We had to sell our daughters house a couple of hours drive away from us. It needed a lot of remedial work after abuse by tenants before it could be marketed. Symonds and Sampson, Beaminster were spot on right from the start with valuation, suggesting contractors for the work required right through to the sale which all went very smoothly. Everyone in the office was friendly, helpful and supportive throughout. I can’t speak too highly of them and can recommend them without any hesitation.

Disappointing Service

We were buying and selling through Symonds in Blandford Forum for properties to the value of £835k. We expected professional treatment throughout. Communication was poor. Copy was poor and had to be re written - by me. On occasion on the telephone we had to put up with a disinterested chap who insisted on banging loudly on his keyboard (seems comical now but you don’t expect this treatment by “professionals”). Our notice of purchase was sent out in advance of the purchase being finalised causing confusion and embarrassment with all parties involved. Thankfully we had been in regular contact with our purchasers and vendor. Had we not, we’d have lost both sale and purchase. All this was nearly a year ago in 2021 and it still beggars belief that it was such a poor experience and added unnecessary stress. What should have been a premium company with service to match was in fact a budget business with disinterested lead staff.

I have used S&S as a tenant, a landlord and to sell a property. I am immensely grateful for the Blandford office who have been professional, courteous and prompt in all communication. Based on my experience of them as a tenant, they were the only agency I wanted to use as a landlord. I was not disappointed Clare and the team did an amazing job, particularly as I was living on the other side of the planet.When it came to selling, I got useful advice about decorating and the presentation of the property. The two departments worked well together which was extremely helpful.If you want a pragmatic, no-nonsense, approach to property, these are the people are to use.

Selling my retirement cottage

I needed to sell my retirement cottage in Axminster for family reasons, the agent priced my house very accurately for the quick sale I needed. The advertising material they produced was very good quality. Despite Covid whichever member of staff was in the office they were always up to speed with what was happening and responded to emails or phone calls promptly. The sale completed on the day of my husband's funeral, so in addition to handing over the keys they also took final meter readings for me. I can recommend Ricky, Hannah and Brigit with confidence.
