GoogleWe sold our flat through Chancellors Reading and was initially impressed with Dave who got us a buyer fairly quickly after having not got any interest through a different agent. The service we then got after was nothing to shout about. I had more contact from the agent selling the house we were purchasing making sure we were ok and everything was going smoothly than we did from Chancellors. We had several calls when it got quite close to the end of the sale but nothing was proactive from Chancellors, we were having to reach out. I hadn't had any contact for a few weeks and when I reached out to Dave he told me he had left the business! Why was our sale not handed over to anyone? Likewise 2 weeks after we've moved in to our new home we had contact from the Reading office asking whether we still needed help selling the flat?! I'm not sure how Chancellors can justify taking a % commission for doing very little work and showing a real lack of communication both with us and internally.

In particular, Shannon Seymour has done an amazing job in trying to résolve recent issues. She has liaised closely with the tenants, us and the contractors making sure issues were resolved quickly and efficiently. She is courteous and really helpful. I should add that Charmaine Smith was also great!!

FacebookWell where do you start.
Firstly this is not a reflection on the Sales team. They have been pleasurable to communicate with but little they can do in terms of letting.
Office Manager????????? Who ?
THE LETTINGS TEAM ARE A JOKE. TIMOTHY IN PARTICULAR!!!!! NO RESPONSE, LITTLE CORRESPONDANCE AND POOR COMMUNICATION.
The background.
A young couple apply to rent a property. The young lady is 28 weeks pregnant and looking to up size due to arrival and a growing family.
Usual viewings etc takes place and an application is applied for to rent a property. All the paperwork etc is submitted and the couple await the response from letting team and landlord after compulsory checks are complete.
During this period Chancellors are advising the couple to hand notice of termination to their current letting agreement with another landlord. They DO NOT take this advice until 100% the letting agreement is signed by all parties.
This was a struggle as the letting team did not know a particular body part from their elbow.
15 Days after signed agreement an email is received from Chancellors informing the couple that the landlord has withdrawn. NO REASON OR EXPLANATION. JUST AN EMAIL. NO PHONE CALL FROM LETTING TEAM OFFERING ANY OTHER PROPERTIES OR ADVICE!!!!! JUST AN EMAIL.
There is now a young couple 28 weeks pregnant having handed in their Notice to terminate soon to be homeless.
GREAT WORK CHANCELLORS!!!!!!!!!!

GooglePlease avoid this company at all costs!
Our property is four bed, full modernized and upto date has a drive way and garage with a large landscaped garden but after 25 viewings we had no offeres. I should also state we have a young child who seen last October had 9 admissions into hospital so most occasions we had to run home to ensure the house was tidy for these viewings.
Other estate agents were contacting us saying they have sold very similar properties in our area in a matter of days.
They seem to just get anyone through the door to view your house but it doesn't mean they are getting Interested parties .
On top of this they wouldn't release us from the contract even though it clearly wasnt working out.
They are not professional, the feedback is a joke ! Mainly an email stating that the person could find something bigger cheaper in your area ( trying to get you to drive your house price down)
I found myself having to contact them for information, any viewings, times and dates etc
Not only did the manager change at the Reading branch and we weren't Informed but he continued to send us reports?
Then this company put everyone on Furlough leave and knowing prior to this that our contract was ending didn't contact me and now still have my key to my property.
All I got was if it's not an emergency they cant give me my key back and the contact they do have on duty should actually be Furlonged as they themselves are vounable. ( I have a child who in January was in PICU in John Radcliffe hospital so I understand vounable)
Excuses, lies, and a waste of time!.
So they still have my key for as long as this current situation lasts even through our contract with them has ended.
The contact they do have answering emails shouldn't leave the house but was trying to tell me they could die if they did and would need to ask the police to leave, which is misinformed information on there part.
I simply cannot be bothered to argue with them any longer but will be seeking advice from my solicitor as I have been treated very poorly throughout the time we have been on the market with them.
Go anywhere but here ! Especially if you want to sell your property!

FacebookChancellors asked several times to come and update the valuation on our property. We arranged for 1400hrs today.
At 1410 nobody had arrived and so I called the office …..
1st lie - I was told that I had cancelled the appointment by the lad who answered the phone, no I hadn't, why would I be ringing to find out where Chris was?
2nd lie - Oh we tried to ring you several times this morning to check you would be in......that's strange as I was in all morning and have no missed calls!!
Its better to tell the truth than to try and come up with pathetic excuses which can be checked.
I have told them I have no faith in them and to take me off their books.
Very disappointing service after my wife and I spent hours tidying the inside and outside of the house.

