Shame on you Cala. Had a walk round the Barrett’s site beside Parklands Aberdeen and they are resurfacing roads etc as promised pity you couldn’t take a leaf out of their book.Don’t take their word for anything.

Bought an apartment in Parklands…

Bought an apartment in Parklands Aberdeen. Nothing but problems starting with internally to start with several leaks along with damaged flooring corian worktops all scratched along with numerous other things.Now we have the problems externally with brickwork visible through the render they never returned to carry out resealing of windows etc and now one of the balconies seems to be sloping. The tar on the roads and front paths are of poor quality again was assured it would all be redone once the site was finished. Parking spaces poorly laid and bin and bike sheds a joke. Don’t buy a Cala home certainly no aftercare.

Expensive, and poorly executed

Overall the house is generally ok however the lack of response and action is underwhelming. A major issue is the heating system in every home is unknown to daikin/Cala/homeowners/contractors so much so that we have to battle with constant heating loss, and with a baby in the house is an major issue. Personally we’ve had to just try everything to try and keep the heat going while some homes have had to borrow the neighbours space heaters so their kids can keep warm. We have snagging works that are still ongoing for 2 years (Covid has delayed, but the biggest job is external). Garden floods and needs drainage so now have a private tradesman booked and have asked Cala to sort the bill which as well is ongoing as they are saying “you shouldn’t have to pay out of pocket for this so let me look into it”. Also let’s just mention that there was no topsoil used in any property so the lawns/plants in the entire area are all suffering.While speaking to customer care management they reminded me that there are a few thousand people all up and down the country that have issues too. The tone was uncaring and I feel sorry for the stress they are going through, but complete works and to a high standard prior to starting more works. One job at a time instead of rushing to fill the sales.First and last Cala home going forward.The neighbourhood is on a group chat and we all (over 30 homes) have lists of snagging and issues that haven’t even been remotely sorted. The communal areas have been done with a slap job look, and although the natural view from upstairs is great the front field is a weed ridden mess surrounded by paths with no flow.Cala has started phase 2 and seems to be putting all efforts into that phase and has completely halted all works on phase 1 leaving everything now to the owners and the city.We as a group have contact the council and will continue to contact the proper authorities until works are done in compliance to the agreements that were set upon purchase.Now the upsides:Neighbours are all great people and we have a strong community in a very welcoming small town.Even though we have our issues with Cala we have had a space to get through Covid, and hopefully we will be able to stay in order for longer. This will be dependant on the service agreements being fulfilled.

Although we have not completed our Cala experience yet, the journey has been 95% positive. This is my 3rd new build and I must say the Cala experience blows all the competition out of the water.Little things that stand out from the crowd are not only will cala set up your gas & electricity like most companies, Cala have a arranged a broadband provider to be available and activated on the day you move in, well done Cala.

Issue with the house not fixed after 1 year of complaints

After we moved into our new CALA home 2 years ago, we planted several shrubs along our garden fence and many of them died. The lawn in our garden is also dying. We have been told the problem may be with drainage issues in the garden (which I can only assume CALA knew about when they sold us the house). We have been raising the issue with CALA since summer last year, and after 13 stressful months of complaining the problem has still not been resolved. This is frustrating and very distressing to our family, and is certainly not the way one would expect CALA (who advertise themselves as highly recommended) would treat their customers.P.S. To CALA - please avoid giving us the default response provided to all other comments below as we have already been writing/calling CALA for the past 13 months.

Cala homes promote themselves as a five star builder and in customer service, they have no care or consideration for their customers. Head of Customer service, wouldn’t know what good customer service is if it punched him in the face. No or poor communication with their customers with an attitude of ‘we have your money and no longer give a damn’. No one at this company takes responsibility or ownership of any issue and nothing is followed up to an acceptable solution. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CALA HOMES.
