When deciding to buy and sell our property, I wish I had done my research about estate agents sooner. My naivety in the process lead me to make uninformed and rushed decisions making me feel incredibly stressed and anxious and ready to pull off the market all together. Zoey McGovern from Cubitt and West turned that all around. When I met her she explained everything to me in terms I understood and at my pace. She was realistic and honest with me from the start and although their fees were higher than other agents I was dealing with, her enthusiasm for selling my property felt right. Signing her as my agent was the best decision I made as she made a substantial gain in the selling price of my property. She even said to me “I’m pleased to see you so much more relaxed.” I felt valued as a person rather than just another client on the books. What started as an awful experience with other estate agents became a successful and enjoyable one. You really do get what you pay for. I absolutely recommend working with Zoey McGovern.

They are efficient, pro active and follow up when they say they will. I applied for a rental property through Cubit and West and was given an appointment for the day they advertised the viewings. I was asked some initial questions which were to make sure I was eligible before making the appointment, I thought this was a really good way for both of us to proceed. The viewing went well and I was offered the property but due to some personal circumstances I needed to move in pretty quickly - 5 days after! I explained this to Becky and the paperwork was sent that evening and we had everything completed within 24 hours. I have to say after having a pretty horrific experience with one of their competitors I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient and helpful everyone was. I called again with a query and spoke with Marcus who again couldn’t be more helpful, he even gave me tips on what puppy I should get, it all felt like a very personal service. On moving in we discovered a problem with our boiler but we’re a bit nervous about calling the landlady so we rang cubit and west and the call was answered by Abby, we explained and even though they are not managing the property they swiftly called the landlord and had it all sorted (we were using the wrong switch)!!Overall a wonderful experience and has restored my faith!

We received excellent service, particularly from Maddison, Emily and Amelia.Right from the initial valuation visit by Maddison everyone made a huge effort to make my Aged Mother feel very comfortable about selling her house that she had lived in for about 60 years.The viewings were managed extremely well by Amelia and Emily, with due respect shown to my Mother every step of the way.The house was sold with 10 days of the initial valuation - super service and efficiency.I would highly recommend the team at Southsea and will use them again.

Claire and Cailean have given us a great service at Cubitt and West. Our first meeting was friendly, professional and informative. We didn't expect to laugh as much as we did. Subsequent enquiries have always been answered swiftly and have made the whole experience much less stressful. Cailean's advice has saved us several hundred pounds on mortgage fees. I highly recommend this team for getting a great price on your property and professionally dealing with the negotiations leading up to moving.

Getting us settled in was a smooth process. Cubitt & West was helpful and flexible. For us, the trouble started three months in when it became clear the house we rented had severe issues with black mould.When we notified Cubitt & West about the mould, as we did multiple times, they acted as if we were exaggerating and told us to wipe it all down. So we bought some heavy chemicals and masks to do so. Inevitably, the mould kept coming back. It was everywhere.After getting respiratory problems, we noticed the mould was penetrating our mattresses and cushions. With about 40% of the total floor area, the upper floor became unusable. That's when we decided to stop using the affected rooms.The real shock came when we decided to move out after almost two years. Suddenly, the black mould was a blocking issue to rent it again. The landlord would have to renovate the house. From then on, it got from bad to worse.They forced us to keep paying the rent with false promises. They told us we would get the overpaid rent back once the house was in an acceptable state again. Renovations would take no more than a week, so most of our £1500 would be returned.In the end, the renovations took more than six weeks, and we didn't see our money back. But it got worse. They also tried to use our full deposit with false claims and exorbitant renovation fees. That's when we called on the Tenancy Deposit Scheme for help.After a few more months, an arbitrator at the TDS decided we were in our right and returned the biggest part of our deposit to us. Which only confirmed that Cubitt & West mistreated us all along.For us, it was a traumatizing experience. The letting agency because quite aggressive towards us and even started screening our calls. I want to add we always played by their rules and never missed a payment. I can not advise anyone to work with them, based on my experience.

It is disappointing to learn that you have not had a positive experience, as customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us.Having had the opportunity to review your records it appears that there were no reports of mould received until you requested to end your tenancy early. Had the issues been reported sooner, they could have been investigated promptly. We appreciate that ending a tenancy and moving home can be a stressful endeavour especially when there are disputes relating to a deposit. However, as managing agents for the landlord, we are obliged to follow their instructions and request the deductions that the landlord wishes. Any disputes between the landlord and the tenant are subsequently referred to the TDS for independent arbitration. The TDS rejected some of the claims against your deposit however they noted that the mould caused by condensation should have been frequently removed and the property adequately ventilated, or, the issue should have been reported to Cubitt & West.Please be assured that our staff would never intend for any customer to feel this was as treating our customers fairly and with integrity is of paramount importance. I started a cash purchase in November 2021 it is now 14/03/2022 and still have no idea if i will ever complete this purchase. the Solicitor you recommended TQLaw is the worst of all not one single phone call from them on updates and when we call them all they can say is we have no idea when this purchase will be completed. Cubbit & West Fiveways handled the sale of our property. AN Other agent handled our purchase and bid for the selling contract... Ebba at C&W not only recommended a notably higher price, but among a stream viewings she found buyers that would pay more than the asking price!We have nothing but praise for the way Ebba and Veronica walked us through the process during selling and after - a welcome contrast to our experience with agents up the chain who would not return calls or emails, every query sent to C&W got a reply within hours, every time somebody in the office was away, the rest of the team were up to date and could access our file if we had queries (another glaring contrast to our experience with AN Other).Recommended for their ability to sell you house and their level of service throughout.
