The whole experience was far better than I expected, as a first time buyer I was nervous starting out, but you made the process so much easier. GoogleWe actually didn't even use Ashton's to sell out home but they were a part of our chain. Considering we didn't pay this company and they had no loyalty to us as their customer their service, professionalism and manners were beyond incredible. I delt with Gemma on multiple occasions and she supported us to such a high level that we would now only use Ashton's in the future and would recommend them to anyone.

Google6 months after our offer was accepted, our sale fell through. Significant legal issues with possessory title were identified which couldn't be resolved and the seller wasn't willing to negotiate. Ashtons are fully aware of the legal issues and have now relisted with no mention of them. I raised with three different colleagues that it was unfair to withhold this information. I feel sorry for future buyers.

GoogleI am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Ashtons Estate Agents. Communication has been poor throughout the entire process, and there have been significant delays in moving forward with the sale. Additionally, their valuations were incorrect and unrealistic, which affected the sale process. I feel my interests were not prioritized, and the lack of support has caused unnecessary stress. I would not recommend their services based on my experience. Edit- that’s not partner you just have 2 1 star reviews

Google**Disappointing Experience, Do Not Recommend** I would strongly advise against using this estate agent. From start to finish, the service was nothing short of frustrating and unprofessional. Firstly, the pricing process was incredibly unclear and misleading, almost intentionally so. We were promised a much higher sale price for our property, but in reality, we ended up with far less than expected. Worse still, the property sat on the market for a prolonged period due to poor pricing advice, ultimately costing us time and money. When we raised a complaint, we were met with complete indifference from the managing director. It took them a full month to respond, citing the bizarre excuse that they "thought they had already responded." If that doesn’t speak to the communication skills of those running this agency, I’m not sure what does. When they finally did get back to us, they failed to address a single point of our complaint or offer any meaningful explanation. This agency’s approach to pricing is deeply concerning. It only takes scrolling a little further down this review page to see they have commented on a different negative review to say they are “guilty as charged” when it comes to inflating prices. I shouldn’t have to state this, but openly admitting to this is not only unethical but directly contradicts their duty of care as estate agents. There are plenty of better, more transparent options in York, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this one. The last thing you need during this already exhausting process is an extra hurdle. EDIT: just to say the response is even more shocking and unprofessional from the managing director of this estate agent. Be warned, if you do experience any issues when using this estate agent, they will not take ownership for a single moment of it. In fact, they will share outright lies in responses to negative reviews (we absolutely have not sent an email with any praise on it), and use your OWN outreach against you when citing “points of contact”. We contacted YOU dozens of times to ask about lowering the price for a faster sale, to which we were repeatedly told there was no need as it was priced correctly. This caused a real terms loss of money and distress for multiple reasons of which I do not need to share here, but your company is well aware of. Shocking, appalling, sarcastic and deeply unprofessional. You’d think they’d want to make it right for the client who is paying them, wouldn’t you? Couldn’t even muster up an apology. Also, a point Ashtons seem to gloss over repeatedly is that we were contacted by Ashtons directly to coax us to switch estate agents because they were certain of the price they could get us. They now don’t want to take ownership for that action either. STAY AWAY. Truly horrifying experience, that just never seems to end.

Occasionally when dealing with many property transactions and many people mistakes are made, in those instances we hold our hands up and put it right, that is NOT the case in this instance. You came to us after another agent couldn't sell your property. We found you a buyer at a figure 6% less than our listing price in a very competitive market. I do not think that that is misleading, I and my colleagues have tried to explain to you many times, that the price we recommend to market your property at is an asking price, not a guaranteed value by your estate agent . As for communication, we were in contact with on average more than twice per week during this time. Apologies again if you didn't think was sufficient, in total your file had 326 points of contact during your time on the market which hopefully gives puts the amount of work carried out on your case into perspective. I have explained this in correspondence privately and have correspondence from you, in the last 3 weeks, praising the service that Jade, your personal contact, has given you through the process. We take our name and our reputation very seriously as we have worked very hard over the years to obtain our position as the leading estate agent in York and maintain our reputation as the best as what we do, hence my detailed response to you and Callum's, your partners, review (below). Thank you once again for your business and perhaps on refection you may well see the situation through a different light.

GoogleAbsolute pleasure from first viewing to completion! As a first time buyer I had a lot of questions, Rachel was extremely helpful and honest whenever we spoke. She organized multiple viewings, quick negotiations with the seller, and provided all information whenever needed. I would highly recommend Ashtons and Rachel for anyone around York looking to buy or sell. Thanks!

GoogleWe listed our house with Ashton's and accepted an offer which ultimately fell through after a protracted process. Each individual staff member we spoke to were nice and friendly on all occasions. However, we often felt communication was poor, and we regularly had to chase for any details or updates; we were left to feel like they were doing us a favor rather than providing a high-quality service. Subsequently, we have decided to relist our home with a different agency.
