. If they weren’t going to let me rent it, they could’ve at least let me know it had gone and replied to at least one of the ways I contacted them!!

If I could give a minus star I would. There is a property with their board outside. I t is not listed on their website. I have enquired 3 times to find out the cost of the property and I have received no response. Very unprofessional. You'd have thought with the market slowing down that they would be keen to engage in conversation. I've never used them in the past and I never will in the future.
