Peter Alan - never again!

If you value your money and time do no do business with this estate agent. They didn't vet the landlord I ended up with and was put in an unsafe house following a YouTube viewing, their customer service team took a full 3 months to refund me following my immediate move due to health and safety concerns. You're better off going on gumtree and letting through them instead, do business with this agency at your own peril!

Used PA to let my property didn't want…

Used PA to let my property didn't want to do any viewings as said that as demand was high they could let it without I insisted as not quite sure what there fees are for otherwise. Also paid over £100 for the existing tenants checkout which was not done properly some areas were not photographed or reported on accurately. This document is now worthless.Complained and got an inaccurate response which I replied to and not heard back.

Shocking communication

Shocking communication from the Lettings department. They’re quick to let you know about rent increases, but won’t help you sort out any issues that make the property unfit for habitation. This is against the RentSmartWales guidelines and we will be taking this further as they clearly can’t follow specified guidance.

I would give no stars if I could

I would give no stars if I could! I completely agree with the bad reviews on here. I had Hayley from Peter Alan out to value my house and put on market. I explained I was going away for a week and could they call me Monday to see if we are going ahead. Whilst on holiday I received 4 maybe 5 phone calls from Ryan to ask if I was going ahead with them. I explained many times that I was away and he kept saying he wouldn’t call again, I then get a call from Hayley when I got back off holiday . I explained I didn’t want to put my house up with them as the communication had already broke down before my house even went on the market. I then put it up with HRT and they were brilliant. I then found a house I was interested in however it was advertised with Peter Alan. I called them and arranged a viewing. I then received 2 texts confirming the viewing within 3 hours of each other however ria then calls me to say they have received an offer for that house and I wouldn’t be allowed to view it. I asked if I was able to submit a higher offer but she said no. I thought you were able to offer a higher bid and that’s how people get more than the asking price. I feel they are short on the phone and very unprofessional. Avoid Peter Alan if you are selling your home or purchasing a new one.

Avoid if you really want to sell your house

Warning - you will regret choosing Peter Alan to sell your house. In summary:UnprofessionalHopelessLazyPoor communicationInexperienced staffUnable to negotiate or sellNot proactiveCertainly not worth the moneyPeter Alan, here’s some friendly advice.“You really need to get your act together, the days of sitting on your backsides all day and doing nothing for extortionate fees are over. In order to justify your fees against the rise of online agents, you need to offer a gold standard service. Based on my experience with you the only way is up as your utterly appalling service is rock bottom.”

Go elsewhere!

If you get a response you are very lucky! If you get a polite response you are privileged!Sales progression is poor to say the least. Constant chasing with little response provided, or when a response is received it is extremely rude! Messages left constantly! Would not recommend.

The worst letting experience ever!

The worst letting experience ever!! Asked Peter Alan to come out and value our property for letting. Sounds simple enough but they cocked up the time and date not once, not twice but THREE times in a row. This even after multiple phone calls and false promises and excuses from their branch managers Charlotte and Rees, who just blamed each othrr departments in super professional mannerPlease save yourself time and headache. They are just a bunch of incompetent, useless sorry excuses of estate agents. If they can't even record their appointments correctly or successfully turn up at the property to get themselves some business, imagine their level of incompetence

Moving in we had a couple of issues due to the cleaning of the home and grout etc, we had offered to do things ourself but they pushed to get it done themselves, couldn’t thank the head office more they really do their best!, they use a thing called tili which helps you move things like council tax, WiFi etc it’s amazing, wish I could give a better rating for this place it was much better than my previous estate agency!

Buyers and Vendors beware

No transparency and not at all forthcoming with information about offers, saying it’s illegal for them to give details (like amounts of other offers). Making claims that you can’t do something because of non-existent laws is not only misleading but it’s morally wrong. They haul you into the office so they can look through your finances and ‘validate’ your offer, and try to sell you a mortgage with a £599 fee attached. This is an absolute rip off, they claim that this means your mortgage advice is for life but they’re really just creating their own monopoly. They’re putting off vendors accepting people with independent mortgages so the vendor goes with the individual who has a mortgage through Peter Alan. Vendors also beware as this could cost you money in terms of turning down higher offers. Peter Alan are social justice cowboys. Now agents can’t legally charge extortionate letting fees, they’re finding other legitimate ways to con people. Eventually people will cotton on and this practice will hopefully be banned. Get a mortgage independently, keep them competitive so they can remain somewhat fair. Don’t buy into the fact that they need to ‘validate’ your offer, this is mortgage pressure selling tactic. They’re legally obliged to present all offers to the vendor (that’s ACTUAL law).

