TrustpilotBanned from this Post Office!
The Post Office website describe themselves as: "An anchor of UK communities for centuries, Post Office is a commercial business driven by a strong social purpose: to be here, in person, for the people who rely on us." However, the majority of P.O. are franchises, run by untrained, rude, and arrogant people who couldn’t care less about the service they are supposed to provide. This is what happened to me: a female P.O. counter assistant at the Station Way P.O. in Buckhurst Hill, is unsuited to the job due to her brusque, aggressive manners, her incompetence and frequent mistakes that leave the customer out of pocket. I have been a target for years because I prefer to choose the service I buy and not be overcharged.Last Thursday, the 1 of June, I visited to post a large letter and was paying in cash the £.1.85 requested. I started counting the change and putting it down on the counter, but the woman was clearing it out as it went down and hurrying me up, so I lost count. When she asked me for un amount I thought I had already paid, I said that she shouldn’t have cleared the money from the counter as it was impossible to know what I had paid that far. She started shouting at me in front of other customers and the man at the shop till came over and joined her. She said that she didn’t like me and would not serve me again. I gave her all the money she wanted even though I wasn’t convinced it was due. It was a traumatic and very embarrassing experience that left a very bitter taste. The following Monday morning I needed to post another large letter and because my feet and knees are very painful, I didn’t walk to the next P.O. which is half an hour away. While I was in the queue the postmaster, a man whose English is very poor, called me on the side and told me that I was banned from his P.O. When asked what I had done he said that his employee had told him that I had been at the counter for 20 minutes, the previous Thursday which wasn’t true. He was very arrogant and abusive and would not explain anything or allow me to speak. He threatened to call the Police and made me leave the shop. I can’t believe that people can be banned from a P.O. for no reason other than someone doesn’t like you. If P.O. branches are an anchor for communities, fulfil a social purpose as well as offering banking services and access to other essential needs how can some uneducated, prejudiced person take all that away from me and others?UPDATEFinally, after much chasing I received a reply from the P.O. : "Our decisionI’m writing to let you know the outcome of our investigation into your complaint.Thank you for taking the time to raise a complaint, we know that this can be a stressful experience and we’re sorry not to have delivered the service you expected. It’s always valuable to have our customers highlight ways in which we can improve our services and experience. After thorough investigation, I have come to the decision that we cannot support your complaint on this occasion. I understand that this not the outcome you had hoped for.How we came to our decisionI want to take this opportunity to explain the process we went through that led to my decision. I hope this will give you an understanding of the logic behind the outcome. You contacted us on 5th June to make us aware of an incident at the Station Way Post Office. We are sorry to learn of your experience and would like to take the opportunity to apologise for any upset you have been caused. Regretfully, as I was not present at the time of your visit and the branches version of events differ, I am unable to fully conclude the events that took place or confirm the language that was used. From speaking to the Postmaster today, we are advised that he would like to Exclude you from visiting the shop and post office at the above branch. We confirm that as the branch is a franchised operation, we were unable to reverse their decision as the business owner does maintain their right to choose who they wish to serve. We now consider that we have addressed your complaint however, should you wish to contact us about anything else, please email our customer care team by replying to this message.Once again, I want to thank you for taking the time to raise this complaint and giving us the opportunity to improve experiences. I’m sorry that you didn’t receive the outcome you were hoping for."Clearly the P.O. don't take complaints about the service customer receive at their branches seriously and we are further belittled.

TrustpilotVisited your Monton branch in Salford…
Visited your Monton branch in Salford today. Was made to wait forever with only one person serving customers. The others were seemingly standing around doing nothing while the queue grew out the door. Eventually got to the front and was told I can only send large letters first class for 4.19 or 5.50 for recorded delivery. I asked to send 2nd and was told the cheapest is 1st. They also pretend like it doesn’t fit through a letter sizer by putting it at an angle so you have to pay even more! Absolutely disgusting that you refuse to allow customers to use all your services. The item is only worth £5 to begin with! This company needs to disappear overnight if conning customers dishonestly is the only way you can make any money. I won’t use you again. Plenty of much cheaper and more convenient options nowadays. You need to get rid of these staff to repair your aweful reputation there’s days and rebuild as a fair and trusted organisation, for some reason you’ve gone the other way.

