Many thanks to Ashtons for finding a buyer for my property, and helping me to find a property to buy: Being severely visually impaired it was very hard for me to view a property, but Jack Griffin was extremely kind and took me to several viewings. He was really good at guiding and telling me where steps were, and describing the property features and drawbacks. He also learned the problems and difficulties people with sight loss have. He found me a property, that when decorated and updated, will be a lovely place for me to live. I would recommend Ashtons to my friends, especially those with sight loss. Thank you. Patricia

**Disappointing Experience, Do Not Recommend** I would strongly advise against using this estate agent. From start to finish, the service was nothing short of frustrating and unprofessional. Firstly, the pricing process was incredibly unclear and misleading, almost intentionally so. We were promised a much higher sale price for our property, but in reality, we ended up with far less than expected. Worse still, the property sat on the market for a prolonged period due to poor pricing advice, ultimately costing us time and money. When we raised a complaint, we were met with complete indifference from the managing director. It took them a full month to respond, citing the bizarre excuse that they "thought they had already responded." If that doesn’t speak to the communication skills of those running this agency, I’m not sure what does. When they finally did get back to us, they failed to address a single point of our complaint or offer any meaningful explanation. This agency’s approach to pricing is deeply concerning. It only takes scrolling a little further down this review page to see they have commented on a different negative review to say they are “guilty as charged” when it comes to inflating prices. I shouldn’t have to state this, but openly admitting to this is not only unethical but directly contradicts their duty of care as estate agents. There are plenty of better, more transparent options in York, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this one. The last thing you need during this already exhausting process is an extra hurdle. EDIT: just to say the response is even more shocking and unprofessional from the managing director of this estate agent. Be warned, if you do experience any issues when using this estate agent, they will not take ownership for a single moment of it. In fact, they will share outright lies in responses to negative reviews (we absolutely have not sent an email with any praise on it), and use your OWN outreach against you when citing “points of contact”. We contacted YOU dozens of times to ask about lowering the price for a faster sale, to which we were repeatedly told there was no need as it was priced correctly. This caused a real terms loss of money and distress for multiple reasons of which I do not need to share here, but your company is well aware of. Shocking, appalling, sarcastic and deeply unprofessional. You’d think they’d want to make it right for the client who is paying them, wouldn’t you? Couldn’t even muster up an apology. Also, a point Ashtons seem to gloss over repeatedly is that we were contacted by Ashtons directly to coax us to switch estate agents because they were certain of the price they could get us. They now don’t want to take ownership for that action either. STAY AWAY. Truly horrifying experience, that just never seems to end.

Rob did the valuation and then handled the sale, keeping me updated through out. I found the whole process as stress free as selling a property can be. We recently sold our house in York, through Ashtons, and purchased a flat in Harrogate. There were all sorts of ups and downs (with unscrupulous buyers) but throughout the whole lengthy process Ashtons staff were just incredible. Everyone we dealt with from Kennedy on the evaluation (and more), Andrew on the photographs to Jade on the sale were professional, honest and extraordinarily efficient. While all staff were excellent, we want to make a particular case of thanking Jade Sainty. She helped us with the sale, with advice on what to do when things went wrong, was always at the end of the phone to answer questions. Jade’s help went beyond the sale to support and advice in our purchase too. Moving house was, as everyone always says, very stressful but the myth of difficult estate agents was proven so wrong. We would recommend Ashtons to anyone who is thinking of selling. It's no exaggeration to say the experience was faultless. Hannah and the whole team at Ashtons worked hard over a very long & difficult period of time to sell our house at a fair price (twice!) and also manage a long chain to prevent it from collapsing. Hannah was always contactable and we felt we were kept updated. We’d recommend Ashtons, through working hard to reach out to the various parties in the chain, they definitely made the difference between us moving or the whole thing falling apart!

We have just spent a year searching for a property in the city we know very, very well. York. Ashtons were so helpful that they 'knocked the spots off' every other agent in York. They were ever mindful of our specific requirements, (walking distance to a high street, no traffic noise, private sunny rear garden, off road parking were all deal breakers) and kept us informed of all new arrivals. When they contacted us they were professional, respectful and succinct. We are so pleased that the house we fell in love with was on their books. They were also able to put us in touch with a local solicitor who could complete the entire purchasing process in 17 days - yes 17 days between offer and completion!!! This is our 14th house and if we ever sell again it will be through Ashtons. A big thanks to Annalise and Adam.
