Absolutely awful company. By far the worst letting agency on the market. The owner must be clueless or downright greedy as they steal people's deposits. So many others say the same thing, and they are literally the reason letting agencies get a bad rep. We left our apartment in immaculate condition, better than when we received it, which we have photo and video evidence of, yet they still deduct money from the deposit, so there is literally no point in cleaning your apartment when you leave as they will still deduct money from your deposit. Louis was also terrible to deal with, taking ages to reply and not helping whatsoever. AVOID.

This is a terrible agency. Repairs take forever. had ancient furniture. By the end of the tenancy the flat was left in great condition, even better than the state we got it in, and they had the audacity to cut a huge sum from my deposit regarding stuff out of my control, like cleaning windows externally, knowing Glasgow is a rainy city, and purposely delaying the post move out inspection, resulting in the delay of releasing of the deposit(what’s left) knowing that the flat got rented after my move out. Extremely unprofessional. Terrible experience

If you are a tenant of a DJ Alexander property be warned - they will demand an unjustified deduction from your deposit and hope that you will just give in to their demand rather than go through a protracted arbitration process. In my case the deduction they demanded contradicted the conclusions of their own end-of-tenancy review report, which they seemed to ignore. I went to arbitration and, as a result, received back two thirds of the disputed amount, confirming the unjustified demand of the agent/landlord. Don't think that being a good, conscientious tenant will protect you. Make sure you take lots of photos both at the beginning and end of your tenancy. DJ Alexander have an End of Tenancy Manager, based in their Edinburgh office, who was completely useless in managing the process in my case (my tenancy was in Glasgow but I had to deal with this lady in Edinburgh who knew nothing about the flat in question and I knew I couldn't rely on anything she said or wrote).

God awful company. On the day I went to collect the keys to my new flat, no one organised the key collection, so sat outside their office building for half a day with my rental van, waiting on staff appearing from a Friday meeting. Meanwhile the office staff played garden golf at reception. Distopian style agency, with rude staff and do not complete repairs as and when they should. Took 3 months to replace a busted fridge freezer and when they did, replaced it with a toy fridge with a much reduced capacity. The reply was to lump it. DO NOT RENT with this agency. As a renter, they will treat you with disrespect and malice.

Please be aware that DJ Alexander are corrupt and will always side with the landlord. We looked after our let and made an effort to deep clean, shampoo carpets, clean windows and leave our expensive tv at no cost for the next tenants as the one that was there was terrible and fell off the wall. All to be charged 50% of our deposit for cleaning. Don’t bother cleaning when you leave! Disgusting I have also heard they like to raise rent and say it was the landlords decision when they’re actually pocketing it so please be aware

These people will: turn up late or not all to viewings, ignore correspondence about flat issues, straight up lie to your face in terms of dealing with something in a timely manner (our agent promised us he would fix something by the next day, when we called the next day for an update turns out he'd just gone on annual leave!!), and then they will try and charge you for things like not cleaning the external aspect of the windows on a 5th floor flat when you try to get your deposit back. They have no souls. However, eventually I realised that if you need something, make sure you go to their office in person and just refuse to leave until something is sorted. I did at 4:30 on a Friday and refused to leave until there was a solution in place. They agreed pretty quick when they realised how long I was willing to delay their weekend for. They've also taken over Braemore letting agency who let people into my flat without telling me in advance, didn't lock the door behind them on a different viewing despite the fact we'd been burgled 6 months prior, and tried to blame us for a failed viewing when they couldn't get into the flat, despite having no evidence of communicating the viewing to us. When I left a review (which has been removed since the takeover), they tried to say they had no record of me as a tenant, which is either an attempt to avoid responsibility or evidence of their undoubtedly horrendous record keeping, take your pick 😂