GoogleI registered with Chancellors whilst looking for a property to buy, along with many other agencies. However, Chacellors were by far the most disorganised agency and in the end I deregistered from them even though I was still looking for a house, just to stop the calls and emails. I would get constant calls and emails, sometimes from different team members within an hour of each other asking if I was still looking for a property. Once I confirmed I was I would get told “great we will send you a list of suitable properties” but this never happened. I once chased for this list of suitable properties and got sent a list of properties half of which I knew to be sold from Rightmove, which was confirmed once I asked about viewing some of them. I must have told Chancellors what we were looking for at least once a month but when we were sent property details they would be wholly unsuitable (e.g. we are looking for a period house minimum 3 bedrooms and was sent details of 2 bed flats way under budget). Couple of properties we viewed with them agent was late and a bit clueless about the house/area and got a bit sarky when we politely said one house wasn’t for us.

GoogleI moved into a property which was "fully managed" by Chancellors back in June and the lettings office was incredibly helpful through the whole process of referencing and moving in, I cannot stress enough how helpful David was during this process.
However, upon moving into the property I sent across a list of issues to our property manager and 3 months later not a single issue has been sorted despite sending multiple emails and making phone calls. These issues include improvements to the property which were agreed and signed for as part of my tenancy agreement, I had hoped that curtain rails for the windows was not a big ask but 3 months later I still have no privacy in my bedroom as it looks out to windows opposite and my front room is not being used as I'm not willing to have valuables on show to the street. Other issues include no running hot water in the bathroom sink, no gas connected to hobs, a shower that has a constant stream of running water even when turned off and many other more minor issues. They have pushed the blame onto the landlord not responding to their communications.
Even after calling to chase a response to one of my emails I was told I would get a reply by the end of the day or first thing the next day and this didn't happen, I have also sent multiple emails and had no response or even acknowledgement that they had read my email and were looking into it. This doesn't really fill me with confidence that they are doing their utmost to chase the landlord and resolve these issues.
As a tenant I'd advise you to avoid this agency as I've had bad experiences before but 3 months of waiting and still no idea when these issues will be fixed really lands this as the worst experience I've had with a letting agency.

GoogleHad a bad experience by letting chancellors manage my house in Reading, Tennat which chancellors found not only damaged the house in just 1 year but also did not paid the rent for last 2 months, chancellors who were fully managing the house could not do much except for sending few reminder letters which Tennats binned and the chancellors raised there hands and asked me to solve it myself with Tennats on top of that forced me to pay the commission for the rent which I never received. Landlords need to be careful with chancellors on how they write the contract as they just want there money without any care about landlords, I raised the issue with chancellors directors who just passed the issue to another manager who just asked to pay. I would never recommend them to any one and would never work them again.

FacebookId like to thank our property manager Simon Butt for being so helpful every step of the way with our property. It is our first rented accomodation and the house was not ready when we moved in. Locks and windows did not work, the washing machine broke within a month and service men have been called out on around 4 seperate occasions but Simon was there with an answer as soon as we asked him for help and handled everything. If not for him then the whole sitation would have been so much more stressful but he was there replying to emails and calling repairmen as soon as we found a problem. Any problems were resolved within a week or two. Thank you for all your hard work, quick responses and for being a great support line for us!

FacebookDear Chancellors team. we are extremely disappointed with the situation which resulted from your negligence.
We moved in to an apartment managed by you with a car park run by a private company. You were supposed to provide us with a parking permit for a space in that car park (as it is included in the rent) but you have not. As the move in date was Friday afternoon and we had to wait until 7pm for the cleaning company hired by you, we could not contact you about that issue over the weekend.
There was nowhere else to park outside the premise so we parked where I was supposed to and received two parking tickets on separate days as a result of that. I called you about that fact and it took you a week and a half to provide me with a replacement permit.
We felt that it is unfair for us to pay the fine since we had the right to park there. First we appealed to the parking management company trying to explain the situation and highlighting the fact that I had the right to park from day one… without any luck.
In this case we expect you to refund us a total of 120 pounds for the parking tickets as they were a result of your negligence. When presented with our position in a telephone conversation your answer was - “We are sorry for the resulting situation but there is nothing we can do about that. You will have to pay it yourself”, without even explaining why!
We don’t feel that is right. It was your responsibility to ensure that we receive the permit on the day of our move in. When we called about it being missing you were not aware of that and explained that it seems that the previous tenants did not hand it in. To our knowledge the apartment was made vacant on the 16th of June giving you two weeks to become aware of the missing permit. In any case we expected a higher standard from a large and renowned company like Chancellors and certainly better customer service. We sincerely hope that you will reconsider your stance on this matter and improve our perception of your standards.
