Just moved into my Brand New Hopkins Home at ST. Georges Place. Shaun Tate was my first point of contact and remained in contact from start to finish, I can not recommend him enough, he was incredibly personable, professional and a joy to deal with (give the man a pay rise please). Also, Andy (Site Manager) was also very helpful, both are superb representatives of their company.

Hopkins homes faliure again

Hopkins has failed again, Since moving into our property in 2017, the doors have been repaired 3 times, customer services at Hopkins is like the "Black pearl", only interested in your money. Our neighbours also who have bought from Hopkins have expressed their dismay at the service provided, windows, doors and general finishing is poor standard. I am still waiting on my back door to be fixed, 4 weeks on and still no engineer, I have a chronic ill daughter who cannot access through this door which is a huge problem.

Check your wood burning stove installation.

We have just moved into a five year old house built by this builder and would describe the work inside as shoddy with rather cheap, low spec, fittings considering the high cost of the house. The worst thing however, is discovering the wood burning stove had been installed in breach of regulations with insufficient gap between the oak lintel and the flue. This is of course a fire risk which currently would not be met by insurance. We are having it rectified (as it will now be too late to go through NHBC). Our advice is to check very carefully if you have bought a similar house recently. The regulations date from 2001.

Excellent customer service and a quality home.

From start to finish, we have recieved excellent customer service from Hopkins (Ely). As first time buyers we were well supported from reservation, to sale, to move. All our queries were responded to very quickly and with all the detail we needed. The aftercare team dealt with a list of superficial fixes very quickly and still now, 7 months on, if we spot something that needs tweaking, they are friendly and helpful. We are grateful for the incentives we were offered and although we didn't go for the added extras (mark-up is high), we found that our budget was catered for well. The house itself is built well and has a more distinguished look than a lot of other new builds.Thank you Hopkins for our beautiful home.

If your thinking of purchasing a home…

If your thinking of purchasing a home from Hopkins Homes, please be aware the after care you receive is extremely poor.Unfortunately I have been in my property for over two years and still have outstanding issues.I have been lied to on two occasions by the aftercare team which has been confirmed by our convenience of having cctv outside the property.Avoided when called to ask when the issues in my home will be rectified.Build so far been fine workmanship horrendous!Hugely disappointed. As long as you don’t mind never getting a reasonable response to your problems after you move in, and want your house still unfit after two years, go ahead !

I have very much enjoyed living in my Hopkins home, I did have a few issues with my boiler which has resulted in hopkins being prompt to come out and make necessary repairs. The house itself has been amazing and I feel so lucky to have such a beautiful home as my new house. I do feel Hopkins could take some more time in their customer care to directly contact each house owner as currently, you have to contact them more than once before you get a response, and response time can be slow. I would recommend buying a Hopkins home and I would consider purchasing another Hopkins home.

Excellent customer service and “home”!

I deeply care about this kind of reviews that’s why I'm writing now, I mean 6 months after moving. I read the reviews before buying my home and I decided not to buy. I was considering another new built one which built outside of Ely. I wanted to pop in Hopkin’s sales Office for the last time and Sharon Stone did her best to persuade me. First of all, I want to thank her very much, because if she did not explain to me what kind of houses are the Hopkin’s one, I would not live here, in my lovely home. If I did not meet her, I would be living in another place. Thanks, Sharon, a lot.Hopkin’s Homes delivered my home at the exact day that they promised. There were some little incompleteness or faults but the important part was they tried to compensate every detail with their hearts and souls. I was dealing these things with Jason and Lindsay but I can declare that all the staff were kind and they were dedicating themselves. Thanks a lot to all of them. The corruptions start at the top. In other words, I think that the behaviour of the head of the company affects all company employees. Companies that treat their customers like their families will always remain. Thank you very much Hopkins Homes.

Very positive intervention from Lee Barnard National Sale’s Director for Hopkins Homes - thank you

I have had a strong intervention from Hopkins National Sales and Marketing Director Lee Barnard. He has personally intervened and pulled my completion date forward considerably to 28th November. I am very grateful for his intervention and he has certainly fully responded to my customer needs. So looking forward to getting moved into our new home on the 28th.... thanks very much to Hopkins and the team for achieving a 5 week reservation to completion. I am a delighted customer - thank you

Shaun was very kind and helpful throughout the process of securing and moving into my flat. He consistently responded in a timely manner, is approachable, friendly, and provided me with clear and accurate information. Considering I was a first time buyer I quickly gave Shaun my full trust and felt very much at ease throughout the whole process.Highly recommend speaking with Shaun regarding any properties on the St Georges Place development in Sprowston, Norwich. The aftercare since buying the property has been fantastic as well.

