Rebecca Keeling is with no doubt a 5 star state agent! She’s been since the first second we met so welcoming, charming, warm and super super super helpful. Intercounty- Saffron Walden BranchI would just like to praise the team at this branch. Unfortunately, we did have a few hurdles to overcome from the sellers on the property we had purchased and Charlotte played an instrumental part in helping to drive it forward. Her ability to follow up on leads was exceptional, it was interesting to see how Intercounty's customer service was a cut above that of our seller's estate agent. I would like to thank Claire for her proactive approach when the nation was heading into the first lockdown and Pete's knowledge and expertise. I would definitely recommend Intercounty and appreciate how they helped with our move.

I honestly don’t know how my experience with Mollie at Intercounty could have been any better. From my first enquiry on the website to move in day was a little over two weeks! I’ve had more trouble getting my car serviced. Intercounty Saffron Walden.

We recently purchased a house being sold by the Saffron Walden branch of Intercounty and could not be more impressed. Peter, Charlotte and Clare were absolutely fantastic. Peter was our main contact and so helpful throughout (we were first time buyers), he called each week to ensure we were happy and provide any updates, he chased the solicitors but most importantly it felt as though he cared, took any concerns we had seriously and was extremely reactive even on days off!!! What was also hugely impressive should Peter have been unavailable Charlotte or Clare would be more than happy to assist and knew exactly what was going on at all times. It was a pleasure dealing with the team at the Saffron Walden branch and I could not recommend them highly enough.

Don't waste your time with any other agent. Intercounty in Saffron Walden all the way

We chose Intercounty in Saffron Walden during the COVID crisis as we had decided to sell our buy to let; we wanted an estate agent that were still operating, responsive, picking up their phones and one that was motivated to sell our property, it may sound simple that you expect an agent to pick up their phones, but trust me, COVID did not prevent this branch from operating as if we were in normal times. Intercounty, namely Charlotte, Clare and Peter were absolutely amazing, communication was always open, honest and regular, text messages were sent to inform us of pending viewings and also a very useful market report was provided. I can't begin to describe how motivated the team in Saffron Walden are with buying/selling etc one's property, they literally do everything including chasing the chain, solicitors, making sure the vendor is updated and it's such a personalised service that you feel that they are very much part of your sale process. They give honest feedback, they provide rational to a vendor's irrational thoughts and are always open, honest and very transparent. I absolutely would recommend this team if you want honesty and reliability; also a team that care about what your trying to do with either your purchase, sale or even a let. Charlotte in particular who was our main point of contact was always available, phone, email and even after hours discussions. For me, when dealing with such an important decision and process in regard to houses, I sincerely trust this team to do the best for me; equally you can contact them even in times of crisis due to a delay in the chain or other house sale matters, they are always available.

Great team and great service

I have just completed the purchase of a property through the Saffron Walden branch. Throughout the process of looking for a suitable property, the Intercounty team of Abi and Clare stood out as they were really proactive and helpful in helping me find somewhere that would be right for me. This was a unique experience in a busy market where every other agency never seemed to do more than the bare minimum. Once I found the right property the team went the extra mile to help get everything sorted out. In particular Peter, was a real star in helping to solve any problems that came up along the way and was constantly supporting me to drive the process forward by liaising with all the associated parties in a really effective and professional way. Any time that Peter was not available I was really impressed that Abi was always able to be equally as helpful.I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking to buy or sell a property in the Saffron Walden area.

Excellent service from Great Dunmow branch

George in Braintree Office on Different Level to Competition

I hardly ever write reviews and people are quick to complain and slow to give praise so I felt I had to do this review. I contacted all the agents in Braintree and surrounding area and by a country mile George at Intercounty was on a different level to the other agents I spoke to. Of course I want a much better property than I can probably afford, who doesn't but the help George gave me was the single best bit of advice I have been given. He was so knowledgeable about renting, asked me questions others didn't and suggested I write down a list of needs and wants explaining these are two very different things. He suggested that I should focus on my needs property wise and if he could find a property that covers my needs then the essentials are covered and I might be lucky enough with the odd want included. I told him in an ideal world I would like three bedrooms as my daughter lived with me and she had a car but I walked to work so I wanted plenty of parking. He then said ok thanks for that so let me explain what I mean. Ok you have a daughter that lives with you who drives, you walk to work in town so essentially your NEEDS ARE two bedrooms and parking for 1 car ideally within walking distance of town or close to a bus stop so you can get to work but you would like an extra bedroom and more parking if at all possible but overall the 3rd bedroom and parking for cars you do not have may not be essential so these become YOUR WANTS. He suggested I look at 2 bedrooms with parking as a starting point and maybe beyond if viable. I was amazed at the level head on his shoulders and wondered why I had never thought of it like that and why none of the other agents had got into my mind like George. I started to look at my way forward with a much clearer and with a realistic head on and indeed he is so right so rather than trying to find the impossible I am now looking at properties I can actually afford and as long as my needs are fulfilled any wants included will be an added bonus. Thanks George for focusing my mind you were so helpful and if at all possible it will be Intercounty I rent from and not one of the other agents.

