Excellent experience with Gascoigne…

Excellent experience with Gascoigne Halman who sold our house for us. Highly efficient, communicative and very helpful advice all the way through. I met Markus Jolleys initially for the valuation who took care and time in forming his opinion and explaining the valuation, market, strategy and overall process. I subsequently dealt mostly with James Coppock in the Wilmslow office who was extremely helpful, always available and very responsive, conscientiously tracking progress of all parties throughout the sale process to ensure everything stayed on course for completion. I highly recommend Gascoigne Halman, Markus and James on the basis of my experience.

COMPANY LIE TO GET MONEY FROM YOU

Told the woman named Susan that I would be a student working in my holidays off uni whilst getting a mortgage. Been lead on to sign a lifetime fee of 600 pound to use there advice for the next 6 month for unlimited advice. Now being told she didn't know I was a student when I have clear evidence on my side I told her. Lawsuit imenent. This firm will lie to get money Out of you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, GO EPSEWHERE.

Best estate agents in Poynton!

Everyone tells you how stressful house moving is but for me Gascoigns in Poynton completely took control of then situation for me and totally took the stress out for me! I can’t recommend them highly enough! I’ve bought and sold with lots of different agents over the years and Gascoigns in Poynton are the only agents I’d recommend on and use again. My house move journey has by no means been straight forward either but Jo Owen Nicole and Alison completely took control of the situation for me and even supported me with my onward purchase through a different agent. Jo even contacted me on her days off to support me through the process so it’s no surprise she’s created such a winning team!

Awful service from Gascoigne Halman in…

Awful service from Gascoigne Halman in Poynton. We were buying a house through them, and were significantly misled over the severity of a flooding incident. We were sent photos that deliberately downplayed the incident, and were also told incorrect information over the phone about which rooms flooded.We were so concerned about the incident and that we did our own research into the local area to find out how bad it was on other roads nearby. We then recieved a phone call from Joanne, the Poynton branch manager, having a go at us for doing our own research, and claiming we should just trust what them and the sellers were telling us. She accused us of questioning their characters. It was highly unprofessional and insulting.When we advised Gascoigne Halman that due to this we couldn't proceed with the purchase, they never even acknowledged the fact, or any of the correspondence we had had. Just never heard from them again. Awful service.

Rental property- flea infestation

I would be very wary of letting these guys manage the rental of anything! Purchased a property via gascoigne and Halman, that has previously been tenanted (managed by gascoigne and halman), and it’s been a horrible experience. When we viewed the property it was filthy, so offered full asking on the agreement it be professionally cleaned. When we moved in, not only was it still dirty but we quickly discovered it had a serious flea infestation! When I flagged the flea issue to the chapel offIce they were helpful and did try to arrange pest control, but it was ineffective and 8 weeks on we still Have issues- the pest control guy thought the issue must have been untreated for many many months as the infestation was so bad! I don’t know what kind of checks they do on tenants, or how regularly they inspect their properties, but allowing a lovely new house to become absolutely infested under their management absolutely amazes me. Be very wary if you are considering them as rental agents.

Used Gascoigne Halman Lettings to manage my property - biggest mistake. Took commission every month but did nothing to earn it. Ignored my emails when I reported concerns following an inspection visit report and allowed tenant to damage property which resulted in problems trying to claim money from deposit and eventually left me considerably out of pocket. Didn't know where one set of keys were when I went to collect them! Didn't have the grace to admit their mistakes and apologize. Would certainly NOT recommend!!

Not too bad if you are buying a house but do not put your house on for sale with these guys. They might have a low fee but there’s a reason; they don’t actually do anything remotely pro-active. They are a Call Centre and that is all, no active “salesmanship” and they couldn’t care less about you as an individual. They spend more time trying to catch people out than actually selling the property, are extremely rude and very very outdated in their practices. It’s no wonder online agents are doing so well!! Avoid at all costs and go elsewhere, pay a little more. If you want to stay with the traditional local agent, there are some new kids on the block in Knutsford and our house sold in less than 10 days after we changed agents after 3 painful months with Gascoigne Halman. Time for shake up on these old boys.

Cash Buyer with no cash!

We put our house on the market in July 2018 with G&H, Wilmslow. We sold it within 3 weeks to the ideal buyer: a cash buyer living in rented accomodation in the same village. So the house was marked sold and we had no further viewers.Things then went very slowly; we thought the purchaser's solicitor was awful at his job. However by October we were still no closer to exchanging contracts and finally discovered that our ideal cash buyer in fact DID NOT HAVE THE FUNDS to purchase. So we wasted a perfect summer for selling a house and did not manage to find another buyer (through another Estate Agent) until Jan 2019.As far as I'm concerned this is entirely G&H's fault; they should have made sure that the cash buyer did indeed have the funds and got written proof. Otherwise what am I paying them for?My advice to anyone else selling a house is if you are told they are a cash buyer, make absolutely certain that they have the money and get written proof.

The worst letting agents that I have ever had the misfortune to rent through. Moved into a 2 bed flat to find that the bath was sinking into the floor, the main heating in the lounge wasn't working, the sink blocked, the burglar alarm not working and leaks under the sink. Not to mention a knackered fridge. The workmen used when they came round were terrible. All my shopping lost when they replaced the fridge and flat left in a mess by other workmen. They never reimbursed me for my shopping goods either. Avoid these agents at all costs

Absolutely poor service from top to bottom. I rented from them and when I left. they put a claim on my deposit even after the checkout inventory did not highlighted any issues. It took them almost a month to make up their mind on what claims to put through DPS. I got all my deposit back after my case was referred to ADR almost 3 months after my tenancy ended. I am thinking this kind of practice would put a lot of strain on family’s who’s deposit they claim upon and surely anyone in need of money would give in to greedy agents making false claims. I rented from many agent never faced any problem like this. I can surely say with regards Gascoigne and Halman. Don’t rent from them and if you do make sure checkin inventory is thoroughly checked and do necessary amendment within 7 days ( Gascogne Halman says amendments should reach them within 48hrs). And lastly Msg for Rebecca where is duty of care towards your tenants and looking after their interests, tenants are your customers and if they don’t rent from you, your wage will not be paid, unless you have get commission or bonus to successfully claim from deposits.

I booked a viewing for a property the day before for 9.30am. I was told I'd be contacted to confirm this booking. I arrived for 9.30am and did not see the agent. I then had to call the company to find out that the letting agent did not want a 6 month tenancy. This was at 9.32am I should not have to contact the company to find this out! I should have been contacted the day before!
