Don’t want to know.

Quick to take your money but once that handover is done they don’t want to know you, paid for them to lay my grass, the drainage isn’t working properly so now 80% of the grass is dead and just mud, they’ve closed the case on the portal without my signature, people will say they’re cheap house but they’re not but they are built cheap.

Awful. AVOID!

Awful.. Since moving in anyway.. Before we moved in everything was spot on, constant updates, being invited to look at progress, any questions answered no problem.. 2 years later its been a constant chase to get anything done! Excuse after excuse to not replace manky cupboards where water had leaked due to taps not being fitted properly, the bath wasn’t sealed properly so the bathroom skirting boards & flooring is a mess! Unfortunately we live in a house on one of those awful stone turning circles which is bald & builders throw their mess onto, again not their problem as apparently was all up to standard. The road in the street is a complete mess, all houses have been finished a year at least now & still ongoing issues with drainage & contractors dropping out of doing the job! This (thank god) is just our starter house to get us onto the ladder which we were hoping to stay in for around 5 years.. we’re 2 years in & can’t wait to move! Shocking customer service & they don’t give a loss what mess they cause & leave you to deal with once you’re in the house!AVOID

Gleeson at canal walk

Gleeson at canal walk, Hapton have lied from day one. We have approved for a mortgage and signed up to the NHS priority program and had no information at all. Constantly having to contact them and being told we will phone you back and then no further contact. Excuse after excuse, if you can't provide quality customer care then do something about it. Makes you doubt the quality of the building structure if they can't even manage that. Get organised! The house we have waited on all year was given to someone else when we was supposed to get NHS priority, no contact yet again. If this is the way you treat customers I dread to think what would happen if something was wrong with the house and we needed you to resolve it. 10 year warranty my a...

If I could give gleeson 0 stars I…

If I could give gleeson 0 stars I would. My daughter signed for a house at Ransom Court in Nottingham in April 2019.She was told it would be ready to move into in August, then September, then November, you get the idea! She eventually got the keys in February 2020, this was after her and her partner had been living with me for 5 months as they had given up a flat as gleeson had said the house would be ready.Needless to say the house has had loads of snagging issues including faulty guttering which had to be fully taken off and put back on, external doors that won't open or close, holes in plaster board that have just been patched over when being promised they would be full replaced, the toilet wast bubbling up in the bath, the bath moving away from the wall and the sink also coming away from the wall. I could go on, but you would get board of reading. Moving onto lockdown, obviously building had to stop on the development which meant the house next door couldn't have their garage built, the garage boarders onto my daughters garden, wire fencing was left on her garden/her land for 7 months, and she was promised that once they had finished building the garage then the fencing would come down and her garden would be levelled and top soil put on.This has obviously not happened but the new houses gleeson ar still building have had all their gardens sorted. If anyone knows how to escalate a complaint through gleeson where they are actually listened too and actions taken then pleas could you share or just DONT get a house through gleeson

Been in my house a few month now in…

Been in my house a few month now in Ashington. Have to say I have had nothing but a superb experience from the beginning. My purchase was delayed by covid but I wasn't bothered and allowed me to complete late summer which was better with lighter nights. All the staff seem to have changed but they have all been superb, and the aftercare so far has also been surprisingly good. I recieved a welcome hamper at the start and even got a call direct from the director in the main office to ensure I was happy! A few faults but when I complained about them they were dealt with in good time, and they have also never stopped building more houses with covid, which is a good sign. The site is kept as clean as it can for a building site.I don't understand why the reviews are so bad unless it's completely different company to the one I have dealt with.Best of all the same house design which I bought is now on sale £4000 more than what i paid so my house will hopefully keep going up in price! All i can say is well done gleeson and thank you, and please don't be put off by the bad reviews. I can honestly say all the neighbours I have spoken to have the same opinion as me

No such think at customer care support

I’ve lived in my Gleeson cork home now for 8 weeks and believe I have given it enough time to provide an honest review. If I did this prior to moving it would of been 5 stars, I couldn’t fault the sales and customer service I received prior to moving in, I felt cared for and supported every step of the way and literally from moving in, ditched. The issues I’ve faced over the last week have been far from small snags, I’ve had blocked toilets, a bath which was left with water in for two days before I kicked off such a stink on social media that it was then fixed. My kitchen still isn’t finished, my driveway and path isn’t completed, and I’ve been left with a hole in my living room wall for the last month. I have lumps of concrete under my carpets... The worst part is the lack of care and support, you’re either ignored or really have to shout and complain before you get a response where Gleeson just blame someone else. I hate confrontation but felt like I’ve been pushed into no other option, my new home experience has been totally ruined and i now feel unhappy and trapped in an unfinished home. My neighbours moved in at the same time as me and we’ve all had a similar experience and not one of us have had a positive experience. I’m just grateful I have lovely neighbours because there really isn’t much else positive to say.You life and learn, you get what you pay for.

