After a fall through buying a different property with another agent we contacted Hawes & Co Surbiton to see if they had any similar properties as our mortgage product was about to end. We spoke with a lovely lady by the name of Liana, who told us her Manager Richard had just been out to value a property that fitted our description. Hawes and Co arranged a one-off viewing for us before it went live online, we loved it, offered , and had it accepted without it going to market. Fast forward 8 weeks we exchanged and completed. Tremendous amount of gratitude to the Surbiton team for finding us a home.

I can highly recommend Hawes & Co. Sarah (with the help of others) was very professional, always kept me in touch of the state of play, and in the end, sold my property. I was not pressured to accept low offers, but was advised to wait for a good offer. Terrible experience. Very discriminating, both the company and the appalling credit referencing company they used. We had 6 weeks to move out of our current property, and because we had been through hawes and co-before, and rented flawlessly we decided to go through them again. We found a property that we really liked and we went to look at it and put in an offer. We did everything we were asked to do and because Hawes and co use a terrible credit referencing company called ‘legal for landlords’ we were eventually turned down for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I was completely discriminated against because I’m self-employed and have a number of regular jobs as a self-employed person. In the last year I earned £46,000 and my fiance and £19 1/2 thousand pounds, but they would only take six months of bank statements and assumed what I earned over the course of the year instead of looking at a years bank statements. They told me I have only had 22,000 but refused to look at it any further. If they had looked at the other six months to see exactly what I had earned they would have seen the exact amount. They found a CCJ on my fiance‘s credit file that we knew nothing about, and we called the court to find out what it was. The court confirmed this should not have been on his credit file and it is being removed and a letter was sent to prove this, but they refused to look at it and rejected us anyway. This company is rude, Unwilling to listen and unwilling to be objective in any way, even though self employed people’s cases can be different. This whole process took them nearly 3 weeks leaving hardly any time to find a new property and almost left us homeless. It took them two weeks to tell me they needed a second lot of bank statements from me. Two weeks! when we could have been sorting things out but they didn’t bother to tell us. Considering I am in a wheelchair right now and have had an accident and pending a brain procedure, I could’ve done without this level of stress which left both myself and my fiancé nervous wrecks. Also told me my guarantor did not qualify. Despite having over £100,000, some in money, some in stocks and shares she did not qualify because she did not have £17,000 just sat in a current account for 30 days. What a ridiculous load of rubbish. Who keeps £17,000 In the current account! I don’t understand why hawes and co use this horrible, discriminating, unprofessional referencing company, who discriminate good to people for no reason. I could go on and on about the problems I had with hawes and co but you would be reading for a long time. We did not feel respected by them, we feel that a lot of things were not told to us about what was going on and we were misinformed. I have sent an email to them complaining about the situation, but I have been competely ignored. I am appalled by the way we were treated there. I suggest a good professional company in Surbiton you go through chancellors. Smooth, polite and caring and we feel like valued customers.
