Aimee at right move is 100/100

The woman that assisted me is named Aimee. I’m not great with reviews but if im here for a rating then I rate Aimee 10/10 and 100/100 my experience was smooth from start to finish and Aimee was on job! I had some issues with my boss finding time for me and Aimee was patient the whole and had no problem checking in with me! I felt like she was on my side!

I have dealt with Van Mildert for less…

I have dealt with Van Mildert for less than 5 days and they have been nothing but friendly and professional. But, the thing that stands out the most has been their communication. They didn't only keep me up to date with every step, their response were immediate and they offered other options (proof of evidence) before being asked. They responded in a more than expected time frames. I can not rate the employees enough. Thank you, I couldnt recommend you enough

Absolutely awful experience

Dealing with Van Mildert has been the single most stressful experience I have ever had when trying to move house. We received an email from them and began to fill in the Referencing forms which were sent back, we then received several emails and phone calls asking us to send supporting information, which we did, we sent exactly what was asked for then received an email saying they needed something else which we sent and then received a call asking for something else. Each time we were contacted we were told something different. At one point one of their employees told me that he had sent an email to my Wife detailing exactly what we needed to send but when we checked she had had nothing at all from them.At one point I was asked by them to contact my employer and ask him to hurry up with his reference, firstly they did this the day after contacting him and secondly they are being paid to gather the reference so its down to them to do this not me.Then when my employment reference arrived with them they stated they "didn't belive it was credible" and asked for payslips and a copy of my signed employment contract, by this time I'd had enough of their BS and demanded to talk to a Manager who, of course, didn't contact me. I then rang the Estate Agents with the intention to cancel the move due to stress and hassle of dealing with this company, whilst I was in the phone Van Mildert emailed the Agent saying we had passed the referencing - I had not sent the Contract so they obviously didn't really need it. Once all this was over they then rang me to offer me insurance! NOT A CHANCE! the issues I'd have with this company I would never, ever, ever use them for something else.

Van Mildert Great Service!

In my 6 years in Manchester and 4 times moving previously, I've never had such a smooth and quick experience regarding tenant referencing; neither have I met a group of people who actions things as rapidly. The team were understanding to my needs and above all welcoming, polite and funny. Thank you Danielle, Jared, Jonathan and I think Chris who I also spoke to! Get them a pay rise aha :) Honestly, credit to the Van Mildert company and to the job.

Love Rightmove, HATE the new website

I have been using the RM website on a daily basis for years and years and have always found it to be a pleasure to use. The new website is a disaster. It's so bad that I am exploring other providers to get away from the frustration of clunking around the new RM format. It's not just that it is different, it is inferior to the previous website in multiple ways. I rarely write reviews but this is so annoying that I have to feedback. Where to start?1. As soon as I click on a property I lose the '2 bed detached' strap-line and have to go searching for that information.2. There is no logical, intuitive layout to the page. My eye doesn't know where to look for new information. I use this site daily and I still don't know where to look. A line of tabs is so simple and so quick to use, why change it? 3. With each new area that I click on I end up with a totally new layout, further frustrating my desire to know where to look for information.4. If I click on photos, I cannot step through the images with a single click, I have scroll. I should be able to do either. It feels cheap and crude.5. If I now want to go from images to a map I have to go 'back' and then search for a map link somewhere and then click that. There should be a direct link. Having clicked the map link, surprisingly it doesn't take me to a new page but drops me down the same page at which point I lose the header information. I now have to click again to go to the actual map page.6. OK, now I'm ready to look at the floor plan. I can't go straight to the floor plan from here. OK I'll go back to images first. I click on the small image at the top which takes me to... the map link?! and I have to scroll back up to the top of the page to get to the header and now search for a link to find the floor plan that I was originally looking for. As I walk through this process for the sake of the feedback I realise that once again I can't find the floor plan. Ah, I have to scroll further down the page as the floor plan link is off screen...As an aside, I also find the two images to the right of the main image on the homepage irritating in the way that they scroll as I index through but this may just be personal preference. Shall I go on? It just defies belief that this format could have been approved and released on such a major site.Just bring back the old one. Maybe do a survey of people that regularly use the site and see if there are a few tweaks to improve it?Sorry to be so negative but I am being driven away as a RM user...