Joke shop of Letting agency. Moved out of a property in July and didn't get our deposit back until September. The whole experience my partner and I had with DJ Alexander and Louis - who was supposed to be dealing with our moving out, was shocking. Firstly, they charge you for a reference which is absolutely disgusting, but as we're a young couple with that property being the first place we've rented we didn't have a choice, we needed the reference. They then told us the flat wasn't clean enough and would have to get cleaners in, which we already expected to happen from seeing past reviews, they have a tendency to try get more money out of you. There was no communication from Louis/DJ Alexander for 27 days despite several attempts from us to get in touch. When we asked for our invoice as we'd be looking to dispute certain charges, we were told they still didn't have it, a month on from our move out. When we finally did get it it was sent in an email with no attached invoice just what we were being told to pay. No company would ever adjust or send monetary amounts based on the words on an email - that is insane. It then took another few days to actually get our invoice which was actually dated 3 weeks prior and we were charged for the electric during the cleaning, when we no longer lived there. I think honestly they thought we're young and stupid and wouldn't question it, but when we found out and did question it, they had no idea and 'thanks for flagging that' as if you couldn't see it on the invoice, there were only 2 charges on the invoice? Had to laugh at how ridiculous that is. Overall, would never ever rent with this letting agency, we weren't even with them originally, our agency was taken over by DJ Alexander so wasn't something we willingly did. They just seem to want to get every penny they can out of you.

DJ Alexander were incompetent and unprofessional from the start. Went to view the property and letting agent left three of us waiting outside for ten minutes, before someone called and said the landlord was inside, why not greet the viewers at the door? Viewed the property and decided to go ahead, asked the agent to proceed with an application, the agent said he had sent an email with my application, I later realised he hadn't, I called to resolve this and was told to wait, waited until the next day and asked for another application, so had to chase this up.. filled it out within 20 minutes and was told in the next hour I had been successful. Then thr agent called me telling me the house was on a pro rata rate, meaning I had to pay two months upfront and the deposit, no mention of this on their advertisement or at the viewing! Highly unprofessional. Called and spoke to an agent regarding the situation, who apologised and said it was a mistake, that the rent was due on the 1st of each month but move in date was the 9th, I asked if I could move in on the 1st, so I didn't have to pay two months upfront.. to which the agent replied no it takes a week to draft up a lease and get the property cleaned and we are short staffed. It's no wonder the way the business is run, they can't keep staff. The date is the 20th of September then can't draft a lease and clean a property by the 1st ! It's as if they don't want anyone to move in. So they expect you to pay a full month's rent on the 9th and pay the rent for November on the 1st, plus the deposit and miss out on 9 days rent paid. What an absolute incompetent letting agent. Landlords using this letting agent will be very let down, losing good tenants to their laziness and untrained staff

It’s disappointing that to write this review I have had to give them a star at all! DJ Alexander have to be the worst letting agency in Scotland and their checkout team in particular, the most unprofessional and least competent by a country mile. Mine has been a disgraceful and genuinely shocking end of tenancy experience. I am (was) a landlord of a single properly. It has just been vacated and has been left in an appalling state by the tenants. Absolutely filthy with an appallingly neglected, overgrown & rubbish strewn private garden area, and a whole spectrum of damage to the interior fabric of the flat, including through unapproved installations by the tenant (some of which they’ve just left in place presumably to try and disguise the damage to plasterwork and tiling if removed). I can only assume that DJ Alexander’s property inspector didn’t actually attend the flat in person for the check out inspection and / or paid zero heed to the terms of the PRA and the schedule of condition in so doing. This team is quite genuinely dangerously incompetent, such is the level of complete oblivion with which they have approached their obligations at tenancy end. If you are a landlord be aware that this letting agency does nothing to actually earn their fees - they are unconcerned with ensuring that a tenant abides by the PRA terms and as for upholding the value in, and purpose of, forking out for a record of condition at tenancy outset - forget it. I did., but DJ Alexander haven’t actually bothered to measure the checkout condition of my fiat against it. As can be said about every aspect of my relationship with this shower, every penny paid to them has been money for absolutely nothing. Oh, and they’ll pass you all round the houses too when you phone, and refuse to give you access to your own keys too. Heaven forbid they should actually offer meaningful service. I cannot stress this enough - avoid, avoid, avoid this letting agent at all costs. Unhelpful, unprofessional and incompetent, they are nothing but a deeply unpleasant stain on the Scottish property sector.

