Stephen Ashby handled my purchase. From the get-go he was thoroughly on the case. He answered every request from minor to major promptly and in detail, orchestrated viewings and kept me up to date at every stage of the process. Add to this he is a pleasure to deal with, calm, friendly and hugely efficient. Engaging with him has made me question why estate agents often get a bad rep. I cannot recommend him too highly.

We bought a flat through Hawes and Co in Wimbledon Village many years ago and have used them to subsequently rent out the flat and provide a full management service. They have been an absolute pleasure to work with - professional, friendly, and helpful and in fact, nothing is ever too much trouble. Most especially though, they are really friendly and we so enjoy working with John, Nicola, Emily, Charlie and so many more. They have always found outstanding tenants for us and managed their tenancy with a full management package. Not only have they done that, but they have been very open with sharing their fabulous contractors and recommending any service required to facilitate the very stressful home purchasing and renting process. I could not recommend them highly enough.

We worked closely with Damian Anderson from the Raynes Park Office & Sarah at the New Malden Branch. Both were very pleasant throughout the process. We have just completed a purchase of our property in the New Malden Area, both Sarah and Damien took time out of their busy schedule to show us around a few times ( before and after sale had been agreed). The negotiations were a little bit ropey, but this was due to the vendors. There was open communication through solicitor stages too, which was handy so we all knew what was going on & they got in contact with the vendors/ us when there was any delay to speed things up. We worked closely with Damian Anderson and Daniel Archer during the purchase of our house in West Wimbledon. Both are very nice persons and knowledgeable with the property market in the area. They arranged and took us to view the property many times because we did not use a surveyor and hence had to assess the house condition by ourselves. They were also very helpful in the lengthy negotiation because we made 4, 5 offers, and finally we reached decent price for the property which has been kept by the previous owner in a very good condition (we have not found any major or unexpected problems 4 weeks after moving in). Both were very active in reaching out to both our and the vendors solicitors to get things done quickly especially during the final few weeks before exchange of contract. Since we needed to sell our previous home in order to buy, they showed patience when things did not go smoothly at the beginning because we lost 2 buyers of our previous home before we managed to sell. Damian also helped us to persuade the vendor to break the property chain, for otherwise it is unlikely that the transaction would have been completed in a short period of time in the current market condition (before Brexit in March 2019). In conclusion, it is a pleasant experience to work with both Damian and Daniel.

We used Hawes & Co when renting our flat in Wimbledon and we were not happy with the service. The agency fee was the highest we have ever had to pay in London over the last 10 years and it was absolutely not worth it. Whenever we contacted them about issues such as extending the contract, the check out date or anything else that required an action from them reply was along the line "we contacted the landlord and there was no reply, you may want to get in touch with him yourselves". We could have waited for weeks and nothing was done until we managed to contact the landlord and ask him to email them himself. Also at the end of tenancy they deducted the check out fee from our deposit without informing us about this, and without an invoice, which is actually illegal. Avoid if you can.
