We understand this situation has been upsetting for your family, and we are genuinely sorry it unfolded in this way. There was an administrative error regarding the eviction date, which we fully acknowledged at the time. Compensation was agreed with your daughter to reflect this mistake, and we regret the distress it caused. However, it is important to note that the property was subject to a legal possession order, granted by the courts due to persistent non-payment of rent. At Lease For Life, we work hard to support single parents, families, and vulnerable individuals, many of whom are facing incredibly difficult circumstances. We understand how deeply frustrating it can be when someone’s Universal Credit is capped or suspended, leaving them unable to pay their rent. In your daughter’s case, we acknowledge that the circumstances were especially traumatic, and we sincerely wish the outcome could have been different. That said, housing providers must still act in line with legal processes. When rent is not paid and no alternative resolution is reached, possession becomes unavoidable. It’s never a decision we take lightly. It's also difficult to fully respond to a complaint such as this, as much of the information that supports the work we do is sensitive and protected under GDPR. However, if those involved were open to us sharing more context, we would be in a better position to provide a fuller and more transparent response. Thank you for your supportive words. Absolute correct, those on low to medium income really struggle to pass traditional referencing. To clarify, a tenant needs 2.5 the income veuse the rental, and so to rent for a 2-bedroom in London at £1585 PCM, the Proposed tenant needs to earn a minimum of £47,550 PA. So yes, we need support for these hardworking families. Thank you so much for bringing this up.
