I purchased property through Scargill Mann a few months back and all I can say is that your company should be very proud of your standard and their staff. Response rate to enquiries is always rapid, support and advice given above and beyond even after purchase. Alison and Jane have been wonderful and the staff that did the viewings If it ever comes around to selling we will most certainly be going to you!

I put my mums property on the market with Scargill Mann, Burton office, from start to finish, Elaine was constantly in touch, updating on issues that had arose. An exceptional lady, who deserves a medal for what she does, nothing phases her. Her work colleagues are extremely good at what they do, and don't hesitate to answer any questions you have. Awful company that is only interested in the landlord’s interests. They do landlord checks of the property every 3 months which is invasive, on multiple occasions the man who does the checks turned up without our prior knowledge. On the final check, which we were not aware of, he let himself into the property when we were not home and I arrived home at 8 months pregnant to my door wide open and a strange man inside the property which was extremely distressing. We reported several issues which took months to resolve or were not resolved at all. We found out the house was being put on the market for sale when a man turned up to put the for sale sign up. I rang Scargill Mann to find out what was going on, and nobody had any idea. The house was immaculate on our departure, and they tried to take our full deposit for a damaged kitchen worktop that was damaged prior to our tenancy (which they took photographic evidence of 😂). Honestly just a horrendous company to deal with and would not recommend renting a property with them. They made my already stressful pregnancy much more stressful and made me feel unsafe in my own home.

They left me and my partner and my infant in a damp mouldy flat with mice and would not do anything about it for months. Will do anything to keep the deposit. Would never recommend.

Avoid this company like the plague. They have let my daughter & son in law live in the most disgusting conditions. From mice, to mould, to leaky window seals, a faulty boiler, asbestos & leaks. All of which was never dealt with in a decent time frame by the landlord. Apparently cats cause mould? Cats they new about may i add. If anything cat litter absorbs moisture & helps mould. The flat is terribly outdated on many levels, including a bathroom which the landlord decided to paint the inside of the bath with emulsion rather than replace, a kitchen that wouldn't look out of place in the 70's and a fire uglier than Scargill & Mann's attitude. The final straw for me was a leak in the bathroom they took forever to fix so my daughter slipped in early pregnancy and lost her babies. Now they expect to keep a bond to replace damaged carpets from the leaks they procrastinated fixing & wonder why the flat is mould infested & the carpets stink! Some legal advice is needed I think. They are lucky she didn't sue them for a miscarriage. They can replace the manky flat carpets and wallpaper. You can't replace babies. Absolutely appalling and the three years they resided at the flat they never met the landlord once! We have email evidence and photographs over a three year period & this company doesn't have a leg to stand on because every piece of correspondence, repair & email sent to them was saved & kept for the last three years.

Thank you so much to Alison, Jane and the team for such a smooth process in selling my property in Derby. The property was only up for a few days and had numerous viewings and the property was under offer within a week and sold in 10 weeks! I was updated throughout the whole process and will be using Scargill Mann & Co in the future.

Looking and applying for a letting is an unenviable chore for a 77 year old and believe it or not prejudice exists, however not with Scargill Mann where you are treated with the greatest respect. My dealings with them so far has been warm and friendly due to my contacts through Jessica. Keep up the good work.

We have had no bedroom heating for 8 months, we were left with no washing machine for 3 months, and now I have had shoes/clothes which have gone mouldy in the bedroom thanks to no heating and poor ventilation (which has been known about!). From all of these issues, there has been no compromise and I am left to cover the cost of replacing £1200 in damaged items and 3 months of laundrette costs. We had to sleep on the sofa/blow up bed over winter, we have had no use of the bedroom wardrobes, there is black mould in every room in the property that returns days after cleaning, we had threats of an energy company coming to seize goods which was nothing to do with us (which Scargill Mann were aware of but failed to sort). There has been many more issues which have led to a very stressful and unenjoyable tenancy. The lettings manager Rosena was lovely and seemed like the only person who wanted help and understood where we were coming from, but unfortunately she left. From here, everything went downhill. I don’t know who is at fault, whether it is Scargill Mann or the landlord but it is absolutely disgusting that we have had to live in the conditions we have, whilst paying £775 a month and we have been refused compensation on rent/any money towards covering the costs to replace damaged items. We will never rent with Scargill Mann again, and in the future we will definitely not be buying from them if this is what they allow to happen to paying tenants!

The ladies in the Burton office have been extremely helpful every step of the way regularly giving us updates and information both through email and phone contact.
