When completing the Valuation for me I found Coatlers and Jemma Butterwroth extremely professional and helpful, Jemma explained the whole process in detail and we agreed a fee that I found very reasonable with the commitment and marketing Coalters were promising to give to sell the house quickly and efficiently. My situation was difficult and emotional due to the circumstances of the sale but Jemma was great, she listened and helped whilst remaining impartial at all times. I would definitely use Coalters again. Thank you Jemma for all you help.

We recently sold a buy to let property through Coalters and although initially appearing expensive, overall, I do think it was worth paying a bit more! Coalters worked miracles with the photos for the sale brochure and really showed the property off to its best. The property was on the market less than a day and we had viewings and offers coming in and after only a week on the market, a sale had been agreed. Communication in general was good and I cannot fault Gemma Bolton, who completely understood my needs and was not at all phased by my demands! As a Landlord living 3 hours away from the property, the service that Coalters were able to provide was exactly what I needed. Viewings were all taken care of, keys were looked after and I wasn't hassled with trivialities. The only reason that I have given 4 instead of 5 stars is that I had a slight issue with the initial valuation but after stubbornly setting my own price, I achieved significantly more than I would have done, had I accepted their initial valuation.

My partner and I have just finished our search for a house and are glad to say it is with Coalters. Throughout the last two weeks we have been continuously been let down by other York estate agents, which has been particularly painful as I had flown over from Ireland on a couple of occasions for viewings. However Coalters, and Laura especially, have been so helpful on all occasions in finding us similar properties on the day and ensuring our trip to York was not wasted. Every member of staff we have met to date could not have been more personable or helpful, and each seemed to genuinely want to ensure we got exactly what we were looking for. We are now looking forward to moving into our new house with the most helpful estate agents we have used to date.

Linley and Simpson, York were brilliant at finding the perfect property to suit my needs. Once I had paid the bond and moved in, however, they were useless. I would report problems and be told they would get someone to look at it yet nothing would be done and they were annoyed when I called an out of hours electrician as my smoke detector had caught fire whilst I was out at work. The final straw was not bothering to contact me regarding viewings for new tenants once I had handed in my notice.

Linley & Simpson was the best choice I could have made for moving. Jo and Rosie were absolutely fabulous- answering every single question I fired at them (and believe me there were a lot!!) They were prompt and polite with their emails and kept me informed every step of the way. I will definitely be using them again for future moves. Ignore any negative reviews you see- the York team are outstanding in customer service and I was more than impressed!

From a tenants point of view, they were awful. And this is from a person who has dealt with Adam Bennett. Two house viewings we had were cancelled twice because they were unable to get the keys to the property, and they didn't inform us of this so we turned up to the viewing to find no one there. When I phoned the office to ask what was going on, the woman wasn't the least bit apologetic and seemed to make out that it was my fault for not checking my emails, when nothing had been sent to me. When we finally did get a viewing, the person showing us round knew nothing about it and just seemed to make up stuff on the spot. When we finally found a property we did like and our application was accepted, we gave them the details for payment for the holding deposit. We were then told the Landlord wanted another viewing to happen at the property even though our application had been accepted. Later on that day we were told the Landlord preferred the other tenants and our application was rejected despite it having been accepted the previous day. Clearly the landlords Coalter's choose to do business with are not the best or most reliable. Coalters are one of the most expensive estate agents in York in terms of fees, so you think they'd provide a good service for what they charge. But believe me they don't. Thank god we realised how awful they were before we exchanged any money. If I could give these estate agents less than 1 star, I would. Do not let a property with Coalters.

I boldly accepted my mission and stepped forward into the confusing world of the first time buyer. Armed with my deposit and a big bag of Maltesers, I sat down to write a long list of requirements for my first property; later discovering that few homes actually have a ‘shoe room’! This was the fun bit. This was the bit that raised hopes of visits to Ikea, house warming parties and the realisation that living on my own meant a whole fridge just for me!! Then the panic set in. How do I make an offer? How do I get a mortgage? How do I appoint a solicitor? How long does it all take? How much is council tax? How do I get red wine stains out of the carpet?! Luckily for me, my dream flat was being sold by Coalters, estate agents in shining armour! They expertly guided me through the process. Always professional, helpful and able to answer all of my questions (well, apart from the red wine one!). What initially promised to be a nail-bitingly traumatic process quickly turned into an exciting and problem-free journey to buying my first ever home. Coalters kept me up-to-date every step of the way and everyone in the office was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would have every confidence in recommending Coalters to others.

We have been using Coalters as our letting agent for the past three years now, and I have to say they are expensive but in my opinion worth it. They have always managed to find new tenants quickly, when needed and ensure our property is well looked after by those living there.
