A big thank you
A big thank you to the staff at the Ramsgate branch but especially to Emma smith the sales negotiator she went above and beyond to keep me informed of the sales progression of my property. We found ourselves in a long chain which we had no knowledge of due to sellers that were less then truthful (not miles & Barr or Emma’s thought but another estate agents negotiator that didn’t even bother to contact us from the beginning)

Unsafe, filthy, broken - miles and Barr don’t care
We rent a house from miles and Barr. On move in day we paid our deposit and first months rent before we were told to collect the keys from their office. Upon entering our new home none of the cleaning or works had been completed. Considering we are in the midst of a global pandemic I found this completely unacceptable. We spent 3 days cleaning and scrubbing and having to stay in a hotel due to the filth. Among all the cleaning jobs, I have had to scrape grease off the kitchen cabinets with a paint scraper, clean excrement from the outside of the toilet bowl and deal with limescale on every bathroom area. In addition to this we have had to fill countless holes in the wall and repaint the whole inside of the house. Despite agreeing that all of the cleaning and works should be done before our move in date (and emails to prove it) miles and Barr continue to be useless at holding up their end of the deal. We will need to continue to spend money fixing gutters and doors (which are detached/ laying on the floor!), the porch, the electrics etc if we want to live in a safe home. Spending this amount of money on top of our rent amount is ridiculous and we have had no support from miles and Barr aside from eventually sending a carpet cleaner a week after we moved in. I have sent a complaint via their complaints procedure but still have not had a response. I would never recommend miles and Barr! Look elsewhere!

On the verge of being left homeless…
On the verge of being left homeless because of incompetence, delays, and now outright lies.Offered and agreed a Move In date, plan accordingly and give notice on current property.1 week later, some BS about workmen unable to get in, so push the Move In date back 8 days.Plan and pay for things based on the new Move In date.2 days before Move In, chase to confirm about keys, only to have date pushed back another 3 days, to basically coincide with the date we have to give keys back on current home, meaning we have no way to move furniture, decorate etc and even 1 more days delay means we would be homeless. Then, to be told they never mentioned any date other than the latest one, and we must "be confused" (I have it in writing - no confusion there!), and there is nothing they can do about it....My wife is in tears, I am an emotional wreck, and we have got to find £750+ to cover lost deposits, cancelled van hire, storage, and hotel costs. We have Rented for the last 25yrs, moving numerous times. NEVER have we been subjected to such a dysfunctional, ignorant, could-not-care-less bunch of cowboys.

I have had my house up for sale for 2…
I have had my house up for sale for 2 1/2 months now during the current "housing boom" with this agent. During this time I have had four viewings - a fifth did not show up and no explanation was given. The first "buyer" made an offer, then withdrew it two weeks later after searches had been started. Last person to view told me my house was "overpriced, too small, and about to collapse due to a construction fault", which - if it is a fault - affects all 120 houses on this 40-year-old estate! He then offered 10% below asking price, which had already been reduced. Nobody seems to know what other staff are doing, they double up on calls, or do not call at all. I had to constantly remind them of my situation and circumstances. Given up now - will try again in the new year with another agent.

When we were looking for houses, Miles and Barr far and above had the best properties on the market in the area. They use great 3D imaging software so you can do a proper virtual tour and when it came to do in person viewings, the staff were friendly and covid compliant. As first time buyers, they helped us negotiate a lower price on the property so that we could receive our Help to Buy ISA bonus, and kept us up to date with any proceedings on the seller's side. Since it was a chain-free sale, it took less than two months from first viewing the house to completion.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

My wife and I sold our apartment in Margate using Miles & Barr, it was a long and difficult experience but Miles & Barr went the extra mile to ensure it happened in a friendly and professional manner. They held our hand all through this time and we don't know what we would have done without them in our corner. Very happy to recommend them to people looking to sell in the area.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

I am far from happy with them
I am far from happy with them, i have now been without hot water for 11 days and still they are not chasing the plumber to fix the boiler, as my shower also works from my boiler i can even have a bath or shower. I am disgusted with the service, how would they feel with no hot water!!!!!!!!!!I have to state this is NOT down to my landlord as he is paying them to deal with this.I have now told them that if it is not fixed by the weekend i will be going to environmental health and trading standards.....

This is the most unprofessional firm I have ever come across. Trying to get them to rent you any property is a complete waste of time. They will never call you back, never respond to an email. Avoid these people. It took these morons 2 weeks to respond to an offer. Complete fools. The very next agent I called completely blew me away with speed and effeciency. They always followed up on either a phone message or email.DO NOT USE MILES&BARR

I have been waiting two and a half…
I have been waiting two and a half years for Miles and Barr to replace a single fence panel at our boundary with a property that they let next door, I offered to do the job for the cost of the fence panel (as it just needs a new one to be slotted into two concrete posts) but they cannot authorise.I’ve spent this whole summer with a 6ft gap in my fence and my pets have had to stay indoors, when we call they tell you that person that deals with lettings is not there and then shortly after you get a text stating that somebody is coming to look at it or to price it.They’ve blamed it on Coronavirus but how did they know about Covid 2 years ago? They are dreadful to deal with and have ruined our summer more than lockdown has, as we can’t even sit in our beautiful garden.I bet it will be done immediately when they want new tenants as they’ve told us the current tenants are leaving soon.

It was easy and painless. It can be so stressful selling or buying a property but not this time. Thanks Miles and Barr the end result is that I didn't begrudge your % in fact I thought you worked hard for it and you made my life easy because of your professionalism.

Def not on buyers side. Like most of agencies - greedy for profit BUT without properly taking care of potential clients. Demand in Margate is definitely high but so is a need for decent estate agencies now!

AVOID! Never again will I get in contact with…
Never again will I get in contact with Miles and Barr, you’re given false information and get passed around on the phone to different people that don’t know what they are talking about. I had a viewing booked that I was specifically told could not accept an offer until ALL the viewings has taken place. I now receive a call with an offer being placed and nothing more they can do when being fed false information. Very unprofessional and unorganised people that do not know what they are talking about.