Avoid them at all costs!! When you first apply they’re very helpful and nice but once you move in they ghost you they won’t help you!! My toilet wasn’t flushing properly from September 2023 and they didn’t fix it until April 2024 I was traveling when they fixed it and when I came back they left the bathroom in a disgusting way and when I contacted them asking who did this they said no entered the flat and that it’s my problem even tho they sent me an email that a contractor will be entering my flat while I was traveling!!! The washing machine was really old and broke on me while my clothes are inside it and they wouldn’t do anything I had to run after them 24/7 just for them to get my clothes out and I was left about 3-4 week without a washer/ dryer!!! When i moved in I was told the flat will be professionally cleaned but it wasn’t specifically the kitchen it was absolutely disgusting and when I asked them to send a cleaning company to clean it they refused and said it was cleaned but their was old rotten food in kitchen cupboards!! And after I moved out they completely ghosted me regarding my deposit after sending me an email that the cleaning I did wasn’t up to their standards but after I told them I hired a cleaning company that THEY RECOMMENDED TO ME and I payed 260£ to get cleaned to get my full deposit back they said ok we will recommend that the landlord returns the full deposit and I was ghosted after that for 3 weeks I started the deposit release process but they still didn’t respond even tho the flat was taken and occupied by the new tenants I had to call them while I was out of the country and run after them 24/7 just to get my money back they made everything 10000x more difficult and stressful they will try to get every £ they can get from you!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE THE WORST LETTING AGENCY I EVER WORKED WITH!!!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with DJ Alexander Estate Agents. On the second day after moving into the property, I raised several maintenance issues and complaints. Despite sending multiple emails and making numerous calls to their office, I received no response or resolution. It has now been almost two months, and there is still no sign of any action or communication from their side. This level of service is unacceptable, and I will certainly not be recommending DJ Alexander to any of my friends or family.

They asked me to leave the flat BY October and because I found flat on September, moved out and gave them back the key “before” the next rent date, they still asked me to pay October’s rent!?! Despite the fact that the day before I called them and asked, would it be a problem if I leave the flat now and give you the key before the next rent due so I will not have to pay the rent, the male said yes that’s okay, so I brought the key. Also they charged me for cleaning the flat about £150, despite the fact that I already spend 3 hours and cleaned the house before I moved out. I took a picture of after I cleaned the house, it was CLEAN! And they still charged me. They didn’t give me the house clean when I moved in by the way. They also charged me £80, because they found chips(!?) above radiator. I NEVER EAT CHIPS. They did not give me my Deposit either, I had difficulties to pay my new flats deposit! I will never understand what kind of people are they. Stay away from this company for your safety. I wanted to attach the flat pictures that I cleaned and still paid £150, but I don’t want them to have clean and good condition flat pictures under their name.

Would give them 0 stars if I could. AVOID renting with them , otherwise you will lose your deposit, this so called agency provides a mediocre and neglecting service. If there’s a problem in your flat they will ignore you for weeks, they will never repair it unless they are going to sell the property and you are out . Had me with NO heating for 2 weeks, flat was poorly insulated and reached -3 degrees in January. This company knew about it and did nothing. This D j Alexander just cares about money, they are useless and treat tenants like if they were worthless. Lived in a property with water damage and mould but they didn’t care, yet they aren’t giving me my full deposit back. Also, don’t even bother cleaning the property, I wasted my last 3 days cleaning the flat and leaving it spotless for them to try and charge me £188 for cleaning services.
