Poor aftercare service…

If there was a 0 I would have rated it so. I bought my property in Deepcut Surrey in June 2022. I had an independent snagging report I paid for and even with that it was and has been a nightmare getting things rectified. I might as well say I had the house rebuilt and most of the snagging completed May 2023. The aftercare service is a shambles unless you are persistent like myself and know your rights. You get 2 years warranty with the builder but they duck and dive to rectify anything in the hope you go away. We are supposed to have a 24hour emergency line for faults in the house. That too is a joke as they are rude, unhelpful and unless you have a flood or your life is in danger nothing is deemed an emergency. Good for those who say they have had a good experience as mine certainly has not been pleasant. I have had a smelly bathroom which in the end they realised their builder had forgotten to put the flute on in the loft. That took them 6 months to figure out and a house that smelt like a sewer. I also had a banging noise for 8 months each time the heating was on. After sending out so many people to investigate they finally realised something had not been fitted properly in the pipe work causing pipes to bang together when the heating is on. A new issue today is I have a leaking toilet and the so called emergency service told me the place needs to be flooded before they can call someone out. Absolute joke. This builder has no regard for homeowners just want your money for a rushed build.

Amazing Service

FAO : Sales Manager and Operating ManagerI had a wonderful encounter with Angela who is currently selling for Cala at the Maidenhill Development in Newton Mearns.She gave a wonderful initial service which was so impressive it convinced us to only buy our next house with Cala. She was also very helpful in providing information and arranging a visit over to the Stepps property to view another show home. That colleague was also very helpful, I believe her name might have been Anne.We decided to go with a property 8 minutes down the road which is also with Cala, the Jackton development. This was due to being able to secure a larger property saving a wee bit in the process but Angela’s wonderful customer service definitely was a big part of our decision to go with Cala as she gave such a great introduction to your company and we felt that if the enquiry was this lovely and helpful the aftercare would be similar.Please feel free to contact me for more information about my experience.

Gilchrist Gardens, Erskine

We have had a fantastic experience so far reserving our new family home at Gilchrist Gardens, Erskine. This process has been a joy to work through and this is largely down the superb customer service by the sales team in the office. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel extremely welcome by Fraz and we really noticed the difference in customer attention to other developers/sites we'd visited. All through the process he has been a great help and not to forget Lizzy who was a real help when picking our kitchens and bathrooms. The sales team at Rosemount were very helpful in helping me secure my future home. Unfortunately they were unable to sell the top floor and penthouse which it seemed were being retained. It appears I cannot be considered for these which seems a little unfair.

Hampton Lakes - The A Team!

All of the sales team have been brilliant. Coralie, John, Heather and Kim who we met on handover day. They all care about what is right for the customer. There wasn’t any pressure and we just laughed all the way through. Even with the serious stuff with solicitors etc. The house itself is quality through and through. Yes we have a few snags. It’s built by humans after all. The whole site team are friendly, Rob the site manager is brilliant and efficient. He was handing over a few more houses when I sent an email about the kitchen snags and he still came round even though a quick conversation before my commute to work I said only when you have time (and he made time). Fixed what he could fix there and then and has put the new bits on order. I bumped into my old neighbours and have recommended Cala to them (we’d love to get all of our old neighbours up to this bit!). Everybody who has come round is so impressed with the finish of the house and the overall development. We can’t recommend Cala enough. From start to finish and all the in between!

Once they have your money, they do a disappearing act

Alot of these reviews seem like they are left by people who don't actually live in a cala home (just something to bear in mind).While we do like our new home and it's in a good location, getting any snagging issues seen too is like pulling teeth and the houses have been built in a rush so there is a lot of stuff. But they do their best to get out of fixing anything that "can't been seen from 2 metres away". Of course this is not mentioned before you move in, that there's rules to what is snagging and hoops to jump through.The gardens all flood and we've been waiting 6 months and still no progress.It's also clear that all the contractors cala employs don't respect residents while on site, and have been making noise from 7.30am onwards every week day of living here with no end in sight. If you are moving into a new build site even when they say they are nearly finished, they aren't. I often see people stood around doing nothing and every job that gets done is botched and rushed. They all seem to be keen to go home around lunch and so wake us up making noise first thing and then slacking off. Cala are just keen to make sales and once you're in, they don't really want to know. Just be aware this is how it will go, I'm not saying don't buy one if it's the place for you, I'm just saying go in with eyes open.

Sales Team Excellent! Customer Service team pleasant but really slow. I have been left with a disgusting mouldy bathroom for 8 weeks.

Sales team were excellent when we moved in 8 months ago, and cant speak highly enough of them!However, aftersales comes across as disorganised and passive. The customer service team are lovely and polite on the phone, but take far too long to reach solutions. I have had a leak in my shower that has ruined my carpet, tiles and skirting leaving my bathroom covered in mould. The only issue with the shower was that it wasn't sealed properly. This should be an easy fix, but for some reason 2 months down the line I am no closer to having it sealed, although I have been booked in for a joiner to fix the skirting. Not sure what the point in fixing the aesthetics before the actual problem is. I am absolutely not one to complain; I have actually never left a review or complained about any transaction/service before. I totally appreciate this is a complete first world problem but it's only fair that it is fixed. Especially as it is an easy fix that is being drawn out far longer than it should have been, and as a result the damage has become very significantly worse than when first reported. The only people who have been good at getting back to me is the sales team, and this really isn't their fault or area of concern! They are lovely and very attentive but it seems that this is out of their hands to some degree. I just really want this fixed as my bathroom is disgusting, mouldy and smells bad. I cant use my bedroom as it is my ensuite. I don't feel anyone is appreciating how unpleasant it is to live in a mouldy house - especially one which is less than a year old and cost a significant amount of money. I don't want to place any blame on customer service advisors as they are really pleasant and sound as though they are really busy. However, I think 8 weeks for a very small job is very unreasonable. I would also like confirmation that it will not be left to me to pay for a new carpet and tiles, seen as these now both need replaced due to the length of time this has gone on.

Excellent Customer Service

Cala clearly puts customer service above all else from my experience. They were beyond helpful with my purchasing and moving-in process during a very busy period for me, where I was away for long stretches at a time. The staff were always polite and helpful, and any initial snagging issues were sorted out the same day I mentioned them. Overall the build quality is the best I've seen from a new build and I really can't fault much at all.

Suzie has guided me through the process and has gone out of her way, from showing me around the show houses, answering all my questions. Abysmal Aftercare Service

Abysmal Aftercare Service - Cala were great up until a point where we’d handed over money and actually bought our property . . . and then it just seems like they don’t care! Snagging still dragging on 3.5years later and they’re not interested in putting right any of the defects to the communal areas around the estate. They would rather just ignore you and let the costs fall to the general estate holders. If they mention Remus during the purchase process, give it up there and then as they’re also a shambles of a company that Cala will impose on you and then do nothing to help you resolving the problems they create!
