Thornley Groves all the way!

Choosing an estate agent to sell my house with wasn't an easy decision - but I am so glad I chosen Thornley Groves. Kelly sold my house for me - she put me at ease throughout the process & made me feel super comfortable with her having to be in & out of my house (for viewings) so thank you Kelly for this! Once sold, Clare was always at the other end of the phone / email, answering my questions & helping me through the process (that was very challenging at times) .. but with her support I was able to feel as relaxed as possible. Thank you to both Kelly & Clare for what I would describe as a 5* service!!

I was a tenant at a property managed…

I was a tenant at a property managed for 3 years by Thornley Groves. It was a largely harmonious relationship, issues were dealt with promptly, with good customer service. This was marred only by their handling of the end of the tenancy.As some as the property was vacated, communications from Thornley Groves dried up. Emails were taking days (instead of hours) to be replied to or even ignored. Assurances that it would be handled swiftly were not honoured. After chasing things up via formal complaints after a frustrating 2 weeks of silence, the deposit eventually took around 6 weeks to be returned. This would probably have been considerably longer if it wasn’t for my perseverance in chasing it up.

Sale of apartment in Ancoats

Thornley Groves managed the sale of my apartment in Ancoats (Summer 2021). The sale took two months from marketing to completion. It achieved 4% more than the asking price and 10% more than the lowest valuations received from other city centre agents.I was impressed by Thornley Groves' ability to generate immediate interest in my property. They clearly understood their market and were able to target prospective buyers accurately and effectively. I received four separate offers after just three days on the market.Once the property was under offer, the team continued to support my sale efficiently. Communication was clear throughout and actions were completed immediately.I can't fault the service I received. Thanks Hannah, Chris and Natasha.

Eve Kelly is the best and most caring

Eve Kelly is the best and most caring, intelligent and intuitive consultant that I have ever had the pleasure to meet.Thornley Groves have an absolute gem in her. Eve goes well beyond the extra mile and found what my daughter was looking for. I have no words for the generosity of spirit that she has & understanding. For us finding a suitable rental was a major stressor to the family and yet Eve pulled out every possibility. She cared and it is not just a job to her. She connects and empathises with what someone wants and what is important to them. I hope Thornley Groves realise how Eve's work ethic is beyond simply fulfilling a contract. Her commitment cannot be bought, its heartfelt and so driven to provide the best that she can. She took us from place to place relentlessly and wouldn't give up. Eve negotiated a new sofa even though I was working out how I could fix it (it was fallen in on two sides & uncomfortable) she offered to ask the landlord and one is arriving one week later on Wednesday. All other agents that we dealt with outside of Thornley Groves were officious, indifferent and shrugged their shoulders. Eve Kelly is outstanding in every way and has left a lasting impression about Thornley Groves reputation as the most driven consultants that strive for the very best and they have it in Eve particularly. They are lucky to have her working for them.

The utmost thanks to Natalie Marshall of the Monton branch of Thornley Groves.It has been the most frustrating 12 months of my life what with all the problems my solicitor caused. Without question, if Natalie hadn't been involved, this would have fallen over long ago.There were at least 4 or 5 occasions when I thought it must be dead in the water, and I'm sure from the sellers side he would have wanted to pull the plug many times more without her guidance and reassurance.I've previously worked in estate agency myself for many years and the work that goes in to holding a sale together behind the scenes often goes unnoticed and undervalued, so I can certainly testify to the exemplary efforts put in by Natalie over the last year.I cannot thank you enough, without you this wouldn't have completed.Damian

2021-08I paid rents upfront and no damage to the property. It's been 3 weeks after my tenancy ended but there was no active progress update on the deposit refund. There was no email response to my enquiry on the issue eitherUpon escalation, Richard Lowey got into the loop to resolve the issue. Richard actively responded to my enquiries, managed to get the approval to release the fund, called me to make sure all bank info was in place and liaise with the accounts team to release the fund. Now the fund was received in full within a week's time after escalationComments:Thanks to Andy Lane, my property manager. He was very responsive when the tenancy was still in forceMuch thanks to Richard Lowey to kick start and complete the whole deposit refund process. I especially appreciate Richard for his willingness to uphold the agreement and go for an extra mile to help me out even if this is not part of his jobTo TG, it is really important to know that they would uphold what was agreed, or it would be quite unfair to tenants just because the landlord was not reachable. Imagine the fairness when rents need to be paid on time (within days agreed) but refunding deposit is just a matter of choice (within 90 days unagreed)

Expect a problematic tenancy.

I don’t normally review but my experience with this estate agents has forced my hand. We have had broken promises, problems were dealt with poorly, and communication is awful on the whole. Our property manager, Olivia Knowles was very good and very communicative, it’s a shame she was let down by the staff around her. Staff don’t seem to pass information to one another and are incredibly difficult to reach. If you’re looking to rent in Manchester, avoid Thornley Groves.

Arguably the poorest experience of any…

Arguably the poorest experience of any company I have ever dealt with.I am a landlord and would recommend anyone looking at TG avoid at all costs… Here is a summery:Exceptionally poor communication from the first property manager led me to making a complaint- TG agreed they were at fault and took the property manager off my property only to add her back 6 months after without letting me know.They re let my property without my consent.They agreed an extension of lease by lying about ramifications. On a side note - they way as a company they treat their staff is appalling- enforcing the women to wear those outfits. We’re in 2021 - not 1950.

Was really happy with how quick I secured my two bedroom flat; I can’t thank Daisy enough who I emailed like 1:00 in the morning to view a property the minute I saw it came on the market and she then phoned me the minute she got into work to book the viewing and I then took the flat off the market right away. I used Thornley Groves 6 years ago to purchase a property and they were great. This time around I was selling a property and they lived up to expectations. Excellent service received from Colette for our sale

We just sold our house in Timperley. We received excellent service from Colette. Colette was very professional, patient and understanding. We received regular updates from her on a weekly basis during the wholeprocess. The sale process took nearly 8 months, much longer than anticipated, due to two failed sales. We finally managed to sell our house for a good price at the end. We are really glad we finally got there, so we could now use the funds to extend and renovate our new house in Didsbury.

I dealt with Hannah, Natasha and Chris in the Manchester City Centre office and they were nothing short of brilliant. Without the close cooperation, out of hours support and constant chasing both seller and her solicitors i would not have hit the SD deadline and would have been without a place to live as i had sold my property.