Hi Andrew, Thank you for contacting us about our recent update. We make thousands of big and small changes to Rightmove every year so that it stays quick and easy to use to find your next home. We know how important the property listing pages are and we took extra care when redesigning them, and they went through lots of testing with home-hunters. We’ve given them a fresh new look, and the pages are faster to load. Our aim for the new look page is to give home-hunters a better view of a property’s features all on one page. We’ve been switching on the page to people using the site gradually so that we can make changes as we go based on people’s feedback, as we know we don’t get it right first time. We have passed your feedback on to our specialist Development Team to take into consideration. If there's anything else we can help you with please get in touch on 01908 712300 or talk-to-us@rightmove.co.uk.Many Thanks, Rightmove.

Great customer service (new tenant point of view)

Seem some negative reviews about this company, however this was not my experience. Lucy called me this morning to get some additional details about my landlord to complete the referencing check. She was very professional and friendly to talk with. As I was a bit nervous about my landlord dragging their feet, I asked about other methods to verify, and she explained all steps to me to put my mind at ease. I called back to update them on the information required, this time I spoke to Danielle. Danielle again was super friendly and updated me that my current landlord had been in touch. Just wanted to give a shout out for both of the team members I spoke to. Thank you for making the process easy and uncomplicated!

Rightmove, What Have You Done?

In respect of your new layout I totally agree with every comment other people have fed back to you. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous layout. I always use the picture enlarger and zoom facility on the floorplans and like to have the map and pictures viewable on the same screen but this isn't possible anymore. When using the new layout on my mobile in landscape mode half the picture is missing, lost to banners at the top and bottom of the screen. I have searched all over your website to see how it can be reverted back to the previous layout with no joy. Can this be done? If not can you please give us the choice or revert it back to how it was. I have been using Rightmove for many years and through personnel and business use I have viewed many properties in the UK and Europe via your website and purchased, rented and offered for rent many properties too. I don't really feel your competitors have been able to compete with you until now and I for one will wait to see what you do but will also try out the competition to make my life easier.

Very Professional

Having read some really poor reviews on Van Mildert, I was incredibly apprehensive when my partner and I were being referenced for a rental application through them. I thought after so many bad reviews it would be fair to balance the feedback with a good review! Everyone I dealt with at Van Mildert was efficient and polite. The feedback from my employer and personal referee regarding VM was also good. The referencing was done quickly and professionally and was not "invasive" as had been claimed by previous reviews. I would have no hesitation in recommending Van Mildert.

Prolonging the process with their mistakes

Van Mildert is doing reference check for us as a tenant. It is three days that a lady calls us at 5 pm and asks to sign and send landlord consent form which I do everyday. Every time I ask her call me back if you don't receive it within two minutes or confirm by email if you get it. Nothing happens and she calls me again next day at 5 pm for the same request. No problem, so far! After three days and sending what they asked for three times, I called them in the next morning and asked if they got it, and they told me yes, we received your email. However, someone again called at 5 pm and said: please send us the signed form. Please be in tune with each other. You are making this process long and waste our time!

Useless

Useless. Sent off all the information required and following had daily emails from them. They were not polite. And kept ringing me. My colleague at work also replied and sent them the information they needed. There seems to be a serious problem with lack of trust. Despite being in employment as a Junior Doctor and filling all the information as required. Asked for payment slips from work and further information. I am still not sure I will be able to move into the property as planned. This referencing company causes massive delays for both landlords and tenants, preventing prospective tenants from being able to move in and delaying landlords from receiving rent. Causes stress for tenants and the potential for their relationships to break down, meaning that people may not even want to move in with each other after using this referencing company. I think for any landlord and estate agent this is a waste of money and would suggest meeting your tenants or going directly through the estate agent. I would not recommend such a system that perpetuates lack of trust between people as may cause serious harm to individuals and their relationships. Because we may not move in at the date initially suggested by the landlord, we may now have to look at moving into another property. I think they need to wake up to the level of harm that they can cause to individuals and be polite and generally everyone should be more trusting! Companies like this are trying to make money off lack of trust a lack of kindness and compassion. In an ideal world there would be no need for these types of company. I hope that others who have had a bad experience are ok- I am sure I am not the only one to have a bad experience here! Overall causes more harm than good and in my opinion companies like this should be illegal.