Intercounty Harlow Letting

I mainly dealt with Mollie from Intercounty and she was a delight from start to finish. Due to my work circumstances I had given her a rather rushed timeline for getting the property I was interested in. Regardless of that, her and the Harlow team managed to navigate around the short space of time and the current covid climate we find ourselves in. I was very impressed that background checks, landlord contact, inventories and contracts were able to be done so quickly in a world where it’s getting difficult to organise anything. I was very reassured throughout as she was always in contact and answered any questions I had. I wouldn’t hesitate to go through her/ Intercounty Harlow again, highly recommended!

If I could leave less than one star I…

If I could leave less than one star I would! We had an awful experience with Intercounty, we were buying a house that they had on the market. They recommended a solicitor to their sellers that would not pick up the phone, respond to any emails etc, a member of staff at Intercounty outright lied about a conversation with our solicitor, then they were asking our solicitor for her advice! The whole experience was a shambles and held up our house move for weeks on end. When we asked for compensation they refused, it’s a small world and reputation is everything, by reading some of these reviews we are not the only people that had had a terrible experience!

Okay, we're in the minority of negative reviews here, but you oughta' least read this as a potential warning!

We rented Orchard Cottage in Ickleton for just shy of 5-years and Intercounty Saffron Walden acted as the 'middle' company we dealt with only at the start of the tenancy and then the end. Initially the set-up was fairly straightforward, they took their pretty big chunk of change for doing very little and we got on with moving in. However toward our moving out date 5-years later it came to light that our (the tenant’s) follow-up comments to the original, and quite poorly evidenced, check-in inventory had never been filed/saved, and they’re kinda' necessary to back-up any potential issues, especially when you have the type of landlord who’ll re-straighten used nails, circling for potential extra cash to pick up. Now to be fair, e-mails were answered reasonably quickly, yet every single one was just a simple 'we cannot comment' fob-off, and it's really hard to see why we even had to deal with Intercounty at the end of the tenancy. Anyway, the biggest gripe is, Intercounty filed the paperwork to return our initial deposit, which was 2-months worth of rent, but this was done with a deduction of 27% for 'alleged' rent arrears. Fact is though, with bank statement evidence we could prove we were not in any arrears, in fact we'd manage to over-pay rent and were actually owed money by the arithmetically challenged landlord. But Intercounty were not interested in this 'evidence' and merely took the landlord’s say-so without him supplying any evidence to back up his fictitious claim. So it’s interesting to note there's a follow-up comment on here from Intercounty to another miffed reviewer on 20 Feb 2020 that states 'If deductions are proposed we do understand this will not always be received well however there will always be supporting evidence in relation to this'. Erm, really? So where was the supporting evidence we were due? Intercounty, I shall repeat, just sided with the landlord based solely on his say-so without him providing ANY evidence, whereas we have full black and white financial statements showing exactly how much was paid and when, proving NO money was owed by the tenants at the end of the tenancy agreement. So now we're needlessly stuck in a 3-month wait for the remaining 27% of our deposit to be returned, which it will be as bank statements do not lie (unlike landlords) whilst our evidence is reviewed by a third-party. Yet with just an inkling of common sense and the brief time to look at our hard evidence Intercounty could've saved all parties the time and hassle now being incurred because, let's face it, the only side they're currently making money from is the landlord (and his many, many properties). And just for the record, the landlord (DAVID HUMAN) broke several of his contractual tenancy agreement obligations, which as another reviewer has pointed out - Intercounty let slide, plus allowed a large and structurally dangerous outside flint-stone building (barred from use for the final 18-months of our tenancy, without any rent deduction) situated in the properties garden to remain hazardously unstable and unfixed, even though it was pointed out that it was starting to crumble back in 2015, thus potentially putting the tenants at risk. Summary; if you’re a landlord Intercounty will look out for you. If you’re a renting tenant expect a meaningless smile with a smattering of incompetency. UPDATED EDIT, 14/07/2020: Finally, an independent inquiry has determined, we the tenants, were NOT in any rental arrears (as stated all along) and shall now, over 3-months later, receive back OUR initial deposit money in full. Thanks again for the needless time-wasting Intercounty; I guess it would have been some kind of issue to you had it been YOUR money....

