Absolutely livid, Hall and Benson promising us we would be first to view a property after waiting for it to come on the market, calling up about it the second it came on the market. Turning up to the first viewing they had and them not having the right keys, who then promised us the viewings would be in the same order, Rang later that day, they said they were still looking for the keys so could not arrange a viewing yet, Rang the next day and they said the same, the agent called back around 10 minutes later to give us a viewing. Keo turns up today for the viewing and the woman supposed to be showing him round the "first viewing" tells him its gone and shuts the door!! Hall and Benson you are absolute liars, we offered a holding deposit but you said we had to look around first! And you said we would be first to view it as we had already and YOU had the wrong keys. Thank you for your fantastic service.

Had an appointment to view a bungalow on Outseats Drive a month or so ago. The agent (who I also believe was the manager) turned up on time and was polite enough but as she was about to unlock, the key didn't work. Apologised and excused herself as she had to 'make a call'. Turns out she brought the wrong key. Doesn't give you much confidence does it? We advised we would be prepared to wait while she went back to the office but she wasn't prepared to do that 'in this traffic at 5pm on a Friday.' She offered to rearrange but the only day we could squeeze it in was the following day (Saturday) but she advised no one was available to do the viewing. Their loss, as we were genuine buyers. We were polite and accepted this but obviously were not happy having made a specific journey. I'm sure the seller would be highly delighted with their commitment if they knew!

Awful. I never feel the need to write a negative review but felt very strongly about leaving one for hall and benson alfreton. Rude and arrogant. We decided to rent which happened to be through hall and benson. The property wasn’t in the best condition to begin with but as decent human beings we wanted to leave the property looking good enough for the next people. Including two full days cleaning and shampooing the carpet even though the carpet was stated as bad condition when we moved in. Upon checking out (bearing in mind it was for 1 o’clock on a random week day. My partner was thankfully off work to walk them around. She stated that they were hoping no one would be available to walk round with them so they could put what they like down!) i fully understand that landlords need to make a living and respect that. We were made to feel as though we had done damage to the property that had been there many years. Including the paint on the wall looking like it had been rollered. We hadn’t touched the paint! It was a mess to begin with and only wanted to stay for a year so we wasn’t about to waste our time and money on that! The roller mess was not stated when we first moved in. To be fair I didn’t even notice it neither did the lady who first walked us round. I’m not about to start looking and commenting on how someone has rollered the wall!! The previous people probably had their bond taking from them also for this matter but wasn’t even fixed! We were deducting £200 from our bond for a few bits including the wall. I feel as though hall and benson look for every minor bit so they’re able to take some of your money still. The have no interest whatsoever about looking after the tenant. All the way through they had been pretty snotty and abrupt with us but this was the finally straw! Planning on going round to see the new tenants to let them know so they don’t end up paying for it either! I can not stress enough to AVOID this company. After reading many reviews stating the same thing as me I just wish I could have read those before renting! There are lots of lovely estate agents out there who actually want to help unfortunately hall and benson’s are not. Sadly my main aim of the message wasn’t put across before your reply. The amount of the total bond coming back to us isn’t an issue as such. I was mostly frustrated with the way it had been dealt with. The member of staff told us we were being difficult by asking about What had happened and told after the check out meeting that there is a complaints policy (which was sent after the review) but he wouldn’t bother trying to complain as it would cost us more. This could have been dealt with very differently if the member of staff in question had responded to our concerns in a professional way. This will be passed onto the branch manager shortly.

I had a valuation from hall & benson. I declined as I found it to be ridiculous. I have just sold the property. I have received £35000 more than their valuation and that is after selling it for less than the asking price. So taking into account the usual bartering on price I estimate that I have ended up at least £45000 better off by not selling it with this company.

It truly upsets me to have to write about a company in a sector I also work but in a more distant area. My experience of this company is shameful and their business practices are worrying to say the least but I feel obligated to bring it to the attention of the public. I would definitely try a different company as there are many to choose from in this area. They appear to work more for the buyer than the vendor, which is not what they are paid to do. My accusations are based on the fact that because they sell houses on a set fee rather than a commission basis. So it is in their interest to get quick sales, which I'm sure they'd deny. H&B initially wanted to value my father in laws house for £25,000 less than our new sales agents. It was sold on the second day of sale with H&B. Great if you want a quick sale, not so if you want the best price. During our agreed sale with H&B I had reason to question a staff members professionalism. I spoke to the manager Alex Johnson who was instantly defensive without her facts and proceeded that and future conversations in a sarcastic and abrupt manner to my grieving family. I asked to speak to the managing director and was later informed by Alex that they no longer wanted our business as the sale had fell through. I wrote an informative e mail to the MD Robert Liversidge and 6 weeks later never received a reply.

Poor communication skills. When I had a issue with the property they never resolved the issue. Been waiting over 2 weeks for money still owed back to me! I think some staff also need a refresher in the work skills and to communicate probably with each other, as the office I gave back my keys to was unaware. Will NEVER rent through Hall and Benson again.NegativeQuality, Professionalism

Tried to put in a few offers a year ago for same house and found them unbelievably rude, did not seem to pass the offers on. Estate agents didn't seem to believe I could afford or even pass offers on, did use a mortgage broker as well as trying on my own but very snobbish and rude. Will never use them or buy a house off them ever!

Unimpressed with the Alfreton branch. Had an offer accepted on a house sent through proof of funds and ID etc. then the very next day get a phone call saying there had been another offer !!! So of course they wanted me to offer more so I refused as I'm not prepared to play silly games. So as far as I am concerned they are sly and untrustworthy !!!!
