Darlows Pontypridd - Great Team

Diane and the team in the Pontypridd branch were great when dealing with 2 properties I was selling at the same time. I dealt with both Gayle and on occasion Courtney both of whom were great. Always returning calls and keeping me informed during the selling process. Diane was particularly active in one of the sales due to the buyer and his solicitor dragging their feet as it was a development property. Thanks to Diane's tenacity we finally got over the line. Great job from the team and I highly recommend them.

Contacted Nicole mid week as I had a buy to let purchase was completing on the Friday, Nicole had viewings arranged for the following Monday, by close of business Monday Nicole rang me to confirm she had a tenant very interested in the property and ready to go if I was happy :) needless to say I was, Nicole kept me up to date through out, did all the work for me and made it super easy for me, something that I needed due to being busy myself someone to pick it up and make it seamless for me and my tenant, and thats what Nicole did. Great service and very personable great to deal with always a pleasure :)

We recently dealt with Claire Lea at the Darlows Caerphilly office, they were the last estate agent to come to our home and we almost cancelled the appointment as we had already made our decision to go with someone else, Claire Lea came in and changed our minds with ease, she gave off such good profession and confidence with no pressure at all.Before she even got back to the office we called up and decided to go with Darlows - yes they cost more, but after dealing with them we now know why.Claire was always actively working on getting our house out there and sold and we were updated daily by either Claire or a colleague - 14 days later we had an offer we were happy with and accepted! Thanks to Claire and Darlows Caerphilly we will now be receiving more money from the sale of our property than we would have if we had gone with any other agent even thought their fees were cheaper than Darlows. We couldn't be happier with the w Claire and Darlows handled our house sale and we would happily use them again and will always recommend their services, Claire in particular.Thank Darlows.

Geraint from Darlows pontypridd came to value our home, he was polite and knowledgeable about the area. Geraint was through as he went around the house making notes and taking measurements. Geraint was able to talk me through the prices in the area and establish a price for my property, he also explained how wellmy propertywould be advertised online via property sites, social media and by creating a feature video. I was very pleased with our valuation and with Geraints work. We didn't opt to instruct Darlows on this occasion purely due to the fact they dont have a branch in Aberdare so we felt we were between branches and maybe not prime position for customers visiting Pontypridd or Merthyr branches. If I had a property to sell in Pontypridd I wouldn't hesitate to use Darlows and instruct Geraint to take care of the sale.

The property I found was with 2 different agencies so I've contacted both to book a viewing, after speaking with the staff in Darlows I've decided to buy with them due to their friendliness and professionalism. I've mostly dealt Geraint who has been very helpful answered all my questions and queries. He was more than happy to show me another property as a comparison to the one I was interested in buying. After going through the buying process Geraint took me back to the house so I can take some measurements of the property as I wanted to get some kitchen appliances. What a pleasure it's been doing business with Darlows Estate Agents in Merthyr. We used them to find a tenant for my Mum's house recently and ongoing we are using their property management service too.They were super-quick at finding a tenant for us and within a couple of days, they'd checked out a prospective tenant and the deed was done! It's only been two weeks between enquiring and a tenant moving in. So much faster than any other estate agent we've ever used.Oliver and Nicole were easy to work with and I honestly can't sing their praises enough.