First time buyers - Saxon Meadow

As first time buyers we had little knowledge/experience of buying a house, however from the first time we stepped into the sales office at Saxon Meadow Katie (Sales Executive at the Saxon Meadow), made us feel at ease. Katie has been so helpful throughout the process from reserving our plot, to picking our choices & completing on our very first home. She talked through the whole process with us and answered any questions we had, however big or small. Hopkins Homes also suggested Gotolee and JustMortgages, Katie introduced us to both Jade & Fiona (who were both amazing!), it made our experience that much smoother! On familiarisation day & completion day the site managers & Katie were both on hand to answer any questions we had.Thank you Katie & Hopkins Homes for helping us buy our first home - we LOVE it!

St James Park Ely

We have had a wonderful experience with Hopkins Homes from the moment we reserved to completion. Sharon the sales consultant has been amazing to have as a go to person. She kept us informed and helped us throughout the process from start to finish. She made the whole process of buying the house very easy for us. Sharon is such a warm, helpful, approachable and trustworthy person. The finishing of our house is to high standards and the personal touches has also made it a beautiful family home to live in. My hubby and I are very impressed with Sharon and Hopkins homes Ely team and would highly recommend them.

Very bad customer care!!

Very bad customer care, buyer beware!Poor service, poor communication, and a lack of clarity and a flexibility from their so called “customer charter”, not worth the paper it is written on. Following purchasing a £300K Hopkins homes house, my mother had various health problems which caused her to be hospitalised during the first 2 years, and was affected in mental and physical health. Rather than honour the long snagging list, the so called customer care head manager refused to make good on the repairs as the email could not be located, due to the lack of company continuity due to the various customer care advisors who do not stay long, due to the many and constant customer complaints!!

Beware the future Management Charge Potential.

My wife and I were dowsizing and thought that we liked the look of a Hopkins house and we were willing to spend in excess of £700K.We were, however, advised that there was an annual management charge but this was "only £25 a year". We requested details of the identity of the managers and the wording which imposed these charges. Initially I was informed that it was necessary to reserve a property and a contract would be issued to our solicitor who would explain it to us. I was insulted that the suggested route inferred that I was unable to read and understand English and further if I decided I did not like the terms a proportion of the deposit would be non refundable. After some time they decided to forward the relevant section of the deeds which indicated that the annual charges were "at the sole discretion of the managers". In layman terms they could charge what they wished and the purchaser had no input. On pointing this out to the sales staff they did not refute the position and I, therefore, decided not to proceed with the purchase. My advice to any would be purchaser is be aware of the "all-embracing" nature of the contractual wording and the future implication of charges. It also interesting to note that the identity of the management company was never disclosed and I am left to ponder why!

Hopkins Homes gave us the perfect house buying experience

We found buying a house at St Georges Place, Sprowston was easy with the help of Hopkins Homes. We were looking to buy our first home together from the proceeds of the flats we were each living in. Having researched our options, we were looking for a three-bedroom home in our local area of Sprowston, Norfolk. Having looked at a number of older properties, we both agreed that we would prefer to buy a new home. Both of us had bought our current flats new, and we felt that we can never be sure of what we’re getting when you buy an older home. There are no guarantees about the boiler, electrics or other maintenance issues. When you buy a new home, the developers are on hand to fix anything you might not be happy with. There’s also something really nice about being the only people to have lived in a house. We visited a number of new developments in the area but hadn’t found the right home, one three-bedroom house, with another developer, looked good but had a tiny garden. We then disregarded another development because of a rude and dismissive sales consultant! Then we came across Hopkins Homes’ St George’s Place development in summer 2018 and instantly liked how it looked, the care they took with both external and internal features set them apart from the others. Sales consultant Shaun quickly found us a lovely three-bedroom home. We knew we didn’t want a town-house style property, and Shaun showed us a lovely two-storey home with a huge, south facing garden. We knew it would be perfect. We wanted to reserve it straight away, but unfortunately you can’t make a reservation until you’ve sold your existing property, and in our case that meant BOTH properties.Luckily, my flat sold within two weeks the other a couple of weeks after that and for a price we were both happy with.Once we had successfully reserved our new home, the rest was plain sailing. Our properties sold without a hitch in October and we got on with choosing the kitchen, flooring and restroom tiles as our house continued construction. By the end of February 2019, we had moved in. We love it, it’s just perfect. It’s so good to have an upstairs! I work from home so one of the bedrooms is now my office, then we have a guest room and the main bedroom. We’re also enjoying having a parking area and a garage for the first time. We’re looking forward to getting the garden done so that we can really enjoy it in the summer.Buying with Hopkins Homes was a great decision. The only stress was the rush to sell our properties. Shaun has been amazing throughout, and everything has gone so smoothly. He didn’t dismiss these two young people that had walked through his door, not having put their properties on the market yet. He was helpful, supportive and positive, which helped us move forward and get us our beautiful new home. I know lots of people who have stories to tell about buying a new home, but I’ve never heard a bad word about Hopkins Homes, now I can see why!”
