When my wife and I decided to sell our terrace property just off Caversham Road in Reading, we asked around friends and business contacts for recommendations. The name “Martyn Russell” came up in various conversations. We did our own homework and found that the company had been dealing successfully with property sales in the Reading area for at least 40 years, primarily as a family concern. A quick chat with Alex was all we needed to confirm that the recommendations we had received were going to be accurate. His first advice was to maximise price potential by refreshing the property and made recommendations of trades people he has used and trusted on previous similar occasions. Alex then produced a very professional video for the Martyn Russell website, including drone shots and a "walk-around" commentary, and ensured that the property would be advertised on various major outlets such as Zoopla and Rightmove, as well as great coverage across local social media channels. Despite it being the festive season, we very soon had significant interest at or around the asking price of £350,000. Alex was at the end of a phone, impressively, often well outside of the 9 to 5 Monday to Friday bracket. The sale has now been completed, and we have shared the celebration champagne with the friends of ours who recommended Martyn Russell!

My husband and I have just come to the end of our tenancy with Martyn Russell, having rented a property in Reading from them for 2 and a half years. We have rented with a few different letting agents in the past decade, and Martyn Russell have easily been the most approachable, reliable and flexible agents we've ever dealt with. If we ever had an issue or a query, be it a maintenance issue or a query about our tenancy, Lorraine and Dawn from the team were both super responsive and genuinely lovely and friendly to correspond with. Issues were resolved promptly and we were always given appropriate notice of any arrangements for repairs, inspections, and safety checks (i.e. gas cert etc.) The thing we personally valued most, was that as tenants we felt completely supported by them, without feeling smothered. We were given the space to feel like it was our home, while still being supported by the team as agents. We've been so happy renting with the Martyn Russell team and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them :)

Appointed Martyn Russell to handle the sale of my rented apartment. Compared to other estate agents I've worked with (over a period of 15 years), Alex was a genuine pleasure to work with. I have been a tenant through Martyn Russell property for 4 years and could not recommend them more. Throughout my tenancy, I have been treated with care, respect, and professionalism. Lorraine has been my main point of contact over the years, and she was always very reactive to any small issues I have had. My friend recommended Martyn Russell, as the agent did a great job of letting her apartment. After a bad experience with one of the big local agents, I decided to make a change to smaller agent. I met Martyn during the property evaluation, I decided to hire him after the first 10 minutes of our meeting, I can feel he is knowledgeable about the local market and experienced in both letting and selling. Everything went smoothly, Alex Prentented my home nicely, he gave suggestion about the layout and small improvements to make my home more appealing to the buyers. On renting side not a nice agent full of lies, bugs, and they claim they professionally clean carpets no suitable sitting area. They do not listen, all they do is to accuse and blame tenants, at the end of your tenancy they will try and milk all your deposit claiming to repair walls and ceilings, cleaning carpets. Just be warned.
