GoogleTerrible service. Time and time again they have failed to deliver us promises over WiFi. We have been without WiFi for 4 weeks, and soon to be 5/6/7. Shambolic organisation, commitment and just overall customer service.
Calling up on the phone does nothing, they apologise and blame it on something else.
Walking into the office does nothing, they apologise and blame it on something else.
The underlying theme for Purple Frog seems to be that they do not care about students in the slightest. If you are a student looking for a house, avoid purple frog like the plague. They will only rip you off and cause you more problems. If only I could give 0 stars...

GoogleI really regret signing the contract with Purple Frog this year, and would encourage new students to Avoid this Letting Agency.
I was shown a room during my viewing and was told it was available. A week later after settling in, they tell me I signed for a different room and that I have to move my stuff. No one should ever go through such unnecessary stress when moving into a new home.
In addition to that, I have to pay the same price for a tiny room, a window that cant be opened, a wonky table, no bedside desk and a dongle for Wifi (amongst 7).
This has been the worst experience in my 4 years of University, and it is such a pity that the people at Purple Frog cant do their jobs competently.
I have been scammed into signing a contract, and will never forgive those at Purple Frog for putting me in this situation, but more so for the lies. Their lack of diligence and professionalism has been the worst I've ever seen in any organisation. They don't care about the tenants, only the money that keeps the landlords happy.
ps, Id give it less than 1* if I could!!

Dear Steven
Sorry you are unhappy with your room.
Having spoken to the branch manager at Birmingham about this, I understand that you raised a complaint with the team at the branch.
Unfortunately, our response online won't differ to the one you received following the manager's investigation and previous response to you.
During your viewing, you were shown the room that you eventually booked. Your contract also states that the room you are living in is the room you agreed to take.
The branch manager explained that, if you are unhappy with the accommodation, we will waive the normal novation fee. This means you are free to find alternative accommodation, at no cost.
The dongle is temporary. The WiFi for the property is due to be installed on the 4th.
I have asked the branch to log the wonky table and desk with the maintenance team.
Sorry that you are not happy with the accommodation or the response you got following the branch investigating your complaint.
As previously explained, if you wish to find another tenant to replace you, we will help you as much as possible, including waiving the normal cost of the process.
Kind regards
James Mason

GoogleLeah was so helpful when I contacted Purple Frog. She made sure to efficiently field all my queries and was really patient with me. As a student, this made my life so much easier and helped reassure me.

GoogleHelpful and professional. I talked with Hannah, who took care of me during the choise of the house and during the operations of reservation of the room and arrangement of the contract and I have nothing to say about her besides that she has been really nice and precise in her job.
Sophie showed me the houses and again I have been satisfacted by her availability.
Good job, five stars!

GoogleAppalling company.
I would imagine most of these 5* reviews are from people who are yet to move into the property. They're lovely when you're thinking of signing. They'll go above and beyond to help you, so I can't fault them on that. Do note however this is when they ask you to write a review...
However, once you've moved in they are completely useless.
Their phone manner is appalling. Expect to be on the phone for a good 5 to 10 minutes before anyone picks up. When they do, it's the usual response that Ben, who deals with maintenance, isn't in but if you contact whoever is on the phone they'll sort it for you. They never do.
I have been emailing pretty much weekly since I moved in about my broken radiator and lack of furnishings that are included in our contract and get continuously ignored. 2 months in and it's now reaching 0 degrees at night, and I am still having to use a plug in electrical heater.
When our fire alarm was going off 20 times during the night and day, they also did nothing. Instead we had to seek advice from our room mates step father who is an electrician.
We didn't have any internet until 2 months after moving in. A dongle was provided, however this was not sustainable as Purple Frog seldom topped it up and when they did, it was inadequate GB for the 7 people in the property that used it.
Regarding viewings, they rarely give 24 hours notice. This personally is not too annoying, until this weekend when they gave no notice, and let themselves into my bedroom not even bothering to see if anyone was in. When asking what was happening, I was told this was to view the spare bedroom, but instead the lady decided to go in everyone's room instead. Additionally, they also love to not lock your doors again after viewings.
I have rented both professionally and as a student for 6 years and Purple Frog are the worst company I have ever been with. Expect your phone calls and emails to be ignored, as once you've signed the contract, they simply don't care.
Don't follow the reviews on here and listen to your friends and Facebook posts. They are to be avoided for a reason.

