We're very thankful that we found Merril & Richard from Martin & Co. They take the stress out of letting and we'd highly recommend them to anyone. When I initially moved to the UK 14 months ago for work, I started the challenging process of finding an apartment sharing with a friend & colleague. We luckily found Merril & Richard from Martin & Co. They were very helpful, whether it was viewing times, assistance with the rental process or general questions (and I had a lot obviously). We found what we were looking for quite easy with their help. Throughout the tenancy they continued to provide professional & friendly support. Since I've been looking for a family home, now my wife and son have moved to the UK, Richard & Merril have continued to assist us with our search. It's fair to say they have gone above and beyond any letting agent I've had dealings with in the past (here or in Ireland). Of course they have now successfully found us a great family home and are now assisting us with transferring from one place to another and have smoothed out the process. It's been very important to us that Merril & Richard have taken out the stress of letting. Very professional helpful service from Merril, Richard and staff at the office. If you're letting in the area they should be your first port of call.

We received first class service and they spent as long as was required to find out about our requirements to ensure they sourced the most suitable tenants for us. We secured a very good tenant almost immediately and every communication with us as landlords and with our tenants have been fast, accurate and dealt with effectively to completion. I would recommend Martin & Co in St. Albans to any landlord and tenant and would never use anyone else. Having moved abroad in the meantime, Merril & Richard have continued to provide the same seamless service and communication with no changes at all and is as if we still lived in the UK. I own 2 flats in St Albans, which I am letting out through Martin & Co. I switched to Martin & Co. from another letting agent that I was having problems with, and it was the best decision to make the move. Richard and Merril are first class, really outstanding service, nothing is too much trouble. They get the basics right (simple things like consistently paying the rent onwards to the landlord's account on time every month, which believe it or not my previous agent could not get right!) and also go the extra mile and are fully on top of things like contacting the landlord and tenant well in advance of renewals of lease, etc, to make sure everything is organised. I was in particular extremely pleased with work we needed done to the flats that they co-ordinated - they have great contacts with local suppliers/workmen, which ensures good quality and cost-effective service. They also provide very much a 'consultative' service (in comparison to other agents) and took the time to work with me as landlord to do a proper assessment of the market before advising on achievable rental rates, and then when it came to negotiating with tenants they didn't just recommend taking the first offer to keep their lives easy, they really pushed for the maximum rental achievable. All in all, a huge breath of fresh air, I highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed. In the world of letting agents there are many unscrupulous people out there, but here you get the best of both worlds - local friendly family-owned service, but backed by a large company in Martin & Co.

Company to avoid at all cost : 5 years of hate crimes in a tenancy This company has harassed me during 5 years. They tried to evict me by all means including trying to kill me. They eventually evicted me without serving any notice and stole for 3 millions pounds of my belongings, leaving me homeless for no reason knowing I am an old woman living on her own with a physical disability. This company should be avoided at all cost by anyone who respect Human Rights. I have not met one person in this company during the last 5 years that were respecting them. They play mind games with tenants. Protect Human Rights and stop giving money to this company, you will regret it at some point and you will regret the money given to them and they will make sure you will lose more! They came for instance several times to damage the property and the garden and asked me to pay for the damages they have done! These people should be in prison or be left homeless the same way they manipulate to make good tenants with no fault tenancies become homeless! This company deserves nothing more than bankruptcy for all the criminal offences they made to me during 5 years in my tenancy!
