Unfortunately, my experience with GSC Grays left me feeling that I had to end my instruction due to a complete loss of confidence in the way my property keys were handled. During my instruction, I discovered through an AirTag attached to my property keys that they had been taken to a private address and remained there overnight. The company acknowledged that a member of staff had accidentally taken the keys home. Whilst I accept that mistakes can happen, I consider the security of my property keys to be of paramount importance. There were other occassions over the past 2 months where the location of the the property keys were in other areas of Barnard Castle, well away from the branch, which I found very concerning as there were no viewings booked. When I asked about the security of the keys, I was initially told that the keys had not been touched since May 23rd 2026. When I showed some of the documented photograph evidence (I have many more on other occassions), they admitted the initial mistake. Since that incident, I found myself checking the location of my keys several times a day because I no longer had confidence in the procedures for safeguarding them. As a homeowner, I should never feel the need to monitor the whereabouts of my own keys. One of the questions that immediately came to mind was what would have happened had the property been burgled or suffered an emergency while the keys were at a private address overnight. I found myself wondering what the implications would have been for both GSC Grays and the member of staff who had inadvertently taken the keys home. Fortunately, nothing did happen, but I do not believe clients should ever be placed in a position where such questions need to be asked. In my view, property keys should remain securely within the branch, except when being used for an authorised viewing or other legitimate business purpose. What I found particularly disappointing was the lack of accountability from the branch's management. At no stage did I receive any communication or apology from the Branch Manager on behalf of the office for what I regarded as a serious breach of trust. A simple apology from the person responsible for managing the branch would have demonstrated that the matter was being treated with the seriousness it deserved. Instead, all communication came from a Senior Sales Negotiator. Whilst I appreciate their efforts, I believe this situation warranted ownership and accountability from the Branch Manager. As a result of the incident, I reactivated 24-hour CCTV monitoring at the property and arranged to have the locks changed for my own peace of mind. These were costs and concerns that I never expected to incur. Trust is fundamental when appointing an estate agent. You are entrusting them with access to your home, and unfortunately this incident irreparably damaged my confidence. For that reason, I exercised my contractual right to terminate my instruction by giving the agreed notice. I hope GSC Grays reviews its key security procedures and internal management processes so that future clients can have greater confidence in how their property keys are managed and in how serious issues are handled when they arise.

I was very impressed with the whole service from the initial consultation right through to the support provided by the after-sales team. From the very beginning, everyone took the time to explain the process clearly, answer any questions I had, and make me feel completely at ease. The entire team was highly professional, knowledgeable, and efficient, yet always approachable and genuinely friendly. Selling a home can often be a stressful experience, but they made the whole process smooth and straightforward. Communication was excellent throughout, and I always felt well informed and supported at every stage. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and their commitment to providing outstanding customer service really stood out. I am extremely pleased with the experience and would certainly recommend them to anyone considering selling their home. Their combination of professionalism, expertise, and personal service made all the difference, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

I experienced a lack of communication from this business. After making contact about a property to let, I received no response. Clear and timely communication is key in any professional service, and the absence of even a brief acknowledgement was disappointing. This experience did not inspire confidence and suggests there may be issues with their communication processes.

Awful communication

GSC Grays look the part - country clothing, flashy brochure claiming to be great at communicating and selling your property and they were so lovely when they came to value and photograph our home. However, in truth they are not great or even okay at communicating. After paying the initial fee for their services, we had to constantly chase them for information about the few viewings that they managed; they didn’t return calls and we were left hanging a lot of the time. Over a week to reply to emails or calls at times. Then to cap it all, when you’ve really had enough of doing their job for them, they charge you an extortionate fee just to leave them - after the initial contract period has passed too ! So in essence, if they don’t sell your property or you decide not to move etc they fine you ! If you want to sell your property I’d look somewhere else other than GSC Grays. Awful experience at an already stressful time.

Absolutely superb service from start to finish. We had no idea how stressful the process of selling a house is nowadays, having owned the home that we have just sold for 25 years. Louise and Abbie in the Colburn office, and then the Sales Progression team looked after us every slippery step of the way, ensuring that we always felt fully informed throughout the entire process: from launching to market, accompanied viewings, offer, exchange and finally, completion. A very professional organisation, and highly recommended.

I would recommend Harriet Naish Bain in the Boroughbridge office to anyone looking to sell their property. From start to finish she was nothing short of a superhero! I will be forever grateful for her delivering what she promised and her constant communication throughout the process.

We just had a great experience purchasing our new home from GSC Grays, Boroughbridge. Amie Lynch and her, team Annie, Marie, Kathryn and Vicky (and anyone else I've missed) did a fantastic job. I would like to thank them for their hard work and diligence in aiding the completion of our house purchase in just 6 weeks. They worked tirelessly with the solicitors to achieve completion before the increase in stamp duty was implemented. They were helpful, efficient and professional at all times. What a pleasure to deal with. Thank you very much, we really appreciate all your efforts

Superb from start to finish. Harriet and Zita were brilliant at their jobs, they advised us and supported us with all aspects of the sale of our house. They know the area extremely well and the market. I would highly recommend GSC Grays at Boroughbridge. The conveyancing team were also very good and kept us informed as the sale progressed to completion. Thank you.

Just as I had a wining bid and all of a sudden my details are not correct after I had 4 bids already. This is 15 minutes before the auction ends. Very bad experience. Do not even waste your time with this company.

I'm not usually in the habit of posting reviews on Google, but we recently bought a house in Boroughbridge through the local branch of GSC Grays. The service we received from Harriet and Amy was top class, with excellent communication around appointments, making the offer, arranging additional visits etc. In addition, having a central team in Barnard Castle to hand-hold once the offer had been accepted really helped the transaction to land smoothly. Picked up the keys today! Would definitely recommend them Kind regards.

Answered the phone promptly and courteously but could not help as once again the landlord would not accept one well behaved dog. Sadly this is the norm wherever I ring.