Brilliant work from Intercounty.

We have only started renting our property through intercounty. Since we moved in (during lockdown) we have been very happy with the work of Allison Branch and her contractor Terry. Allison is always on hand if you’ve got a problem. When problems have arisen, a Allison has sent Terry out to solve the problem. Today he has laid a new floor in my kitchen. Terry is a very polite man, I feel very comfortable around him and he is very kind and playful with my 3 year old daughter. I have never felt so comfortable with a contractor before. He listens to what needs to be done and carry’s out the work to a very high standard. Thank you Allison and Terry for all your hard work.

My fiance and I have just purchased a property with Intercountry Estate and we felt we should share our experience so far. Right from the beginning we were pleasantly surprised with how laid back, non pushy, however extremely knowledgeable and very helpful Peter was. He allowed us to look through the house without breathing down our necks and any questions we had, he knew the answers. We have also dealt with Lisa, who has been extremely helpful booking multiple viewings to the same property and an excellent communicator between us and the seller. We are still in the very early stages of the process but we feel extremely comfortable and at ease, with both Intercountry Estate and the sellers.

Kat Keats has been brilliant at managing our property and it’s always such a pleasure to speak to her. Kat is so capable, pragmatic, efficient and very trustworthy. When Kat took a break from the business things definitely went astray and we were so grateful when she came back. With Kat we always felt the property was well looked after. Doug is very personable and easy to deal with. Although we were not a direct client of his, as we were the buyers, he did treat us like one. We had a very lengthy house purchase, and during the 9 months I think I spoke more to Doug than my husband. He was very good at keeping us in the loop and providing regular updates.We also really rate James, he is very down to earth and he offered us lots of good advice. If we were to sell in the future, I would want to use him. I think his career in real estate will go far and I can see him heading up a branch one day in the not so near future.

Great service from a Buyers perspective

We have just bought a house that was sold through Intercounty. They have been professional, punctual and personable throughout the whole process. We needed to visit the house on 3 occassions at short notice to survey, measure for carpets and get a quote with a plumber, and it was never a problem gaining access (special thanks to Olivia). It was also helpful to have Doug Whybrow as our liason between the sellers solicitor and our solicitor. He was fantastic at keeping us informed of progress and helping out with any queries.

Chloe Haken and Luke Harrison at Braintree had to work very hard in the final days of securing the tenants for our property through no fault of their own AND neither was it ours or the tenants!! The referencing agency, sadly I do not have their name yet, fell woefully short of what it says on the tin, REFERENCING. They failed to pursue the stumbling block as ferociously as these two employees had to and dealing with the payroll department of a High Street frozen food company who only deign to answer their phones for two hours a day has to be experienced to be believed! Such incompetence and indifference. Chloe had been on hold for nearly half an hour to this company when we arrived in the office and finally she got through and explained very clearly what was required and we needed it now not next week. She got it. These two have more patience than I have and now our tenants are moving in after a delay of many days. Thank you Chloe and Luke.

The staff at Intercounty in Stansted were fantastic . Special mention to Jenny who talked us through the whole selling and buying process and with her explanation and advice she made us feel very at ease with what can be a very stressful process. Helen Mehmet did a good job

Helen Mehmet graciously drove me from property to property in winter 2018/19, listened to our requirements, saw how much we had brought from South Africa, and then searched for something that could meet our needs. I think she did a good job of showing me a range of sizes and locations so that I could understand where our property fits into the housing stock on the market.She was always friendly and professional and came up with two properties that were potentially suitable. There is probably a bigger property out there but we settled on a house built in 1956. Being old it needs some work but it is ours: no more paying rent (and therefore paying off the landlord's mortgage!). We have parking, a garage and a room we have dedicated to laundry: drying, ironing, folding all in one place. Fantastic!Buying a house in the UK was onerous: we discovered it is a very expensive process, complicated, confusing and stressful. In that regard our solicitor from Premier Property really looked after our interests and advised us.
