Excellent Customer Service

We would like to extend our thanks to Tracey Tocker for her help during our recent visits to reserve our plot and agree upgrades etc. We had lots of questions regarding the location of the plot and the standard fixtures and fittings in the property. There was no question that Tracey couldn't answer- her knowledge of the site and the various properties is second to none. We made quite a few changes to our upgrades before final sign off, and Tracey was always patient with us, ensuring that we had all of the details we needed to help us make our final decision. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was happy to discuss our options, and obtain quotes for various tiles etc until we were happy with our choice. Tracey really helped make our visits enjoyable too with her friendly, approachable manner. Thankyou.

I have previously bought a new build home with a different developer and I have to say, the experience I’ve had so far with Ashberry Homes, has been completely different. Jo at Pirton Fields has explained everything really clearly but more than that, she genuinely cares about her customers and will go above and beyond. The site team are super helpful and friendly, but Jo has really made this experience a pleasure, when actually, buying a new home or moving can be quite stressful. Outstanding service.

Where to begin..

Where to begin... It turns out Becky at sales, remains the only positive and successful experience when dealing with Ashberry /Bellway. If you have any interest or care for your home, best advice I can offer is to avoid at all costs. Now i know this isn't the case for all new build homes and im sure it isn't limited to only this company but i have now seen firsthand why new builds get the reputation they have and it truly is abysmal. This is coming from someone who previously was a new build supporter, hence buying one. If this was any other purchase you make in life, an item, product or car etc it would have been returned without hesitation, the keys thrown back. However, being a property it doesn't apply and just like that... your trapped. For smaller issues, which there have been many and apparently never-ending. This is resolved without much fuss, to a just about satisfactory level. The first sign of something a bit more major, forget it. Good luck and hope for the best probably captures it about right. To the point where i have an open case in dispute with the builder and following the appropriate process had since raised this with NHBC. Only to find shorty after that the builder had actively been in contact with the 3rd party to 'advise' them how not proceed. I wonder... if only that effort and attention were put into resolving issues and quality control instead. To keep it brief there is not enough letters in the alphabet nor words in a dictionary to express my opinion efficiently. If I had to summarise in one word it would be disgusted. On the brochure, from the first line on the first page 'Homes built to exceptional standards' to the last line 'Aftercare you can reply on' miss sold is an understatement.

Where do I begin..it doesn't matter, they were brilliant from start to finish. Professional efficient and most of all caring. In particular I'd like to thank Chrissie at middlebeck Newark. She has been absolutely brilliant from the first time I spoke to her to the current time. An absolute Star. The entire team have restored my faith in the building industry. To go from reservation to completion in one month and one day is unbelievable. Something everyone involved in the process should be proud of. I cannot thank them enough. Impersonal Chaos

My wife and I are nine months in to the ownership of a four bedroom detached house built on the Broadleaf development in Ashby-De-La-Zouch.I'll start with the positive, it won't take long. The house design is good with the efficient use of space. There are no box rooms and our garden areas are also on the large size especially for a new build. Most other plots on the estate also have decent green space.OK, now for the rest which is (almost) all entirely bad.Exterior build. The exterior is actually not too bad and we like the bricks. We had remedial work completed but as a whole it is as expected. We had several issues with windows, fascia's, doors and fences. It will take too long to write up these problems but here are a couple. The fences were (and are) a joke. We side on to other properties due to plot position so have a number of shared boundaries, these buckle and bow with the appearance of the ocean waves. If you stare at the boundary for too long you actually start to feel sea sick. In the back garden the fence had been built in to the ground at varying levels with concrete boards buried in front of the said uneven fence. Yes IN FRONT, not underneath. When we pointed this out the week before completion we were offered a second fence to be built on top of those wonky concrete boards. In other words a fence within our own garden to cover the shared boundary. The alarm bells started to ring which as the months have gone by has turned in to full blown tinnitus. The other main issue was too much or practically no paint on any external wood whether that be door or fascia. The front door was some sort of Jackson Pollock tribute which has long since been replaced at our own cost. It wasn't a one off, all of our neighbours doors were exactly the same. Interior finish. I can only use the word atrocious. The plastering is terrible, after three resolution attempts it's another cost we will be picking up as it's steadily got worse. A contractor flooded our en-suite the week before 'move in' and tried to cover the tide marks with undercoat rather than stain block. From the same flood the en-suite door was heavily buckled, they left it on and glossed it. All of our spotlights fell out after three months, the electrician cut the holes too big and tried to cover their tracks by using mastic to glue them in! Floor tiles were laid inconsistently, door handles put on with too few screws, the heating was wired up incorrectly, exterior lights didn't work, radiators were leaking, look I could carry this on but you get the idea. A special mention goes to the shared and private driveways. We live in a cul-de-sac of five with shared access to private drives. The upkeep of these drives will be down to the residents all of which was explained in advance of the sale and is completely fine. What you need is the developer to make a great job of the surfacing so the residence can have a few years before the need to replace. Nope. What we got was an inappropriate product which was laid on a dirty surface and started cutting up on day two. I reported this immediately and what follows is too ridiculous and tedious to outline here, suffice to say it has finally been replaced but it is still a disaster zone. They broke our garden demarcation, chucked tar in to the lawn and I've raised another complaint to investigate the quality of the work as we are still not happy. The inconvenience is racking up.On site service. Appalling. We were promised the earth to get issues resolved in return for positive feedback on the eight week NHBC survey. At this point we were in our compromise rather than complain phase so we duly obliged. Had I known the outcome of the next few weeks I would have filled that survey in very differently. I believe there is another soon so won't be making that mistake again. The majority of our minor snags were resolved although all required another visit due to more mistakes. An example would be attaching the hot and cold water the wrong way round on a sink after sorting a drainage problem. Annoying and inconvenient but eventually sorted. Ashberry did provide some services in order to compensate for the imbalance in costs however even after taking that in to account we are heavily out of pocket due to all of the things we've resolved ourselves.We've had five site managers, two sales managers and a very corporate area guy who initially seemed helpful but is the opposite. Everyone blames everyone else. Then there's the chaos. We have a great path on the development. It was supposed to go into the National Forest but looks like permission wasn't sorted so people wander along it before they realise it's the road to nowhere. Very apt. We have a dog so speak to a number of other residents on our walks so know our experience is repeated. You feel like a nobody in a corporate blame game and it's tiresome.

The house that we have purchased

The house that we have purchased, is the three bedroomed detached Oatland, show house.The quality of the finish in all the rooms' is exceptional. My wife, and I have, looked at various new developments over the past few months',some good, some not so good, but 'Ashberry Homes', are in our opinion the best. Even the overall layout of the development has been given some serious thought. There is no really narrow roads, (that some developers use to cram more dwellings onto their sites.)