We dealt with Gareth in Caerphilly after a couple of unsuccessful offers elsewhere. With other estate agents, we felt that the negotiator was on the side of the buyer and communication was generally poor. But Gareth seemed trustworthy from our first dealings with him to the last, when our offer was accepted on our house. He is a very good communicator, and we felt he was completely impartial - giving us enough information to know where we were but keeping enough back to protect the seller's interests. AVOID - DO NOT RENT WITH DARLOWSDarlows are a truly shambolic agency, and would never recommend anyone buying or renting through this agency. The way that this agency treats its clients is appalling - DO NOT RENT WITH THEMMoving out/Deposit money-> Huge delay in returning deposit money-> Huge delay in writing reference for our new tenancy in Manchester which caused major delays on the other end (We moved in 3 weeks later than expected due to your agency not completing this reference, meaning I moved in the night before starting my new job).-> Nobody ever answers the phone, even after people have left voicemails saying that it's urgent we speak to someone-> It shouldn't have to take me saying I am happy to take them to a small claims court to finally get a response (in 2 minutes) from them-> The moving out information was sent to us at 6pm the night before our tenancy was due to end-> The deposit deductions were suspiciously 1/3 of the initial moneyCommunication with the team-> Under 24 hours notice when contacted for viewings the next day, usually the morning of-> Any phone calls we would get from the team would always be at the end of the day so we couldn't contact them that day, and then no one would pick up the following day-> Maintenance issues - had to wait ages for anyone to respond to issues, eventually we started reporting all of our maintenance issues privately through the flat's contractor - a lot of people don't have this luxury so would have to deal with absolutely shocking service (When the agency did respond, it was never with a maintenance person coming out to look at it themselves, but normally "Have you tried turning it off and on again?")-> The service is absolutely shocking, the team are rude and blunt and spoke to me like I was a child on the phone-> I've noticed that even though you don't answer the phone or reply to emails, you are very quick to negate any negative reviews online-> When your agents came around to show people around the flat for viewings, they knew NOTHING about the property and were claiming that our furniture was part of the flat and wanted to give it awayIssues with the property itselfThis property should NOT have been advertised as ready to move in when myself and my partner moved in.-> The electricity meter (for the entire property, not just the flat) is downstairs in a building site - this is a health and safety issue due to uneven flooring, machinery, and harmful dust/chemicals, this was also locked/boarded up on a number of occasions, leaving us without electricity and no way to top it up-> There is no internet port for the property - luckily we hadn't signed up for a minimum 18 month broadband contract at the time-> There are holes in the floorboards in the bedroom and kitchen - sometimes dust from the downstairs building site would come through, they felt very flimsy and unsafe-> The locks for the front door, and flat door, each broke a couple of times, leaving us trapped inside the property (we managed to luckily fix this issue ourselves, but can only imagine how this affect a vulnerable person)-> The curtain pole fell off entirely on its own accord, leaving cracks in the wall - could have been dangerous if someone was underneath it-> When there was heavy rain, we could see leaks in the walls/ceilings-> Due to the nature of the building site downstairs, there were a number of holes leading to the kitchen from cracks in the floorboards and gaps in the wall downstairs - This led to a mice infestation, when this was brought up with the agency (and a rent discount/refund was requested) there was no response from the team, and when they finally got back to us we were treated like it was entirely our fault with no mention of financial compensation-> This also impacted my mental health and led me to have several panic attacks due to the mice in the kitchen-> The bedroom in unbelievably tiny, and I think it is appalling that you feel like you can advertise it as a 2 bed flat for over £1000 pcmMyself and my partner have been nothing short of disappointed and appalled with our year spent with Darlows. What should have been a wonderful first living experience with my boyfriend ran in parallel to nightmare after nightmare with the property itself and with the agency.

Darlows for first time landlords…

I am using Darlows as a first time landlord, renting out my home, so no business scale. I have so far enjoyed a pleasant experience and the staff at Albany Road have been professional in their approach. I am yet to discover how our collaboration is going to work out long term, and, if needed, navigate through landlord challenges together, however I am pleased about the marketing and beginning of tenancy. There were only a few minor hiccups, such as information lost in communication and I sometimes got the impression that perhaps there is a great volume of work imposed upon a small workforce, but every issue was addressed promptly and professionally. One positive point is that throughout the process I got to meet and speak to three of their team including the manager, which is pretty much the entire branch.

Recently I got in touch with darlows and spoke to a Geraint, my apologies I cannot remember his surname, I think it could have been davies, in regard to a student flat or shared house hold after issues with my current situation. As a Property Investor, team relationships are so important for me. Relationships with Estate Agents are even more important as they sometimes get a poor press. Myself and my partner were first time buyers and had no idea about the whole process. We sat down with Richard who supported us through every step as our broker. He is friendly, kind and really knowledgeable. He made understanding difficult mortgage information enjoyable. Then we dealt with Geraint who showed us around our choice of properties. However when they were not quite the full package he took us to another property which we are now in the process of purchasing. We really appreciated him taking extra time and dedication to show us what we were looking for. Over all so far we feel that Darlows have made our experience stress free, understandable and enjoyable. The guys are lovely and caring. I would really recommend using this estate agent and their services.