GoogleVery slick and well groomed online service for filling in forms. The company has a nice array of properties on offer and very good show round services. However the firm needs to improve communication within its office, as when we requested a new tenancy agreement to be sent through this was not sent and we received an aggressive email stating the property would be placed back on to the market. Fortunately the forms assistant (Shania) remembered our case and managed to sort it out. Despite this and some other admin errors regarding our deposit being the wrong amount, purple frog was all round a good estate agent to deal with. Giving them benefit of the doubt, as we were a complex tenancy!
Thank you to the team

GoogleUnfortunately, I had come across with this agency. I could write a long story but I will concentrate only in the main points. I have rented a one bed flat with them and I am a professional worker.
First of all, after one month I moved in, they already contacted me asking if I was going to have the property for the next year otherwise they would advertise the house. They advertised the house with 10 months for my contract to end, since I didn't want to confirm 10 months in advance whether I was going to renew the contract. At the same time, I did not have hot water in the tabs and after complaining constantly, around the third (maybe more) time the engineer went to look at it I wanted to be present. He advised me that the boiler needed to be changed because was not working properly, but they need to contact the landlord first, after that they solved the problem with the hot water (after around 3 months). At the end of my contract they charged me Β£40 for each time that the engineer attended the house, because according to them the boiler was not broken... I was really irritated, I spent hours trying to solve the problem myself and contacting them with regards to this, for having to pay for something essential that they should have provided and on top of it telling me that it was not broken, and I was lying?! Like I have nothing else to do, and I enjoy myself chasing them up and making it up that I didn't have hot water ... In addition, of course many other charges that they came up with to avoid returning the deposit, such as charging around Β£200 because the platform bed frame was in a poor condition. DO NOT GET A CONTRACT WITH THEM to avoid disappointments, or make sure you to check also the platform bed frame before you move in.

GoogleHandled our tenancy very poorly, ended up getting emails from a ridiculous amount of people to deal with our 1 group, which led to a lot of confusion and us having to explain our situation to multiple people. It was clear there was no communication within their agency as to who was dealing with our house and the information we provided. Very unprofessional and stressful experience. Would not recommend

