Would like to shout out Nicola who was the best estate agent we dealt with while house hunting in Reading. She has a huge amount of local knowledge and gave us what felt like a free guided city tour as we viewed properties! We were honestly sad that the property we bought wasn’t one of hers.

Unprofessional and disengaged

I bought a flat with Winkworth and decided to try to sell my property through them a few months ago. They seemed quite engaged, up to the stage where I actually signed the sole agent agreement. The timelines they gave me for listing it were not met and clearly just a lie. The one paragraph description of the flat they wrote was laughable - it didn't in any way describe my flat (highlighting aspects such as hard wood flooring and Nest which I do NOT have) and was full of typos - clearly something pulled together in less than 5 minutes. The initial brochure included only pictures of the living room until I called this out. Once on the market, there was basically no interaction at all, no feedback on any viewing, nothing at all. I asked them to remove the listing 2 weeks ago and even that seems like an unmanageable task. I'm waiting until the agreement expires to re-list with someone more professional.

Last-Minute Viewing Cancellation

We traveled almost 2 hours for a booked house viewing, only to have it canceled last minute. This lack of coordination raises doubts about the agency's reliability. Agents should excel at arranging viewings, and this experience fell short of expectations. Hope for improved communication and better service in the future.

Winkworth leigh on sea

Winkworth leigh on sea. A bunch of liars and con artists. We rented a flat and asked for a break down of the fees we had to pay and also for the landlords details which were missing. The staff nodded and smiled and yes we will get those for you as we signed the contract and got our keys. 5 minutes later when we asked for them again they said we couldn't have them. Blatantly lied to pur faces. They take so long to respond to problems with the flat and didnt fix the big issues. The place obviously had mould which had been painted over as it appeared after a few weeks of moving but lied when asked about it and later said they think it might have had in the past but they were unaware. They also turn up well over half hour later to an appointment they made to inspect the property upon leaving. Their store was a 8 minute walk to the flat and when we called to see where the agent was, she hadn't left yet despite being 20 mins late already. Avoid these useless people at all costs.It's funny how a company only wants to help you after you leave them an honest bad review. I'm not wasting anymore time responding to such an awful company.

Thoroughly disappointed with Winkworth , Brook Green W14 .

Extremely unreliable and unprofessional . I was advised to market my property with Winkworth , Brook Green , Shepherds Bush Road. The owner , Ben, came to value my apartment on Wednesday 7th , he was enthusiastic about getting it on the market next Monday. He confirmed all details discussed in person on an email on 8th , I called in the morning on 9th to reconfirm I was very happy for them to proceed and I then got a call from the photographer who booked in for today 10th at 09.00 am but after 20 minutes he sent me a text saying that he had a double booking and did not offer another option. I tried all day yesterday 9th to find out what had happened and only today at nearly 02.00 pm I got Ben’s email saying that he could not market my property as the situation would not allow him to satisfy my needs. I wasted 3 precious days and think it is outrageous that someone thought to be an established professional, can actually behave like this. Unexpectedly disappointing.

Utter jokers

Utter jokers. They made it so difficult for me when mentioning I wanted to view some properties near Victoria train station. An Indian guy in his early '40s asked me to come to their office, after asking all the irrelevant questions on the planet then showed me a rubbish council flat. I was feeling a bit sick from his car fumes and asked if we could meet at the next property while I was walking. I have never seen him ever since: he simply disappeared and did not even answer the phone. I was too embarrassed to call the office and complain. I gave up on this company, they are just bullies asking to pay for just about everything while they laugh all the way to the bank thinking if you are a single woman with an 'exotic' accent you must be having a low IQ too. Bunch of jokers to be avoided.

Had a terrible experience with James from reading branch. My babies weren't well so i requested to move the viewing by 15 minutes. Didn't agree citing busy schedule, when i reached after a 35 mile drive, received a call that the tenant isn't letting us in. Later they apologised and said they would arrange for a video viewing. It was a Saturday and Monday morning mailed that both properties are gone. This is extremely unprofessional behavior. House hunting is tough and such agencies further compound the trouble.

Winkworth: The Agent You'll Regret Trusting My encounter with Winkworth was more like a horror story than a tenancy agreement. Right from the start, their neglectful attitude towards my concerns set the stage for disaster. Despite my relentless reports and pleas for maintenance, they turned a blind eye and even had the audacity to blame me for their shortcomings. As if that wasn't enough, their attempt to pin unfair charges on me during the deposit dispute was the final straw. Having to drag them kicking and screaming to the Deposit Protection Service wasted countless hours of my precious time, all because of their incompetence. And let's not forget their little escapade of unauthorized entries and mail tampering, a major breach of trust. Oh, and did I mention the delightful surprise of finding someone had cooked in the kitchen and left behind a pack of noodles? It seems amateur chefs aren't the only thing you'll have to worry about with Winkworth. Winkworth? More like Wink-what?! If you enjoy waiting forever for a response or being charged for things that were broken before you even arrived, then they're your go-to.

We were already familiar with Winkworth from a renting perspective where they fully-managed a property on our behalf. When it came to selling we used their sales department who persevered despite the first three prospective purchasers pulling out! The service provided was very good with both Robin and Gareth going the extra mile to make sure the sale was eventually completed. Selling a house is known to be one of the most stressful experiences in life but Winkworth helped sell the house in a what is currently a difficult market.

greedy agency not believing in someone when they tell them they have 10 years of tenancy in a house, all they want is someone to make a lawyer, doctor or someone working in the house of Parliament salary to rent a property from them, absolutely a disgrace of an estate agent company.

The property management team are absolutely terrible. We were reliable tenants for two years. We had a severe leak and mould issue that lasted over 5 months with absolutely no help from the team. As a result, we actually decided to hand in our notice as no one could give us a timeframe for when they mould would be cleared. We have now been waiting a month to see any of our deposit back. Avoid renting with Winkworth Reading at all costs.

Looks reasonable rental fees when you sign rent agreement but you get to asked pay exit fees also which generally other letting agents don't ask. I had good thoughts of Winkworth until I had to exit tenancy agreement. As a tenant I ended up paying check in and checkout fees both and this all happened due to mention off paying this is in reservation form but no linkage off this in Tenancy Contract.Upon asking why isn't there a sync in two different documents being asked to sign at the time of agreeing, I was given very irresponsible answer stating " I didn't write the contract" so I cannot tell you. In the end I chose to pay for my peace which costed me more money than most expensive letting Agent in Reading.