TrustpilotDisgraceful policy
I had a quick look online at parcel options (and prices) before heading into my local branch to post a medium sized parcel. I hoped to purchase the 'tracked 48 service' for £5.15. There was no clear indication that this wouldn't be offered in branch. When I got to the branch, I was told that this was an online price, and that branch prices were different. In addition, it wasn't possible to have the 'tracked 48' service or even the 'tracked 24' service, instead if I wanted any tracking on my parcel I was told I needed to pay £11.15 for signed next day delivery. I think this price difference is genuinely shocking, and I'm so disgusted that the post office are just ripping people off (typically older/ less technologically confident people). I cannot see any logical reason (other than to take advantage of more vulnerable groups) why the 'tracked 24/48' options are not available in branch. I will be avoiding at all costs in the future.

Hi Sarah, sorry to hear about the issues you experienced in our branch. Just to let you know, we do not offer Tracked 24 or 48 services in our branches and instead, our branch representatives will offer a service that's equivalent to the one requested. For example, if you request Tracked 24, we'll offer Special Delivery. I apologise for any confusion this may have caused you - Courtney

TrustpilotDarlington main post office, 1 staff member for ages, long wait
Mid afternoon Friday only one member of staff at the central Darlington, Cornmill post office. Naturally the customer in front of me had a lot of things to do so the wait seemed very long. I pulled up a chair for a while and at least two people gave up and left. Eventually another staff member came and things improved. I enquired about the situation and was told that they had staffing issues with regard to which this gentleman had asked for help. The main (and I think only) post office in the centre of Darlington with only one staff member is a disgrace.

TrustpilotI sent two parcels from the UK (paid…
I sent two parcels from the UK (paid just under 68 pound sterling) R1400 and the post office didn't even attempt delivery of them. The website stated that they were ready for collection as of the 11 May although they didn't say where. I wrote the first email on the 18th to customer services and didn't hear back from them so I then escalated it on the 20th of May demanding a answer and was only then told where they were. I live in the UK. I paid for these to be delivered to a person's home address and due to sheer laziness, the post office has instead left them with no commication at a post office and they have to fetch them. I should be refunded for this. Had I of known this was going to happen, I definitely would not of used this service. They could of stolen the parcels had I not sent them tracked. This service is disgusting, and you are lazy for not attempting delivery..... Shame on you. As for Tabisa Mvandaba in the Germistan branch, your attitude is disgusting as you should have responded to the email that I sent with regards to the refund in postage....

TrustpilotA person who does not like people.
I'm trying not to get angry, I'm trying not to get upset, I've had enough. I have 12 parcels to send via postal service. After 10 packages, they asked for proof of posting again, saying it's unfair to the people behind me in line because I'm requesting proof of posting. I didn't know about this requirement, and I told them I will take it into account next time. On the next occasion, I went with 6 packages. It was 4:33 PM when my turn came. I had already waited in line for 20 minutes before that. I get very frustrated when they ask for proof of posting. This time, they said if I want proof of posting, I should be here before 4 PM, around 3:15 PM. I'm asking, if I don't need proof of posting, why should I bother dealing with your unfriendly and unpleasant attitude? Someone is saying to this person, "If you don't do this job, are we going to torture you?" Please provide other options for a post office near me. This way, both this person can get rid of me and I can get rid of them. If it wasn't nearby, I wouldn't have to tolerate their disrespect. Or the post office can offer an alternative option for proof of posting. I will put everything in the red Royal Mail postbox. Additionally, I should add that when I pay for the postage at the post office instead of printing it at home, they question why I'm paying less for the large letter postable box. They say, "Why are you not paying more for it? I don't make any money from this." They have said this a few times or made a face and made a dismissive sound. I'm truly exhausted and fed up with dealing with that attitude. If I have time, I go to Barkingside High Street to avoid dealing with that face. Furthermore, he also seems to enjoy deliberately engaging in other tasks to keep me waiting. I used to believe that as people age, they tend to prefer being kind, but this person seems to have made it their mission to frustrate and exhaust everyone younger than them.

