The initial process of securing a rental property was about as painless as I can imagine it being. The process is mapped out step by step and each step given a deadline to keep things moving. After this it went downhill, we had leak in our ceiling Christmas Eve which had evidently been logged from the upstairs flat where the roof was leaking but no one had told us it could potentially come into ours. Meaning it ruined Christmas. It then didn’t get fixed for another 5-6 months and when it was fixed paint and filler got over our furniture and rugs and no compensation was offered. But our rent was still put up even though they hadn’t fixed the problem and they only communicated with the upstairs tennants and not us. When initially took the property on we were told pets were welcome, then due to a family bereavement we inherited a dog, which gatekeeper told us initially we wouldn’t have to declare to the landlord if it was only going to be temporary but we wanted to do things to the book as we know there is an additional fee for having pets and wanted that included in our rent. When we did this the landlord was like nope sorry I don’t except pets and we were told to just get rid of the dog. Which after losing a close family member is quite inconsiderate and then they were like when they you need to find somewhere else to live but it would mean leaving the tenancy early as before our bereavement we had just signed our new tennancy for a year. We were then told we would have to pay and early checkout fee of £1500 to leave early. So we set in motion trying to find somewhere else that excepted pets, we eventually found somewhere and went back to them to ask to checkout early and they now want to charge us nearly £1900 even though it’s 2 months after that initial quote. I’ve never known any other rental company charge so much for early checkout, especially when they know the landlord wants us out because of the dog. It’s ridiculous especially after everything we have gone through with the leak etc. Would 100% not recommend to rent from them unless you don’t plan to have any unexpected things happen in your life - staff at Witney branch very rude and not understanding at all. Having lived/rented generally globally in over 80 different properties in the last 80 years or so, I confirm my already recorded Conclusion elsewhere on this Company's website that my experience with them over 23/24 July 2022 based on the Witney office - Director Phil Kendall. The business is operated exceptionally wel, as atrue breath of fresh air in a business field often attracting very public adverse comments. It deserves fully the voluminous and growing acclaim from private individuals now reaching vast size elsewhere on the website. Keep up the Great Works, Messrs Gatekeepers - and please be terribly NOT to be come self-satisfied, thereby at immediate risk of losing your hard gained reoutation almost overnight. ! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. It makes such a difference to the whole team. We will continue to work hard and I hope that we can help you further. Vanessa