AVOID GLEESON

Had our demo a week before receiving the keys for our new house, found a few snags and touch ups to be done which gleeson had a week to get right before we received the keys a week later. After receiving the keys a week later we found there was snags that hadnt been done and the cleaners had not been to tidy the mess. I explained we was having carpet put down the next day at 10am so lumps of cement would need scraping off the kitchen floor (one of the snags on demo) otherwise we would be able to feel it through cushion floor and the house still needs cleaning.I was told to leave a key and the cleaners would be there at 8am to clean and the floor would be scraped. I went to the house the next day at 10am to find nothing had been done. NOT HAPPYThe road to the house is clearly not finished and raised up way too much which has caused damage to both of our cars due to the front bumpers scraping on a slope in the road, We reported this and the response we got was "just be careful for now" I think this is disgusting and they shouldnt be moving people in if the road is not suitable for cars to be driving on. There are drains and man holes raised excessively due to the roads not been finished which is a major tripping hazard,Its been a week since receiving the keys and still the road and some snags from the demo have not been done (2 weeks after demo) and now i have to pay for both of the cars bodywork to be done👍🏻Customer care at gleeson is a joke

Shockingly Bad Customer Service - Avoid

I bought a house on the Hilltop Park development and although there were small problems the purchase went quite smoothly. The problems started when we had completed and moved in! Defects reported were never resolved and didn’t even have a response or follow up, formally complained but again with no outcome at all! 8 weeks after completing our purchase the house still isn’t right. The contractors on the site treat our land like a building site parking construction equipment on my drive!Shockingly bad customer service with non existent follow ups. Use another developer and avoid Gleeson!

Awful company... give a wide birth!!

We bought a house with Gleeson's sometime ago. The house itself so 'ok' for a low end builder. We later found it had been fitted with an obsolete central heating system which meant finding replacement parts were difficult. Also when later having a electrical safety check I found the smoke alarms were 5 years old when fitted. The roads around the estate were never finished and were taken on by the local authority years later. What ever you do do not take a equity deal with this builder, they will be aggressive, obnoxious and make false promises. They use the word 'customer care', which is a complete joke, they do not care and quite the opposite in fact seem to enjoy your anguish. They are a cheap builder and do a reasonable job of the building work itself. I had no issue with the sales staff or the trades men, just the suits. We have since moved on and bought with another builder, completely different experience. Please think twice and save yourself some heart ache before buying with Gleeson.

So relieved we didn’t buy with Gleeson

So relieved we didn’t buy with Gleeson! Feb 2019 we were really interested in a particular house at Ransom court. The sales rep was very encouraging however couldn’t tell us how much the house would be, despite them having sold a couple of the same type already. We knew previous prices but apparently it’s normal for the prices to go up as they build?! Why advertise at the lowest price then?We were told we couldn’t reserve early, had to wait till the house was released then come down in person and reserve. First come first served. The house we liked would be up for reserving May/June 2019, they promised us. We kept revisiting their website, watching like a hawk to see when it would be released. In the meantime, learning about all the ‘extras’ that you have to pay for. Stupid things like if you want grass in your garden, if you want a fence between you and your neighbour, if you want flooring, if you want a shower fitted to the wall, all extra costs! And the covenants are ridiculous. You own the house, it’s freehold yet you still pay monthly fees, you can’t change the colour of your own front door, you can’t do anything to your own front garden, you can’t have a shed in your back garden of certain sizes, you can’t breed your pets. A nice little dictatorship. We visited the site regularly to see progress and came across a lady exiting her house (same type we liked) and spoke to her. She showed us around her home, spoke of how disappointed and duped she felt.Spoke to another man who mentioned burst pipes, cracked this and broken that all within his first 2weeks of moving in. Anyway, the house took forever to be ‘released’ (they’ll promise every day for months that it’ll be next week). In that time we found another, non new build, put an offer in, it was accepted and we moved in. This house is amazing, same price as what that Gleeson house ended up being but we have an extra bedroom, extra reception room, and garden at least 5x the size. It’s Sept 2020 and we drove by Ransom court, that house we had our eye on still is nowhere near complete. The ‘roads’ and paths in that development are basically a building site, potholed dusty uneven ground even in ‘finished’ parts. (Some houses don’t even have paths infront which aren’t wheelchair/buggy friendly). We’d still be waiting to move in had we listened to their empty promises yet here we are, a year into our amazing, non Gleeson home.