TrustpilotTrusted local Post Office you can rely on.
I am 73 years old and was asked by my friend to get a D1 provisional paper licence application for her son. I rely on my local Post Office in Northenden and the proprietor Mr Khurran was ever so helpful, even though I asked daft and obvious questions, he answered with great charm and did not get annoyed or frustrated even though I filled out two forms incorrectly. He offered helpful advice and checked I had completed the final application correctly. Nothing was too much and he offered the correct envelopes for original proof documents and correct postage.Thank you SIR for your service which in my case I feel went beyond the call of duty.

TrustpilotThis is about Post Office Savings
This is about Post Office Savings. There is no other place to leave a review. I opened a Post Office Savings account and when I was notified that it was opened, I immediately transferred some money into it. Nothing appeared for a few days and then it was bounced back to my current account. I rang up and was told that I needed to submit a bank statement as ID even though I had never been asked for that. I duly sent the bank statement in. I left it several weeks in order to give them time to process it. I rang today to check and was told that the account has been closed because I put no money in. Quite the most appalling customer service and the left hand doesnt seem to know what the right hand is doing.

TrustpilotClunky website, poor instructions, rude customer service
I opened the account and was sent instructions of how to deposit money using the website, but there was no option to do it even after linking my current account. The FAQs on the site also had incorrect instructions. There is no app and the site is dated and clunky. When I tried to do a bank transfer it said my bank could not verify the payee. I called customer service and the person was very dismissive and rude and when I said the instructions and FAQs are saying one thing and he's saying anything he was just really rude so I closed the account.

TrustpilotAshton-under-Lyne. Euros
Went to get some Euros. Both windows at money exchange had signs up saying not in use but two members of staff sitting there. Three were two members of staff at the normal counters. I said I’d come for some Euros. I was told the member of staff dealing with that was on lunch break ( it was 3pm) and to come back in an hour! I asked if there was anyone else who could serve me and was told no. I’ve been served for euros by one of the members of staff who was sitting doing nothing at least once before. Outrageous. Four staff. Me the only customer. Come back in an hour. How is this justified? Not fit for purpose.

TrustpilotDiscrimination allowed at branches
Unfortunately this was a TERRIBLE experience, I have an assistant dog and on this day I walked in to Hathershaw branch with her. I was NEVER refused entry with my dog at any Post Office branch so I was confident this was fine. The owner started shouting at me from behind the counter that I had to tie my dog outside and it could not be in. I explained it was an assistant dog and he asked me for my card. Under the Equality Act 2010 (and Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in NI), which class certified assistance dogs as "auxiliary aids". It is generally unlawful to refuse access to a disabled person with an assistance dog in public places, transport, or housing, and businesses must make reasonable adjustments. And the same act there is no requirement for a credential to be displayed as there is no official registry for assistant dogs. When I tried to explain this he shouted "anyone can say that" (that it is an assistance dog) from behind his counter. He told me to go to the side counter and again I tried to explain. The younger man here said that the other guy was the owner of the post office so he could do as he wished. Again I explained this wasn't true and I explained doing so was discrimination. The owner continued to shout at me making rude gestures and telling me to leave the branch. I told him I would file a complaint and he was pretty ok with that. I am pursuing further action. One thing is to not be aware of the law, the other is to treat disabled people in a rude way because of your ignorance. I was deeply disappointed and was left shaking and distressed. The sheer lack of respect, lack of empathy and arrogance shown was extremely poor. Next day I went to a different branch, entered with my dog, not even a second look, they served me amicably and politely. The world is full of hatred and this is the right way to act, if you have questions ask politely, no one knows everything but you can surely find out if you care.

