This agent is asking for a holding deposit without the tenant seeing the property. I’m not a legal expert but it sounds like an incredibly bad idea to do this. Despite needing somewhere to live I am not considering properties through this agent.

Incompetent agency and landlord, had many issues with mould and damp, leaks. Agency have keys to the property and give them out to contractors (not from agency, a third party) who let themselves in without notice or permission.Rent increase with 3 days notice.

My tenancy ended on 3rd September and we are now 12 days post move out and have not received my deposit back. According to the property manager Emily they have not received invoices. The whole move out situation has been nothing but stressful with Thornley Groves and would not recommend them to anyone.

Avoid using Thornley Groves! Especially when checked out of the property, they'll do the best to charge you deep cleaning fees. The property is not clean at the professional level during check in but charge tenant £174 cleaning fees for a 1 bed apartment when check out. Even though everything was clean and meet the check in condition.