Beware of this immoral and parasitic company. Avoid at all costs.

No matter how much you clean and even if you left the property in a better condition that when you arrived they will charge you regardless. This is because since September 1st 2019 they are no longer given carte blanche to charge their immoral and unfair letting fees. They are now looking to extract money from their tenants in any way that they can. Me and my fiance have recently emigrated to Australia and before we left we spent a week tidying and emptying the property. After already paying over £1000 in fees for 6 months staying somewhere that costs £575 a month, the agency came back to us with £420 in charges for what amounted to "dusting, sweeping and wiping down surfaces", a job that their cleaner on £7.50 an hour would have completed in less than 30 minutes. If you can do anything to avoid this company I suggest you do so as their practices are absolutely appalling. You will not get your deposit back.

Awful company to have to deal with for a high price

I've lived in a private rented property that's managed by Peter Alan for 5 years and not once have I had an interaction with them I've been pleased with. Not calling you back when promised is their staple, and if they finally do, they're usually empty promises to call back a further time, usually without a quick resolution. They are so disorganised that clerical errors that you can forgive businesses for making infrequently, are basically standard. Names wrong on tenancy agreements, making generally poor choices on what contractors they use, repairs (of varying urgency) left unnoticed because the person that deals with them happens to be off (?), and 6-monthly inspections that actually happen more like once a year (which they expect you to wait in 9-5 for). On one occasion, when I'd changed a co-tenant, they accidentally marked the property as unoccupied. My landlord missed a month of rent that I'd paid Peter Alan, and all my utility companies sent me final bills. Council Tax shot up by £40 a month because they stopped collecting my Direct Debit, and couldn't reinstate in time for the next payment. Another particular gripe is that once a year, they send me an invite to renew my tenancy agreement, and it's worded in a way that says I MUST pay them a £100 renewal fee if I want to stay in the property. I have a friend that understands property law who told me that as long as the landlord agrees to a rolling contract, Peter Alan has no right to charge a fee because no new contract is needed. This isn't even mentioned in the small print on their email. This is a shifty move that makes me feel that lesser informed people are shelling out money for, just to fund a quality service they aren't getting. My landlord and I share the same opinion - we wouldn't go near them if we didn't have to, especially because both of us pay relatively-high fees for this type of service. Don't bother.

Could not imagine a worse experience

They have absoutely no regard for their tennants. No ownership over any problem, blaming the landlord for every issue when they could easily step in and do something about it given the extortionate rate of fees they charge. They mismanaged my move in to the extent that I was nearly made homeless, and I was given a list of excuses and no apology. No concessions were made despite my obvious problem with, and complaints about, what went wrong. Landlord's fault apparently. You manage the property, and you need to change your awful mindset about responsibility and the tone and attitude of your staff over the phone.Moving into the property we found several problems and were met with indifference. When a contractor did come to solve a minor issue, he was quite unprofessional. I was told on the phone by peter alan about other issues: "We arent legally obligated to fix it, so we won't". Great customer care.I am going to be a landlord myself soon and I would never associate with a company that treats tennants so poorly.

Still not had our bond Back had to…

Still not had our bond Back had to leave property due to mold and damp that had been reported 5 months before and was making our kids ill. Rats in garden and attic. All for landlord no support for us. We left property in better condition than had it in and tool pics yet they have told us that the house was dirty ect which is untrue. Not inventory done as they took over tenancy when landlord moved over to them. They also entered the property to take pics as its up for sale and didn't tell us moved items in the property and opend all blinds without my permission 6 weeks and still not bond Back they are the most horrific company around!!!!

Wasted my time and money.

This agent took us to view 2 houses, we were told that the first property was not for sale any more. We put an offer in for the full asking price for the second property. Literally just before we were due to complete the sale and after paying for searches and other fees they said the same thing we were told when we viewed the first property - no longer for sale, we weren't given a reason or an apology for wasting our time and money. Terrible agent.
