*UPDATE* In response to Oakwood's response, we did not orchestrate any kind of chain collapse - twice we had an offer accepted and on both occasions the sellers had their purchase fall through, in the space of a couple of weeks. Sounds too coincidental, right? What an unprofessional and disappointing response from a supposedly reputable business. --------------------- Unfortunately as a first-time buyers my partner and I didn't have a great experience with Oakwood. On two occasions we have had confirmed offers fall through after two different sellers (who we were assured had a target property lined up ready to go) were unsuccessful in their own purchases. This was after weeks of daily aggressive and repetitive conversations asking us to increase our offer, without also asking the vendors to come to the negotiation table in the changeable housing market we find ourselves in in April 2023. We were given all sorts of frankly bizarre stories as reasons for increasing our offer, including that another party "would have offered more but had a stillbirth so had to pull out"... why on earth would you tell another buyer that?!! Totally unprofessional. Strangely enough after the increased offer was accepted in both circumstances, total radio silence followed and it was us chasing Oakwood for an update on the situation, as if it's OK to let us as the end chain buyer to sit dangling on a thread as we've got nothing better to do. Definitely felt like we were given the runaround and used as bait for a quick sale, only to be dumped and forgotten about when an offer was accepted. Needless to say didn't get so much as a response when we pulled out of the current offer. Would not want to do business with a company that treats a several-thousand-pound transaction with such contempt and tries to take advantage of young first-time buyers. I am very skeptical of all the one-review 5* comments here.

Oakwood Estates, Clare and Kirsty in particular, were a pleasure to deal with from the start and found us a buyer quickly and at the right price. We had a bit of a disaster when the buyer pulled out unexpectedly, but Oakwood found another within 48 hours. They were proactive with managing the chain while our new buyer got up to speed and then had to manage further issues down the line when our lender was being slow! I cannot fault them and I don’t think we would have managed to complete on both our sale and purchase (which we also found via Oakwood) without the help of Clare and her team.