Poor workmanship and no help offered

Just purchased a 2.5 year old Gleason home after a cpl of months in the house the main water inlet feed came loose and flooded the kitchen floor asked Gleason for some help as it was down to poor workmanship to be told I’m on my own as out of 2 yr warranty and to get a plumber and pay myself which I have had to do and he confirmed issue was down to main pipe being cut to short and therefore pressure working it loose absolutely no help at all from this terrible company avoid avoid avoid

Bad burglar alarm

We paid £700 for an burglar alarm in our Gleeson home. We had problems turning it off after a power failure and the site manager couldnt help. We had a new box fitted which proved the original was defective. After another power failure the internal alarm bleeped every minute, all night, with no way of silencing it. I'm now going to kill the system. I'm going to look for a decent system, as the infrastructure is already there that should be easy to install.

Gleeson homes have no respect or concern for residents

The houses are OK but they have no respect for the people who live on their estates. They store all their building materials on the grass in the centre of our development blocking views of roads for traffic going past. There have been multiple near misses due to this. I've warned the site managers several times, they don't care. The roads are covered in mud, my car keeps getting covered with dust which I then have to pay to get cleaned. A few weeks ago I got a new car, straight out of the showroom, parked it on my driveway and the next day it was covered in mud and dust. I asked Gleeson to pay for it to be cleaned and they just ignored me.I was threatened with legal action for parking my Landrover almost out of sight on the grass beside my house. I replied that parking my Landrover on the road would be dangerous because my house is on a bend and my driveway only had space for one vehicle. Another threat of legal action so I put it on the road. In less than 2 months it was written off when another neighbour skidded on a patch of ice (CREATED BY POOR DRAINAGE courtesy of Gleeson) and smashed into it.Once a house is sold they don't care about the occupants.

Great value, great service

I absolutely love my house which was extremely good value for money. I’m not saying it’s first class, but the quality is good for the money. You can’t buy a Ferrari for 10 grand so dont expect a luxury mansion for 140 grand. The gleeson staff are all very helpful and couldn’t do enough for me. No issues throughout the whole process, and even the defects I found got dealt with swiftly. As others have said, don’t listen to the negative rubbish on here, I can’t recommend gleeson enough

I love my Gleeson home!

after reading through a lot the reviews on here, I feel like I’ve been dealing with a different company! I have recently moved into my house on Linkswood Park and I’m incredibly happy. the site team on my development are absolutely brilliant, they are all so helpful and genuinely care. they are willing to do anything they can to keep you happy in your new home. the only issue I’ve really had is that before completion, at times the communication with the sales office wasn’t the best, however that’s baring in mind we were in the middle of a global pandemic. as someone else has said, please go onto Instagram and have a look at how many people are happy in their beautiful Gleeson homes, you won’t be disappointed!

Just appalling. AVOID.

Appalling Customer Service. Infact, I don't think "Customer Service" is a term that exists at Gleeson Homes. We were buying a property on the Model Walk site in Creswell and they delayed the completion date by six months, just days after pushing us to get our mortgage arranged and our extras paid for. We sent an email to head office asking for an explanation and reassurance, as the sales office staff "couldn't tell us" what was happening and then our solicitor called and said that Gleeson cancelled the sale.I drove to the head office in Sheffield and calmly asked what was happening and the lady on reception said they have a policy where they will not speak to you in person, I would have to write. After a stressful week and many trips to the sales office, where the sales lady broke down in tears and said she isn't allowed to talk to us as "the head man" has said the sale has been cancelled, we received a letter with no apology saying "We aren't going to meet your expectations" and it's best that we cancel the sale. Nobody would explain why. All we did was ask a question, wanting information about our reserved property - which forms part of the Consumer Code for Builders. Gleeson simply do not care.We waited and saved a bigger deposit and purchased a home with a different builder, best thing we did. Just look at the other reviews.

I wish I had never ever purchased a…

I wish I had never ever purchased a house from Gleeson! The driveway is made from aggregate which is not even. As our plot has a shared driveway with a number of houses the drive has caved in where vehicles have been driving on and off. As the ground is uneven my partner fell over causing an injury. I brought this to Gleesons attention - this not being the first time. I explained the entrance into our driveway should be concrete so it’s even and safe for us to get our bins in and out without falling over and causing injury. They said there is nothing they can do - shock! I’ve only been in my house for 12 months and already want to move!