TrustpilotI am writing to lodge a serious…
I am writing to lodge a serious complaint about discrimination, abuse of power, and verbal intimidation by a member of the local Post Office in Didcot, Georgetown Post Office, Wantage Road 52-60.This is not the first time that this member, a woman aged between 30-40, tall with long hair, etc. (she did not want to give her name when asked) has displayed such behaviour towards me.I arrived at the branch at around 12:30 on a Saturday, and the clerk informed me that the woman behind me would be the last one to be attended. I would like to clarify the rules here - if the post office is open between 9 am - 1 pm, shouldn't all customers who arrive during those hours be attended to? If there are too many customers, perhaps there should be more than one employee present to serve the public during those hours.I waited patiently in the queue, and when it was my turn, I started the service. However, I was asked to fill in some paperwork on the side, and the clerk served two customers who arrived after the time she said she would not serve anymore. I did not mind and said she could serve them before me, as I was not in a hurry. The woman serving me was very friendly, and I even thanked her for her attention. However, when she was ready to serve me again, it was nearly 1 pm. She was unsure about the process to send the parcel and said she did not like to do those types of parcels. I did my best to help her, even spelling out the names and addresses written on the envelope.During this process, the woman who I am complaining about arrived. She was not at the office at all, and I am not sure if she was working or just visiting. She immediately came in with an attitude, shouting at the lady from far away, "ARE YOU OK? I AM COMING THERE."She took over and started doing the work instead of the lovely lady who was serving me. Unfortunately, I was given the wrong information about the price, and I was asked if I wanted track service, which would cost around 5 pounds. I agreed, but after the clerk saw that the letters were to be sent abroad, the price changed to around 28 pounds. I found this to be too expensive and requested a cheaper option. I was informed it would be a few pounds cheaper, and I said, that I understood, but was my decision on how much I could be able to pay.The woman became rude and insisted that I pay first and then she would see what would be cheaper for future reference. I refused, saying that I needed to know the exact amount before I paid. The woman then accused me of being rude to her friend and pushed my parcels back to me, closed the binders and left me standing there.I asked for her name, but she refused to give it. She then came out, opened the door and told me to leave, claiming that I had been rude to her friend. This behaviour is unacceptable on several levels. First, she cannot talk in the name of other people. She was the one who brought the tension to the situation. Second, she cannot intimidate me by opening the door, coming out, and telling me to leave. Third, this same person has been rude to me on several occasions in the past, but I did not complain. Today was enough. I felt intimidated, disrespected, and abused. I believe she did this because I am a foreigner, and she feels she has the right to treat me this way.I left the post office with my parcels in my hand, feeling like a criminal without any explanation. I was verbally abused by a member of the team. This ruined my day, and I felt sick afterwards.I am also filing a complaint with the local police. I will not accept this kind of treatment any longer.Best regardsAG

TrustpilotOne Star is Too Many for W.H. Smith
On 13th April I tried three times, (morning, lunch time and afternoon), to post a parcel at the Post Office in Macclesfield town centre run by W.H. Smith. Each time that I visited, only one member of staff was serving at the counter. Why they ever built 6 customer service points, is beyond my comprehension. I have never seen more than two staff on duty! There was a queue of over 20 people, meaning that I would have to wait for 30-40 minutes. This state of affairs is frequent, NOT occasional, this has been going on for years now. I have experienced it many times. W.H. Smith, you should be ashamed of the poor service that you offer to the people of Macclesfield. This was once an efficiently run Post Office, before W.H. Smith took on the franchise. W.H. TrustpilotAvoid Post Office (Bentalls Centre, Kingston)
On Monday 27th March 2023 at 17:42, I was at Kingston upon Thames, Unit L7 Bentalls, Shopping Centre, KT1 1TP and the man behind the counter was extremely unprofessional. He could clearly see I was next in line, but acted as if I were not present. After dealing with a customer, he began to talk on his phone in another language in front of me and then afterward proceeded to ask someone else to come over to the counter despite clearly seeing that I was next in the queue. There was no verbal communication from the man, only the gesturing of his hands as if I was a dog to put the parcel on the weighing machine and then give him the parcel. He then said: ''second class'' to what appeared to be his school aged son who was sitting beside him in at a counter service that was not in use. The man then put my receipt in between the glass in such a position that I had to stretch my arm to obtain it while simultaneously turning his head away from me as if I were fodder. The customer service was absolutely abhorrent. Staff should not be running a Post office if they are unable to TREAT ALL SECTIONS OF SOCEITY with respect and dignity, irrespective of their race and background. If I did not need the parcel to be posted promptly, I would have walked out.

