My wife and I were delighted by the services rendered by 'Romans'. Mya Bradford was exceptionally great, professional and managed our tenancy from the incipient stages right through to completion. She even went the extra mile by contacting the owner and ensuring that we had the keys to out flat the previous evening, making our move to our new home the following day in Scotts corner smooth and seamless. Many thanks also to all involved at Romans for all the support in handling our tenancy. We would surely use Romans again if needed in future.

Only rating 1 star as 0 isn't possible! Myself and my partner were initially thrilled to be moving into our 1 bed flat in Popley but that didn't last long. Upon the viewing, we were promised that the already extremely worn carpets would be replaced, the walls would be painted, and that the sockets that were hanging off the wall were "about to be sorted out". So upon moving in, we were surprised to find that the walls and carpets were in the same state - we later learned that the landlord had only officially purchased the property 6 days before we moved in, and that he actually worked for Romans, which we still feel should have been disclosed prior to us moving in. From there on, the problems only got worse. The fridge freezer was not working at all for the first 10 days of our tenancy, ALL the appliances in the kitchen stopped working in succession, the bedroom window was blown out, making the bedroom freezing cold at all times (which never did get resolved and we were told that "it's not an issue"), the entry intercom has never worked properly, and we were not informed in the check in inventory, or at all, that we had a gate into the garden or that we had double french doors from the living room into the garden (Both were extremely well hidden/disguised). We had to repeatedly email and call Romans to get any minor problem fixed, which took up a lot of our time and caused a great deal of stress to both myself and my partner. The worst part of the whole experience was the check out/liability stage. Romans tried to charge us an extortionate amount to decorate, tidy the garden, and fix issues that we were able to prove multiple times were there before we moved in - as per the check in report. The agent we were initially dealing with was wilfully ignoring all the proof we provided to counter their claims, and it took weeks and weeks of disputing before we finally got some sort of result. I can genuinely say that the only part of our tenancy and dealing with romans that we were ever happy with was the property inspector, Jo Hunt. She was beyond helpful, friendly, always professional and made us feel listened to. Much more so than any of her colleagues at Romans we ever dealt with. The whole experience has left us stressed, tired and feeling as if we were taken advantage of, as young first time renters. We highly stress for anyone thinking of renting through Romans to rethink and go with someone else!

This is a review specifically for Denise Hurn, who managed the rental and tenancy agreements relating to my flat in Basingstoke. Denise was always helpful and supportive and managed a number of difficult situations well. Romans is not an agency we will use again, however, Denise was exemplary and we would not hesitate to work with her again. She demonstrated excellent service and kept going, without complaint, despite numerous situations, most of which were not of her making. From the moment we moved in, Romans have continuously lied and belittled us simply because we were renting for the first time. We were told that the property came with a parking space for that to not exist and that the mold in the garage would be fixed before moving in. The mold, however, was still an ongoing problem near enough a year later after moving in. Our main problem was when Romans failed to keep us informed regarding our landlord selling the property, where we had been reassured that we would not be affected in the process and that our contract still remained till November 2022. That was not the case as Romans advertised and held viewings with the intention of sellers living in the property, where we only found out by being present at one of the viewings. Having accepted that we would have to move, Romans again reassured us that our notice period was a month long, but that was not the case when we handed in our notice. The unprofessionalism of Romans is truly awful that had gotten to the point where I refused to speak to them and had to rely on written emails as evidence to the lies that they were telling us. I have been passed around the office, being constantly lied to and have not had a single apology for our experience. I would not recommend using Romans nor will I ever be using them again.

The condition of property was terrible when moved in. It Has not been maintained/ managed propley we Notified our property manager jesse about the problems and we are still dealing with and waiting for the issues to be fixed 5months into tenancy. We have holes in ceiling and mold growing in every room and boiler issues with a 5 month old baby living in the property aswell. Joe has been out and taken pictures and has assured us that she will do everything she can to get resovled. Environmental health have even contacted Roman's about poor living conditions The service we have recieved from the property maintenance department has been appalling there phones lines are always down or the managers of the department dont return calls or emails.

I can highly recommend Romans Estate Agents as all the staff are extremely helpful especially Ben Plowman, he is not only helpful but highly professional, courteous and diplomatic and I am very impressed that he sold out property within weeks of putting up for sale with Romans after moving the sale away from another estate agent that failed to put the effort into promoting our property. His photographs were outstanding of our house which creates good positive interest. He went the extra mile and made sure there was good communication with buyer and ourselves including conveyance solicitor all the away through to completion. Well done Romans

Looking online, the same old properties kept coming up time and time again, and I spoke directly to Philippa Randle, explained my needs, and she recommended the property I was subsequently able to secure. She listened to my requests, was friendly, polite, and nothing was too much trouble - and believe me, I asked a LOT of questions as I'd never rented before! Subsequent to moving in, I had a few small issues, but again, my property manager Mandy Tann has been absolutely superb. Nothing is too much trouble. She responds to emails and calls so quickly, sorts out my problems, is friendly, kind, and did I already say? ... nothing is too much trouble. Overall, Romans have helped me through a very difficult phase in my life with a friendly words, happy interactions, and clear and concise information. Highly recommend this agency, and if I need to find alternative accommodation in the future or buy my own property I will certainly use Romans again.
