GoogleSome of the staff at Oakwood Estates did a good job, was proactive - this includes the staff in charge of viewings and admin. However, my experience with Edward Godfrey during the purchase process was frustrating from start to finish. Communication was inconsistent, and I had to chase repeatedly for updates that should have been proactively provided. Most importantly, they failed to clearly disclose that the sellers were in the process of re-creating a chain, a major detail that significantly affected the timeline and complexity of the purchase. We had to keep amending our plans 3/4 times as a result. This lack of transparency felt either careless or deliberately misleading. Buying a property is already stressful; working with an agent who withholds key information and communicates poorly only makes it worse. I wouldn’t recommend Edward Godfrey based on this experience.
Dear Mr Wolf Thank you for sharing your review. To put everything into context, we note that your offer was accepted on 20th February and you exchanged on your purchase on 27th June (18 weeks later which is currently quicker than average based on data taken from Rightmove). Within that period, you received 38 SMS updates from Mr Godfrey, and exchanged 37 email responses with Mr Godfrey. This totals 75 responses over an 18 week period (or 4 updates per week). This does not include telephone calls - it should be added that a lot of these contacts and responses were made and received by you outside of office hours and on bank holidays when the office was closed (for reference one of these was on Easter Monday / 21st April). On the subject of the chain, we do not understand why you have brought this up as the vendors broke the chain to allow to you complete?, so what you have written is clearly a misrepresentation of events. It is unfortunate that you have decided to create this review which is effectively not a true representation of the events which occurred but we do wish you the best of luck with your future endeavours. GoogleThe Oakwood team at Burnham have excelled yet again in finding a suitable tenant for a local property ! Particular thanks go to Katie and Rebecca for their polite, professional and efficient manner in dealing with all aspects of this process. Additionally, during their holidays, I was very impressed to be looked after by Rachel (Regional Lettings manager) who spent a lot and time and effort, in between her other commitments, to finalise this agreement and ensure that landlord and tenants were all very happy. GoogleOakwood Estates has shown a worrying lack of professionalism and respect for tenants. The staff clearly do not understand even the basics of property management and have no regard for tenant privacy. Firstly, they allowed a potential buyer to take photos inside the property without the tenant’s permission, a serious invasion of privacy. More recently, they tried to access the property without informing or getting consent from the tenant, which is completely unacceptable and unlawful. Letting agents have a duty to act responsibly and lawfully, but Oakwood Estates has repeatedly failed on both counts. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a competent or respectful agency.