Tom · 25 September 2020

Agent replied · 13 June 2024

Hi Tom,I’m sorry to hear that you are having a negative experience while being referenced by ourselves. We record all of our calls and our referencing email inbox is monitored by our head of referencing and team leaders to ensure our referencing team are representing our company values and supporting applicants through the process appropriately. If this is not the case, these interactions will be flagged and dealt with accordingly.I am also very sorry to hear you are finding the experience stressful, and that your relationship is being impacted. This is, of course, not our attention at all! We are not aiming to create or perpetuate any form of mistrust between you or your potential landlord (or your partner!). Tenant referencing is a requirement in the UK to ensure that people renting a property can afford the rental amount (which is why we perform credit and affordability checks) and are likely to pay the rent on time, every month (which is why we request employer and previous landlord references where applicable). I’ve been referenced by companies in the past (not by Van Mildert) and it is stressful; when you want a property and envision moving into your dream home with someone you love, it’s stressful when you feel that rug may be pulled out from under you by people you don’t know. In the past I have felt exactly the way you feel now.But I can assure you that it is not our intention to either fail tenants, stop them from moving into their dream home or perpetuate mistrust. It’s definitely not our intention to cause tension between applicants wanting to move into a home together and I sincerely hope that you and your partner are destressed and blissful again soon!I’ll catch up with our referencing team today to discuss the delays you mentioned. On average, our referencing takes between one and two days, but can take longer if we need more information or further checks need to be carried out. Please email customerservice@vanmildert.net with your full name and the proposed property you’re applying for and we will be able to help get this moving in the right direction. Kind regards,The Van Mildert Team

Fraud report - Great customer service

I contacted Rightmove to warn about a fraudster that illegally sublets a double bedroom in the flat he rents himself in Carville, Durham. I am relocating

I am relocating, and Rightmove at first appears to be a great asset and a very useful tool.sadly, i am losing the will to live trying to use it to identify suitable properties to travel to view. i have had enough wasted journeys already.the big problem is that the location markers on the satellite maps are very rarely correct. many point to the middle of a field or to a house that does not match the shape of the house in the photographs.the first thing i want to know about any property that has an initial interest is where is the house and how does it lie in relation to neighbours and the rest of the environment. so, a correct location marker is vital. that means i need to call the agent before i can even shortlist or reject property. the person who answers is often unable to identify the correct location, so that every enquiry results in a frustrating ping-pong of messages and calls between myself and the agent before the question is resolved.when i spoke to Rightmove by phone, they said that the agents were too lazy to sort out this issue because they use different software. when i speak to agents they tell me that Rightmove systems relocate the agents' correct position markers to the centre of the postcode. it is the 21st century. i wish they would sort it out between them. it is so widespread that i wonder if it is deliberate to generate telephone contacts. and why are railway lines missing from maps, and motorways so faint that they appear almost as minor roads.

Terry · 26 February 2020

Agent replied · 13 June 2024

Hi Terry,Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear of the difficulty you've had when checking a properties location. You're absolutely right, all properties on our website are uploaded and managed by the Estate Agent themselves, it's not something we do for them at all. Each agent will use their own systems to upload their properties and there is a large amount of third party providers for these systems so each one is different. In a property upload, GPS co-ordinates are provided for the property location. Some systems will provide the co-ordinates for the centre of the property postcode and others will pin point the specific property. If the latitude and longitude co-ordinates are incorrect, this will affect where the pin shows on the map for the listing. Only the advertising agent or, their third party system provider has access to change these co-ordinates. We don't have access to an agents systems and don't have the authority to go into an agents listings and make any changes without their consent. We appreciate the impact incorrect co-ordinates can have on a property listing and encourage all our member agents to check these details when uploading a property. What you see on a property listing is what we've received in the Estate Agents upload from their systems. We're not involved in the valuation process of a property and wouldn't know it's exact location to be able to make this change on an advert. We advise to use the map and street view feature on a property listing as a guide for the area that the property is located in and for confirmation on the exact location, to contact the advertising agent. Many Thanks,Rightmove

