I recently had the responsibility of selling my parents house, my parents are 90 and 93 years old and suffering from dementia. I employed Paul Meakin Estate Agents in Selsdon, one of the best decisions I've ever made. The whole team were brilliant, from the manager, Sam Weller and ALL who work under her, they were all fantastic but a special thank you from myself and my parents goes to Heather Beaumont who far exceeded any of our expectations. She was professional, patient, polite, proactive, efficient with excellent communication skills. Dealing with my parents is difficult for me let alone for a stranger. I think they looked forward to the viewings just to see Heather. Even after the sale I realised that I had forgotten to take meter readings, I called Heather and asked her to call the buyers for the information, needless to say I had it within the hour!I cannot recommend Heather and the branch highly enough.

Sam was very reassuring when I decided to put my house on the market after living there for over 30 years. Everything moved at my pace, everything was clearly explained and I was kept up to date during the process. I chose Paul Meakin to deal with an Executor’s sale on the basis of an initial meeting at the property with Sam Weller, the Manager of the Selsdon branch. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the local property market were immediately apparent. After we had instructed the agency to market the property, the service Sam and her team provided went way over and above what I had expected. Particularly helpful, since I was selling the property from a distance, were the offer to “keep an eye” on the property while it was unoccupied, helping to find someone to clear the property, taking final meter readings the day before completion and, of course, finding a good buyer. All “part of the service”. I can’t recommend Paul Meakin too highly.

Sam Weller at Paul Meakin, Selsdon Branch dealt with the sale of my property. She was very intuitive to its current market value and priced it competitively. I was also offered the lowest sale commission rate compared to two other local firms. Once instructed the property was quickly advertised and marketed. A buyer was quickly found who was in a good position to buy it. I was updated throughout the sale as issues arose and were dealt with. I would recommend Sam and Paul Meakin to others.

I cannot thank Paul Meakin enough, especially Sam at the Selsdon office. Incredibly professional but at the same time personable. I know this is her job but she just goes the extra mile all the time and she really does know every aspect of a sale and purchase. She always has an answer and if not, gets it as soon as she can. Extremely responsive. She dealt with our sale and purchase which was stressful at times but Sam was always on the end of the phone reassuring or helping, even out of hours. We would also like to thank the girls in the office who stepped up and assisted if Sam for any reason was not available. Again, all accommodating.

Great Team!

I rented a property through Paul Meakin and I can honestly say I am gutted to have my lease come to an end and the landlord having to sell the property!The whole team at PM were lovely from start to finish of my tenancy. Alison and Emma certainly helped ease the pressure of moving during a pandemic! I recently completed on a property that was on the market with Paul Meakin. Sam Weller of the Selsdon branch was absolutely incredible throughout. In what ended up being a very stressful process due to various failings of the solicitors Sam was able to work her magic to ensure completion could happen within agreed deadlines. She was my go to person for information updates as the solicitor's communication was often non existant. Sam was incredibly helpful, reliable and professional, preventing me from turning completely grey in the process which I think I would have done without her support. She helped keep me sane and we had a good laugh along the way. Would definitely use Paul Meakin if I come to sell in future.

Absolutely horrible experience

Absolutely horrible experience. Racists in fact. A few months ago I put an offer on a property. Sent multiple emails and phone calls for an update, did not receive a response. Found out the property was sold, wasn't even informed by them or given the option to negotiate. Natalie was not a pleasant woman to deal with, stay away from this estate agent if possible if you want a smooth transaction. Managed to buy my dream home now with an estate agent that actually care about my needs and respected me.

As a new buyer and relatively new to the housing markets in the UK, I would rate Paul Meakin team very highly for their professional and ethical attitude throughout the process.Always responded to smallest of our queries, concerns despite the usual constraints posed by lockdown situation when everyone and everything is cramped on time, resources and accessibility. Provided utmost transparency and support while we went through various stages, motions as the process unfolded. Wonderful Estate Agents!

All the team at Paul Meakin have been wonderful. They are incredibly friendly, professional and truly care about their clients. Throughout buying our first home we were very well looked after by the team who always had time for us and were more than willing to support us through any hick-ups throughout the buying process. We would like to extend a special thanks to Gill and Emma who worked really hard to make this purchase happen for us and always responded promptly to all of our requests and enquiries, often going above and beyond. We so appreciate this and it has made our buying experience feel really positive even when complications arose. Lovely team but frustrating from start to finish

I reached out to Paul Meakin to set up viewings on two properties on the Inglewood estate, one directly after another. The Agent that was to show me around (Amy) was switched at the last minute and her stand in (Amelia) running late, which PM did call to tell me about, but only 10 minutes after the appointment time and after I had already been in the first property and been shown around by the owner. When Amelia arrived, she didn't actually know where the second property was located on the estate which led to us walking around in heavy rain to find it. I should say, none of this was necessarily Amy's fault, and she was extremely lovely and apologetic, but it didn't come across as entirely professional and was somewhat frustrating. After viewing the second property, I decided to put an offer in. It took the seller a week to accept this offer, during which time both Amy and Sam were in clear and regular contact with me to update me on the situation. This is where all communication stopped, though. My offer was accepted on 7th July and this was the last I heard from the branch without my reaching out first.I know that the stamp duty announcement on July 8th threw everything in the industry into chaos so I am inclined to be more forgiving of this but when I contacted them on the 14th August and again on the 30th September as we came across hurdles in the process, responses were prompt and friendly but not entirely accurate and generally promising to look into things with no follow up. Then, in mid-October, I started to be emailed daily, pressuring me and forcing me into actions on things where we were actually still awaiting responses from the seller. I know that this pressure was coming from the seller and the onward chain, but this was somewhat unreasonable given that the seller was the one holding things up. All in all, I found the people themselves to be lovely and polite but not the most helpful under a frustrating purchase.

I cannot speak more highly of Paul Meakin as an estate agent-they rang me every step of the way to update me and they were always so helpful when I needed some advice. There is always someone at the end of a phone to answer any questions you may have. I know you can find cheaper estate agents out there but you definitely get what you pay for in this circumstance. Amy especially was very helpful throughout the whole process. But the whole team were excellent. Highly recommend them.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service. We were buying a property which Paul Meakin were managing. It was a long 5 link chain, that commenced right before Covid-19. Needless to say this caused a lot of uncertainty, and the chain moved slowly due to solicitors, estate agents etc closing. Emma kept it moving throughout, chasing the entire chain (not only her own links) and kept us informed Throughout. I genuinely think if it wasn’t for her the chain would have collapsed.