TrustpilotThe Post Office should be ashamed of themselves
If I could give one star I would. After I don't know how many complaints about one of the staff at our local post office he's still there! He's a pervert, a thief and violent little man with SMS. The police have been called a number of times because of his behaviour. He threatened my 87 year old Dad with a baseball bat and actually attacked another elderly man with the same bat! I complained to the post office. All they did was give him annual leave for 2 weeks and he was back behind the counter. Nobody responded to me as to why The Post Office thinks this appropriate punishment. It's disgusting and beyond a joke. His Dad is the manager and refuses to sack him. As well as all this the whole family are thieves. Short changing people, keeping scratch cards and lottery tickets that have won and telling the customers they haven't won. You should be ashamed to allow such a disgusting family run a post office.

TrustpilotPoor excuse for a Post Office.
Poor excuse for a Post Office. The local Post Office in the High Street was a "proper" Post Office with half a dozen positions and even at busy times, the queue was short and waiting times short. That all changed when the real Post Office closed and moved into the local WHSmith branch.Smiths was already a cramped little corridor of a store and the "Post Office" was shoe-horned into a space at the back of the shop.On Friday, I wanted to send a package so went into Smiths. The long queue looked ominous. As the queue inched forward, it became obvious why. There were two positions open, one for post and one for travel and business. The woman on the post position already looked harassed. It wasn't helped when a customer decided to jump the queue and wanted currency at the second position which had been dealing with the queue. The post woman promptly closed her position and thought this might be a good time to start some administrative tasks, shuffling papers around and then proceeded to individually weigh about 20 identical envelopes and stick stamps on them one at a time.Eventually, 20 minutes after arriving, the currency woman left and I got rid of the package. There was a lot of muttering and I likened it to 1970's style Russian shopping. If the Post Office thinks that this is a good customer experience then they had better think again.Dumping the work of a full sized High Street Post Office into the storeroom of a WHSmith branch is never going to work.I hope I never have to go in there again.

Went to the post office on Old Kent Road SE1 in the late afternoon, I had to pay my council tax bill for the month. The post office was packed full until the queue was outside the building. My turn arrived so I could be served at the counter. The cashier tried to short change me the change from the council tax bill. She claimed she gave me the change but clearly didn't. I had to wait a while for it to be sorted out on the same day. I wouldn't move from the counter. She says I tried to confuse her no way you never gave me the change, I told her in the end after the cashier battle I got my change. How could you lie and think you would get away with it. I will not be using that post office ever again. The women cashier is rude and cannot concentrate on her job. I suggest she goes and do a customer service course and learn how to communicate with customers effectively.

TrustpilotAVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I took a loan out with post office loans, I feel the Post Office Online Loan System is designed to trick people into paying extremely high interest rates without giving you much information back. It tricks you into thinking you’re getting a deal which works financially for you, then changes the outcome a lot later down the process without highlighting the change in rates clearly for people with my condition, this makes it very difficult for someone with dyslexia to understand. Once they have you sign the document online, you don’t hear a thing from them to sort anything within the cooling off period, I hadn’t heard anything from them for 1 year which is far too late to change anything. There was NO agreement sent by post as they stated (Which ironically would have been by their own postal service, No Proof sent), and the email the post office told me they have sent by email ( no proof it’s even been emailed to me) mentions absolutely nothing about the ridiculous amount of interest to pay or the total amount, the only thing the letter they sent me does mention is the payments of £525.66 per month, this tallied up with the original amount and interest rate I thought I was meant to be paying , total amount £28,725 (APR 14.9% £3,725 interest). Strangely since emailing the ombudsman and the post office to complain, now the post office is sending me letters every couple of weeks, so I’m having trouble understanding why this was so difficult for them to do from the start. Paying £16,001.48 of interest on a loan of £25,000 is criminal, its actually worse than the Wonga scandal many years ago so I’m finding it hard to believe the Post Office Loans are allowed to get away with this behaviour. They are lending huge amounts of money to the public without any way for the public to check via an online account like every other loan provider out there offers their customers, had this been in place from the start this whole situation could have been avoided which is causing a huge amount of stress to me and my family. Customers should be able to check once they take a loan out the details of the loan online ( The post office have no way for customers to check online), sending an email or relying on the unreliable postal service is unacceptable in this day and age with the technology available to us. I think their service and technical procedure and protocol isn’t fit for purpose for the times we live in today. If they cannot provide the technical standards every other money lending organisation is using they shouldn’t be allowed to offer this service and should be shut down immediately to be fully investigated before any other customers have to go through the destress my family and I have to live with.Due to how unhelpful the Post Office resolutions team are i have now gone back to the ombudsman to take this futher. Anyone thinking of a Post Office loan avoid at all costs. They are a dangerous company only after one thing, ripping customers off!

TrustpilotTo be served by the branch 'manager' e1…
To be served by the branch 'manager' e1 2dw you will experience the worst customer service you have probably ever encountered. I found him rude, stroppy and argumentative, even when I was polite, respectful and unconfrontational. Very very rude staff - aggressive and patronising. Not helpful at all, and provides misleading information. Tries to charge you more for postage. PLEASE AVOID. It's the main staff, I think the manager - who is the problem.. I have experienced and witnessed extremely rude and intimidating customer service every time I go into this post office. I now go out of my way to avoid using this branch.Patronising, belligerent, patronising Manager runs the show in this pit of a post-office. His staff follow suit, although I can see that one or two of them are constantly embarrassed by him. Others (post offices) closed due to cut-backs, but this ghastly apparition of customer services still exists. A hidden gem for researchers & students on how not to run a business.Manager is rude, unprofessional and tries to intimidate customers. They always quote a higher price for parcels, please check online before you go or try and avoid this place. They will demand you tell them what's in the parcel and make you feel like you are doing something wrong. Need customer service training.Very rude and no sense of any customer service. It's such a shame the reputation of the post office is let down by the rudeness of the staff!! I would never recommend this post office to anyone. Also I will not be using this post office myself ever again! He needs to be sacked and the post office closed down or new staff in this post office please help. This really needs to be dealt with.

TrustpilotOrder placed with Asos
I placed an order with Asos, and requested the parcel be left on the back door step. It was supposed to be delivered on the 5th March. I saw the guy on my home camera knock on the door, and leave with my parcel. I went to the Royal Mail website and asked for redelivery on the 6th March, and to leave it on my back door step. It was never delivered on the 6th March. I called on the 7th March and was told it would be delivered on the 8th, but they couldn.t tell me whether or not it would be left where I requested. Surprise, surprise, no delivery. It is now the 11th March and I still don't have my parcel. There was birthday gifts in there which has now passed. Absolute garbage delivery service. I won't be using Asos again if they continue to use the Royal Mail as their parcel delivery company.

Good afternoon, Jonathan. We hear your frustration and we are very sorry you've experienced this. It is important for us to highlight that Royal Mail are a separate company to ourselves. They are responsible for delivering parcels. We suggest getting in touch with them directly by calling 03457 740 740 or emailing here - https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/webforms/contact/c/310. Hope this helps!Best,Arun
