We got the rental in the end....

I'm from Texas, so the agencies here are very different for me. They did what was needed for us to get the rental, however, our landlady doesn't do electronic signature so we had to come into the office and do the paperwork all over again. You would think they should know what their client prefers. Additionally, the third party inspectors they hired to look at the house before we moved in made a lot of mistakes on the inspection report. So it was a lot of faph, but in the end, we got the rental and have moved in.

Great experience shame about the conveyancing

I would definitely recommend Intercounty. Every person I dealt with along the way was pleasant and professional. From the initial discussions with Bob, to the first viewings with Olivia and the consequent conversations with Will and Doug. I work in a sales environment and know the lack of empathy that can arise when dealing with people, especially when they are stressed and frustrated, which enevitabley we became during the process. I never felt I wasn’t listened to and that is the greatest asset your team have. Thanks and well done. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is the recommendation of Intercounty Conveyancing (the dreaded Premier Property Lawyers). This was a let down, as all the positive things I experienced from Intercounty didn’t follow through with PPL. We were given a named conveyancer called Leanne Martin who was pleasant enough but was terrible at communication. She didn’t return calls or email and here phone went straight to answerphone most of the time. I guess these are a big general conveyencer that all the agents use. Unfortunately you end up feeling like you are thrown in a big pot and you become just another number. Why don’t Intercounty strike up a relationship with a local firm and then people may get the same personal positive experience?

For me, being a nervous buyer/seller, Doug (sales progresser) at intercounty Bishops Stortford was 1st class. He called regularly and always kept me in the loop whilst reassuring me along the way. We dealt with quite a lot of the staff throughout our sale and they were very good especially Doug who stood out, he was extremely helpful and professional throughout keeping us updated at each stage and always available if we needed him. Think you don't need an Estate Agent? Think again.

We recently purchased a property the sale of which was handled by Doug Whybrow and his Team at Intercounty Estate Agents in East Hertfordshire. If you think you do not require the assistance of an Estate Agent once you have entered into conveyance proceedings I urge you to think again. Doug and his Team were wholly instrumental in ensuring the sale completed. Doug and his Team liaised with all parties in the chain and, simply put, without his very kind assistance the transaction would not have completed. We are indebted to Doug and his Team. Further, Doug will be our 'go to' Estate Agent of choice for future property sale/purchase transactions.

Unfair and greedy terms and conditions and totally negative experience

Intercounty were engaged to provide an introductory service (only) for finding a tenant for my property. They did not provide or confirm any terms and conditions, nor any Fee Agreement in advance.They provided an acceptable service in marketing the property, and found tenants who were prepared to rent the property for 2 1/2 years. However, Intercounty then demanded a fee that was the equivalent of 2 1/2 times what would have been paid for a six month rental period where the work required for the service would have been the same which ever rental period was to be agreed. Three other Letting agents agreed with me that this was unfair and greedy, and would only have charged the same fee for a 6 month let as for a 2 1/2 year let.There followed attempts at negotiation, but Intercounty was unwilling to compromise, proposing instead that I go for a 6 month letting agreement and then later renew it for the fuller rental period originally agreed. This caused the tenants to back out of the process.I had by then received a notice from a vetting service employed by Intercounty which gave me the contact details of the prospective tenants, whom I then contacted, offering to provide the tenancy on the originally agreed 2 1/2 year basis at the originally agreed monthly rental, and also offering to remove the rental review after a year, that was an original condition. The prospective tenants accepted to proceed on this basis under a proposed direct agreement with me. The prospecive tenants were then contacted by Intercounty who sabotaged the new direct arrangement, causing the prospective tenants to pull out and not want anything further to do with me or Intercounty. I would probably have done the same in their position. Intercounty were professionally negligent in not agreeing or disclosing their agency terms and conditions in advance.Intercounty were uncompromising and unreasonable in sticking to their greedy and unfair terms and charges.Their handling of the whole experience twice caused the prospective tenants to withdraw, which cost them to lose the tenants and myself but all of us to lose financially as a consequence.

Definitely recommend Intercounty!

We have come into contact with many estate agents through the last few years buying our first home and now moving on. Intercounty have without doubt conducted themselves in the best way of all of them - realistic pricing, honest feedback and even just the fact that they have longer opening hours has been really appreciated. We were told we could sell our house for much more than we knew was realistic, and now are watching all houses around us reduce their prices to try and get a sale, while we are sold, complete in our new house and very happy with the outcome. Josh and Rosanna particularly were amazing - giving their honest thoughts on houses we were looking at when they could have just pushed us to make offers on the first ones we saw to hurry the sale along. I would recommend to anyone and will definitely use them again if the need arises, which I sort of hope it doesnt!

Unfortunately the sellers pulled out of the first house but Intercounty recommended another house to us which we have offered on and its been accepted. We have always found them so nice to deal with and I have to give a particular mention to Liz and Jenny who have always been so lovely and helpful. If we do ever end up selling our house I would use Intercounty to sell, without a doubt.

the team were very good in dealing with our sale and purchase recently. we hadnt moved for a very long time and never both at the same time so they made sure to let us know all the steps. they were great ad advising things to do as we needed to process to go very swiftly.