I feel compelled to review Rightmove…

I feel compelled to review Rightmove after their near immediate response to my request for help via their customer contact email address. I say near as I had to send 2 emails before anything was done, but at least the action was immediate upon re-sending my request. This is in complete contrast to my experience with Zoopla who still have not given an adequate response to my complaint some 2 months after I first raise it and after some emails from them that suggest they are both ignoring my actual complaint and also are seemingly trying to cover up something strange occurring on their website. I wish I could influence my estate agent to change their marketing policies based upon my experiences, but in the meanwhile I wish to thanks Rightmove for their probable realisation that it is the home owner that in effect pays for their existence even if income is generated via estate agents and other commercial bodies.

Dishonest practices. A lot of reductions are not real reductions

I have informed Rightmove several times that dishonest practices are used on their website and their data quality team has done absolutely nothing about it. As seen in previous reviews, I also have informed them that I frequently see estate agents list properties as reduced, but actually list the original price again and sometimes againand again. Or they reduce marginally once and then list the first reduction price again and again as a new reduction, but the price never changes. The third practice is to get rid of the original date by de-listing and then re-listing so as to not show how long the property has really been on the market. That is helping fraud. I understand that most estate agent are very dishonest, but Rightmove should not support it.As Rightmove doesn't seem to care I would not recommend using this website. THE REPLY BELOW IS NOT TRUE. THEY SAY IT EVERY TIME AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING. THE ESTATE AGENTS MIGHT HAVE JUST FOUND A WAY AT MANIPULATING THE SITE. MAYBE. BUT THEN THE RIGHTMOVE SHOULD NOT JUST RELY THAT THEIR EXISTING CONTROL SYSTEM IS WORKING. USERS PAY ATTENTION AND REPORT IT WHEN YOU SEE IT.

Customer · 31 December 2019

Agent replied · 13 June 2024

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to update our review. Our Data Quality team investigate all properties that have had what we call a rapid price reduction. It is something that is taken seriously by the team, and each property raised with them is looked into individually with the processes that they have in place. Where needed, appropriate action will be taken for the properties that are showing incorrectly on Rightmove and we encourage home hunters to send us over an examples they come across. A property will show as reduced once it has had a 2% price reduction, the full property details will show the date the property was very first listed, and the reduction will show within the search results. When a property is taken of the market, and then re-listed onto Rightmove, it will only show the new date if the property has been of the market for 14 weeks or more. This is a rule we are very strict with, to ensure that properties are not removed for a small amount of time, to just be sent back out in property alerts and also show as new. We currently are working on improving the processes we have in place to try and help with this. As well as our specialist team currently working on new systems to pick up on more of the Data Quality issues, and reduce the amount that are not picked up.Many thanks, Rightmove.

What they can do with your data

First contact with me was by SMS and mail as a guarantor. I looked them up They're a fast growing £2.8 million company They were asking for personal data far beyond the necessary for a credit check . So I checked them out .Their GDPR policy is full of concerns Such as"We do collect special categories of personal data about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data) criminal conviction and offences.""We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the originalpurpose.""We may have to share your personal data with the parties set out below for the purposes set out inthe table in paragraph 2 above.• Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a changehappens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way asset out in this privacy notice." Please check the document and the list out yourself as to who can access it . Look at their web page and access their own privacy policy Data is an asset so effectively they reserve the right to sell you on.Sorry but the level of data they are requesting is far too intrusive and I have multiple concerns over how they use it and who else will get it . Scam's often start with obtaining this depth of data. Your choice of using them, I cannot reflect on their service as I never got past the first stage as I had to stop my dealings with them before I started really ,ironically after having reviewed their own policy. I was only a guarantor after all. I know it's a bore but when you look at the policies of some of these services you find that you are potentially at risk of your data self being bought and sold. You have to find that out for yourself.
