Cala employing trades who drink alcohol on site

Honestly who ever Cala employ to build/ plumb the property should never be called tradesman. I am a heating engineer and I had to fix my toilet that was running water. On removing the hidden cistern syphon I come to find a fosters can in the cistern. This was causing the issue. How can you employ people while drinking alcohol on site. How dangerous is this. I shall be reporting this. I have images to prove this.

Really appalling

Really appalling. The show homes look lovely but the quality and finish of our home was terrible. We had a list of hundreds of snags (including some quite substantial that require half the kitchen to be removed and reinstalled, flooring to be pulled up and relaid etc) and nearly a year later we're still waiting for them to be addressed. We've been passed round multiple different cala representatives, taken hours and hours off work showing each of them the snags (all of which they have agreed need addressing) because apparently they are incapable of taking notes or communicating with each other, then get fobbed off when it come go actually doing the work. In the latest installment of the sorry saga, we waited 4 months for them to 'order parts and book in contractors' so the snags could all be addressed in one go while we moved out with out 2 young children, only to find they hadn't ordered half the parts or booked in half the contractors, something that they only told us as we were just about to move back in, expecting everything to have been done. They also didn't book cleaners in for once they had finished as they had agreed to do, and have at no point apologised for their appalling customer service. We're now facing moving out yet again with our 2 small children at some point in the future in the hope they can actually get their act together and do the work. I really would strongly recommend against buying a cala home. Our experience has been so bad that we actually plan to sell ours and move elsewhere which is a shame as the area and our neighbours are lovely.

She is genuinely interested in your life and background so much so when I phoned her the first time she knew exactly who myself and my partner were and what plots we are interested in which left us so impressed considering how many customers will come in and out the door. She is so helpful with any questions you may have, and makes you feel very welcome. Sunnie's name truly reflects her bright and bubbly personality, and an absolute credit to Cala.

Excitement turned to Disappointment

I recently moved in to 4 bedroom detached Cala home. Having fallen for the show home we could not wait to get our hands on our new home. Having had three delayed dates we finally moved in. Sadly the rumours and reports we had heard of lots of issues with new builds were worse than we anticipated. The workmanship and quality of the build can only be described as very poor and in some cases looked as though someone on their first day on a building site had done certain jobs. it is very evident that this house and others on this development and adjacent to me have been rushed to get people into them. On the day of moving in my drive and pathway had not been tarmaced with the final finish. this was done two days before Christmas and the pathway is still not been done. Cala say all the right things but sadly do not deliver on a lot of them.I have ended up with a snag list containing 140 defects. this includes things like very boggy turf in the back garden, every socket and light switch has paint around them. half the door handles were defective and this was known about but they were still fitted. cracked kitchen cupboard units and doors, a tank in the emersion cupboard hanging off the wall, paint splashes on the stained wood handrail on the stairs, and many more issues. Six weeks in and I have started to get these defects sorted. I did have some issues resolved by the site manager within the first few days of moving in which I though ok this is good and was given a mini skip on my drive to get rid of rubbish but after a few days attention then switched to other new families moving in and it became more difficult to get things done quickly. I had my emersion heater left on prior to moving in. on moving in I was advised not to switch my emersion switch on at the top of my stairs. this switch turned out to be the loft light and I have had the real emersion switch switched on for a month which has doubled by electricity usage. This was reported to the sales team who messaged the site manager a week ago and I have still not seen the site manager having also tried to find him on site in his office.It is very clear that the workmanship of the various aspects of the build is in a lot of cases very poor and the treatment of the interior fittings such as doors, stair rails, door handles are very poorly stored and managed and the result is a a very substandard finish which looks nothing like the show home. Cala are putting profit before quality and no quality inspections can be being carried out prior to moving in so that these issues can be resolved before new tenants arrive. Get it right first time!! and you do not need to send someone in behind the builders with new occupants in place to rectify what are in most cases attention to detail issues. There seams little point Cala doing surveys asking questions like how satisfied were you with your new homes quality, then having scored them low, not learning from what you are being told. The whole point of a survey is to learn from your mistakes but having spoken to the builders doing the repairs they see the same issues time and time again day in day out so you are clearly not taking note of what your new occupiers are telling you.We were not advised of design changes to that of the show home such as you would not get a walk in wardrobe in the master bedroom, you would be a window short in your lounge and master bedroom. we were expected to see this on a building drawing.I can only hope that Cala take note and actually do something about this. Sadly the response comments I see on here look like standard responses that are most likely pre written in a lot of cases just to ensure a response has been done to meet a target. Cala should focus more on the build quality of their homes and deliver what they say and show in their brochures. you can only do this buy listening and doing something about the feedback you get.I would say that there has been some positive things that Cala have done due to the delays hense why I have given 3 stars but sadly the negatives outlay the positives. I would think twice before buying another new Cala home.

Shame on you Cala. Had a walk round the Barrett’s site beside Parklands Aberdeen and they are resurfacing roads etc as promised pity you couldn’t take a leaf out of their book.Don’t take their word for anything.

Bought an apartment in Parklands…

Bought an apartment in Parklands Aberdeen. Nothing but problems starting with internally to start with several leaks along with damaged flooring corian worktops all scratched along with numerous other things.Now we have the problems externally with brickwork visible through the render they never returned to carry out resealing of windows etc and now one of the balconies seems to be sloping. The tar on the roads and front paths are of poor quality again was assured it would all be redone once the site was finished. Parking spaces poorly laid and bin and bike sheds a joke. Don’t buy a Cala home certainly no aftercare.
