We purchased our property, 6 years ago, through Michaels and were so impressed with the service when we decided to sell they were the only Estate Agent we contacted. So happy we did. From Cameron, taking photos and doing the initial consultation, Michael compiling the brochure and Lee and Ollie arranging viewings, the service has been first class. However they really come into their own with the fantastic customer service, and support, provided by Nikki.

GoogleWe rented through this company for two years, and it was by far the worst experience I’ve had with a real estate agency, and I’ve dealt with many across different countries. When I moved in, the property was in a truly appalling condition. It had clearly not been cleaned at all after the previous tenants left. There was for example rotten, uneaten food in the oven and urine throughout the bathroom. I had specifically been asked to delay my move-in date so the property could be professionally cleaned (they were aware of the condition), which was obviously not done. After I complained, they eventually sent cleaners, but in the meantime, I had to stay in a hotel because the property was completely horrendous. When I politely requested financial compensation for this, I was met with reluctance, a lack of empathy, and what felt like dismissive and dishonest responses, with an underlying misogynistic tone. Throughout the tenancy, we experienced multiple issues that were largely ignored. These included problems with hot water, I was told to my face that a 37°C shower is “standard” in the UK and sufficient, as well as faulty heaters that claimed to be working while failing to heat the property and consuming excessive energy. There was also substantial mould growth, which was only addressed months later. Even then, the issue was not properly resolved, they simply installed a small fan and considered the matter closed, without cleaning or treating the mould itself. There were more issues, but these examples give a clear picture. It was such a relief to finally be done with them. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders after such a stressful experience. Real estate agencies often have a poor reputation, but this one stands out as particularly bad, even among the worst. I strongly advise avoiding this company for tenants and landlords!

Michael’s was the estate agent I bought my property through rather than the one I sold through and I wish I had sold through them as well, as they were so much better than my estate agent! Michael’s kept me updated all the way through a very drawn out and painful procedure and were always contactable via phone and email. Jacqui, Sales progressor, kept us informed with regular updates but she also was a great support when our first house sale fell through. However, with dedicated team effort from Colchester branch and Halstead we have now exchanged contracts, so we have our happy ending. Thank you all so much!