GoogleThe would highly recommend avoiding PURPLE FROG lettings agency at all costs! Especially as a student.
I have had the unfortunate pleasure of renting a house that was with purple frog this year, never have I experienced such incompetent lettings agents and difficulties regarding every possible liaison.
*when we moved into the house, the condition was a poor state of wear and tear also there was a large amount of rubbish at the property that took months to dispose of. This issue was reported to the lettings agency but nothing was done.
*No communication across the office staff regarding issues and staff change there so often that you have no idea who is in charge of what. When I have rung the agency to chase up matters previously ignored over email. I have found the staff to be very rude and patronising. Which has left me feeling rather dissatisfied given that I am supposed to be the customer.
*It has taken the agency over 6 weeks to resolve maintenance issues.
*Upon leaving property almost all tenants had over half of their deposits withheld either for damage caused by previous tenancies or for overly expensive unnecessary cleaning. Which I felt was criminal considering the condition of the house when we moved in.
* There has been no consideration taken into account for the fact that we have been in a national pandemic and tenants left the house suddenly. Leaving the house in the best possible condition and to a better standard than we found the house despite the fact they hadn't even provided us with a working hoover.
* Nothing was done about damp issues in the house, caused by blown rendering on the exterior of the property. Purple frogs solution was to wipe the walls with detol. The condition of the property was reported as unsafe for in habitation during a council inspection.
*purple frog also tried to charge us for the removal of fly tipped items despite the fact we reporting the issue at the beginning of tenancy.
*My lock malfunctioned and jammed late at night meaning I couldn't get into my room, initially purple frog refused to do anything about this. Even after I persuaded them to get out a locksmith hours later. They queried who should pay for it. They also tried to persuade me to put up with not having a new lock on my room, leaving my personal belongings at risk.
* Upon showing tenants around the house usually at last minute notice. My room was left unlocked, when i had previously locked it.
*fire safety issues left unresolved.
After your contract is signed Purple Frog will ignore you and offer a very bad service prioritising signing new tenancy contracts.
Purple frog will try to charge you for absolutely anything they can. So if you do end renting with them cover your back and report/photograph everything.
Purple frog also insist on using their own cleaners at the end of a tenancy and they have a policy whereby they wont give out keys to other cleaning companies. This is designed so that their cleaners can charge you whatever they please and have the monopoly on the situation.
Quite frankly a nightmare of a lettings experience.
No consideration for the tenants whatsoever and I feel they have been extremely unreasonable given the hard circumstances as of late regarding Coronavirus.
I for one will never use purple frog again.

GoogleHave been renting a student house with Purple Frog for nearly a year and have been extremely disappointed with the quality of service. House was not clean when we moved in, I was asked to move out for a week to allow building work (which hasn't even begun two and a half weeks later). The house is not legally eligible as a 6-bed rental, yet we have had 6 people living in it all year. When raising complaints with our property manager, I was treated to dishonesty and a lack of accountability. Poor to the edge of fraudulent way of operating.

GoogleMy name is Dionne and I stayed at one of the properties of purple frog. I did not receive good service at this residence as there was many problems with the accomodation and locals breaking into the residence. However, Zita Goldie was so nice, helpful and could always count on her. I am so lucky to have met her as she was very helpful especially when I was harrassed by someone who broke into the flat. I am so thankful that I have met Zita and I really appreciate everything she has done for me. She is truly amazing and the best person to contact in purple frog, as she always goes out her way to make sure your always looked after. Thanks so much Zita, your the best! Wishing you the best and successes in the future.

GoogleOne year with Purple Frog Bristol was one year too many. The student property I lived in was a squalid, dirty and unpleasant place to live . Some team members of Purple Frog were helpful with repairs in the house, but on the most part they were rude and unhelpful. Their team changes so often matters are often forgotten and have to be re-explained. Viewings of your room were made without you knowing, leaving bedroom doors unlocked. The worst of all was their refusal to return my deposit after claiming that I had left the property in a terrible condition, even though this wasn't my doing. It took almost seven months to refund my deposit after an enormous amount of effort. Please try and persist in getting your deposit back even if they decline! Strongly do not recommend dealing with Purple frog.

GoogleIrresponsible dishonest staff... I transferred them Β£174 in Feb 2020 as the administration fee for a student flat in B'ham and due to Covid-19 Pandemic, I was forced to cancel my contract by the UK Government. But, they did not refund this amount and gave me some excuses such as its in the governments deposit schemes or this money is to take the room off the market although I was promised full refund.
This company is a fraud and a lie. Don't even get near them....

GoogleI stayed at a PurpleFrog property through September 2018 to September 2019 and the standard of communication was very poor for the entirety of the tenancy. Maintenance requests were very slow to be dealt with and we have still not received our deposit despite moving out roughly two months ago. The furniture provided was very poor quality and in the house there were two wardrobes and a bed broken as a consequence of wear and tear - we were charged excessively for the replacement of these with higher quality alternatives.
After renting a property from a private landlord for over a month now the experience has been very different. I would never recommend Purple Frog as there are much better agencies and methods of renting in the city of Bristol.
