Our Forever Home

Since the moment we viewed our property, Charters have been incredibly helpful, supportive and had fantastic communication with us. They constantly actioned any questions or queries and were prompt to reply to emails or phone calls. Harry has been amazing and we are so thankful. When things got complicated at the end of our purchase and we were running out of time on our mortgage offer, Harry was the go between and constantly communicated with solicitors and us. Thank you for your help and selling us our beautiful, forever, family home.

1st class experience

1st class experience with both the Farnham and Alton branches of Charter’s in our hunt to buy a new home. Dee at Farnham was incredibly proactive in organising and recommending properties to view, while Sarah, Lewis and Edward, at Alton, have gone out of their way to gain timely answers (from a vendor living abroad), to queries about a property we hope to be able to buy. All round excellent customer service experienced as a prospective purchaser :-).

You'll be in safe hands throughout

My first contact with Charters was Simon Edser who came to value the property. At that stage I was unsure if I would sell or rent so his colleague Jessica Crouch also visited to add her expertise. Both were kind, helpful and efficient - including advice as to how to prepare the house for the photographer. After I'd signed up, Kevin Ashley and his team took over to arrange viewings. The house sold very quickly and then Stephen Henry took over to progress the sale. Long, long wait for probate during which time Stephen made sure I was updated on the buyer's position and other matters. As a first-time seller, I found working with Charters - every single member of the team I encountered - to be a smooth process. Simon was kind enough to recommend a local conveyancing solicitor and I felt I was in very safe hands throughout the process. Top marks all round.

Worthing - Unfortunately they do not communicate…

Unfortunately they do not communicate between themselves so tell you all different things. They now use an external company for referencing which automatically fails credit checks so you have to pay for them to garentor (even if you have a personal garentor). They are quick to chase you for information but will not respond when you request something. Definitely research before handing money to them as they do not stick to the laws around renting.

Terrible experience with Charters

Terrible experience with Charters. Lost thousands of pounds of property from my flat. Had to deal with about 15 different representatives. All as bad as each other. Honestly, they are just a bunch of crooks - there are far better agencies out there. More professional, attentive and thorough. I would not recommend anyone to use Charters. Please do not believe this '4.9'star rating that they have constructed themselves. Awful agency, awful people. STEER CLEAR !

Moving to the UK

I recently booked viewings of a few rental properties with Charters, Samuel Scott was my agent. Sam was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the houses I visited. He found the perfect place for me and helped me through the process of finalising the contract, which was not straightfwd as I still live abroad. I will most definitely go back to Charters and to Sam for my future housing needs.

Contacted the Charters Alton to buy our second home. Spoke with Richard, the manager who is friendly, extremely professional with fantastic marketing skills. His team is always happy to show any houses that we have been interested in without any pressure on us. We viewed couple of beautiful houses unfortunately they were just above our budget. Richard is genuinely honest person, always responds to my queries and he is working hard to find a suitable home for us. Sarah Harris of Charters Alton was exceptional.

Charters of Alton took on my property in May 2022. From the moment I met Sarah Harris, I felt confident in her approach and thought process in selling my home. Sarah was the only agent to take notes, ensuring that our property details were detailed and accurate. Sarah was engaging, professional and honest from start to finish and was alway available for a discussion regarding the progress of my property, which was difficult in a falling market. She always had a clear strategy in mind and I found her knowledge of the market to be excellent. On a personal level, I am also very grateful for the numerous times that she took a call from me (including out of hours), as I needed advice on a purchase of an apartment for my Dad, who is 84. This helped me to secure that purchase which had no connection or affiliation with Charters as the purchase was over 200 miles away. Honestly she went above and beyond the normal remit of service. Thank you Sarah for your honesty and up-lifting positivity but above all, your kindness. I would absolutely recommend Charters and in particular Sarah in selling your home, the whole service from all the team in Alton was exceptional. Thank you so much.

Stephen Henry has always been my first…

Stephen Henry has always been my first point of contact. The buying of my property has been fraught with problems and therefore taken a long time to complete BUT Stephen has been my saviour. Highly Recommend!

Amazing service. Have used Charters in the past to both buy and sell property and they have always been excellent. This time I was searching for a rental home, which Sarah went above and beyond to find for us. Wonderful Experience
