Great service from the Storrington team

We recently rented a property through Hentry Adams Storrington. From start to finish Alex and James made the whole process feel straightforward and stress free, a very different and much more pleasant experience than when we rented through one of the big chain Estate agents a few years ago! Both were (and are) easily contactable and a pleasure to deal with; helpful, courteous and informative. I would highly recommend Henry Adams Storrington, without any hesitation, to anyone looking to rent a property.

To be honest I approached looking for a new place to live with a little trepidation. We all hear the horror stories. BUT my dealings with the Team at Henry Adams were flawless. Alex and Steph were both professional and friendly. Always making themselves available, returning calls and emails. I was looking for someone based in and who understood the area I was looking to move to and I found them. The welcome box and card is a lovely touch as well. It all makes a big difference when you're in the middle of what is usually a stressful situation. Highly recommended.

My experience with this agency has been nothing short of terrible. Every person who showed me properties looked like they would rather be anywhere else. No interest, no motivation, and often giving incorrect information. The level of incompetence was obvious from the very first visit. Buying a home is already stressful enough on its own, you really don’t need the added frustration of dealing with people who either don’t know how to do their job or simply don’t care. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I got. The buying process was just as bad. It’s crystal clear that they only care about the money. No support, no follow-up, no courtesy, not even a basic congratulations card after spending a huge amount of money on a home. For a company that practically has a monopoly in the city, the quality of service is shockingly poor. If you have the option, choose another agency or deal directly with private sellers. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had. I would never use them again, and I genuinely advise others to avoid them.

After having some less than positive experiences with lettings agents elsewhere in the past I can honestly say how refreshing and lovely it was to deal with Henry Adams. Alex was fantastic from the start, with his open, honest and consistent communication, friendliness and helpfulness. I could not have asked for more. Steph was great on my moving in day, even helping out with a delivery which arrived before I'd got the keys and being incredibly patient and understanding! I am writing this review to express my utter distaste and disbelief at the customer service I have received from this business. I recently enquired regarding an apartment which had been advertised by your team on Rightmove and which I was very interested in renting. Therefore I called your team immediately to arrange a viewing. I managed to secure the first viewing of the apartment within the earliest time slot. Once this was arranged (as it was days in advance of the viewing appointment) I had time to think it over and didn’t want to take the chance of losing this property so I once again communicated with your team to see whether I could put an offer in without viewing the apartment as I was happy with the photos posted on the site. I was told that it is not possible and that I need to view the apartment first. After viewing the apartment I spoke to your office immediately to put in an offer and I even went over and above the asking price to secure the property. I was told my offer will be put through to the landlord and I would get an answer the following day. The following day, I had heard nothing, no communication whatsoever so once again I rang your office around midday to ask for an update. I was told the person dealing with it was not in that morning which is why there is a delay but he would get back to me in the afternoon. There was still no communication. I called the office again at around 3:30pm for an update after the flat status had miraculously changed to ‘let agreed’ online. I was then informed that the status was updated to stop further enquiries but they’ve not come to a decision yet but someone will call me back by the end of day (6pm). I can’t help but think that this is not true as every time I communicated it seemed like I was bothering them and was an inconvenience asking for an update on my offer when I was promised a call that day. All I wanted was an update! Fast forward to 5:30pm I call again and was told that a message has been passed for someone to call me back urgently before 6pm. I didn’t receive any call, as expected. The following morning I hoped someone would get back to me first thing having passed the message the following evening… but no call once again. I then called up at 10:45am to be told “We’ve just taken a holding deposit and unfortunately the landlord did not choose you. We were actually about to call you right now!” (Hmm, sure). I wasn’t given any other information and the lady on the phone rushed to end the call but said they would call me back if anything changes. In my humble opinion, they had already earmarked this property for somebody else prior to the viewings. After having to call up 4 times for an update I don’t believe anyone will contact me. I have provided my phone number and email also but I seem to be ignored. I work in a very similar industry and I understand things can get busy, however ignoring someone for over 24 hours and then to be bluntly told their application did not go through is quite rude and disrespectful. Total waste of time and terrible communication. Avoid this letting agency at all costs.
