I have recently re-located with my family to the Oxford area from North Yorkshire for work and personal reasons. I decided to rent for a year to get to know the area before committing to purchasing a house. I contacted John D Wood & Co in Oxford about renting a property and they couldn't have been more helpful. From the initial point of contact through to the signature of the contract and handing over the keys they couldn't have done any more to help. I would like to personally mention and thank Jacqueline Smith (for overseeing the entire process and listening to my needs at every juncture), Celia Francis (for conducting a thorough viewing of the property and also dealing with many questions that I had - including outside what's deemed normal office hours) and Janine Riddell (for efficiently dealing with all the relevant paperwork and referencing). The team a John D Wood & Co in Oxford worked incredibly hard to arrange my tenancy and took away some of the stress that can be associated with moving house. I thank you all individually and collectively.

"The best real estate team in Oxford". I've purchased two houses from JDW, and each time their service was professional and excellent. I am Chinese and I've moved to UK three years ago. For my first home in Oxford, I purchases a small house. Sarah Hayward-Broomfield from JDW was brilliant throuhout, friendly, patient, honest, responsive to all my questions and requests. Recently, I upgradted to a bigger family house. This time, I choose JDW without a second thought. The team has done an amazing job, efficient, always keep me posted, giving me extra advice to other services that I would need for house purchase. We are using John D Wood to rent our 4-bed property in Chilton. We initially dealt with John d Wood as were were tenants ourselves. We purchased our own property and due to us relocating internationally, we had to rent our house out. We had not even considered anyone else to manage our rental. We had repeated excellent service from Jackie, ​Ceilia and Janine. The process of facilitating a clean and stress-free exit for our departing tenants, was efficient and very professional. It is especially important as we live abroad and want to ensure our property is well taken care of and left in good order, for the next tenants. Jackie and the team and John D Wood also did an excellent job at finding us new tenants and the property was occupied with two weeks. Their excellent service, especially their frequent communication and keeping us up to date with the marketing plan and progress, was of great help.

Kudos to Kate!

Kudos to Kate!! She's just amazing. As an overseas landlord, it's nearly impossible to know what's going on in my flat. But Kate is super communicative, and goes above and beyond the call of duty. In addition, I had my flat listed with another agency for months with no action. When I added John D Wood to help rent the flat, Kate found someone within a week. She's a real superstar and the company is lucky to have her. After all, what are estate agents but services from people? Without good people like her, they are nothing.

John D Wood & Co. Estate Agents in Summertown, Oxford have shown an excellent professionalism and care during my rental property hunt in 2024. As Oxford residents would know, rental market is hectic in summer; often the prices are unreasonably high and competition is overwhelming. Despite registering with almost all real estate agents in town and actively making offers to the properties, I could not rent a place for about 3 months. During these hectic times Katie from John D Wood has been a star. Unlike other real estate agents, she proactively and kindly showed me new properties and let me know the upcoming ones. I also found the prices of the property let by John D Wood more reasonable compared to others. Overall, I feel satisfied with their excellent service and rapid communication and recommend them.

I've just sold my flat with John D Wood team in Parsons Green. Molly and Adrian made a great impression on our initial meeting and Daniel Oxtoby was excellent in progressing the sale. Go ahead if you want to live through a nightmare

This is with regards to Mr David and Ms Ioana from the Docklands branch. Came home to my flat which had a leaking ceiling and that's where the nightmare started. Was not able to get any help from the agent and had to open my windows to air the carpet floor which was soaked. This was in winter, got infection due to mold from the room. Had multiple people enter my flat, take multiple pictures and videos but nothing was done. Wardrobe was destroyed due to the leaks and several of my own clothing. They did not tell the landlord at all so he was in shock when he found out. All in all took 6 months for the whole issue to resolve, and till the end of my tenancy, the wardrobe was not even fully fitted back in so I lived half a year out of a suitcase. Always impossible to get them on email, and always need to make several phone calls before I can finally get hold of them, and then I am told they were JUST about to call me back. They only treat the landlord like a god and renters like trash. Now I am trying to get my deposit back but receive no replies on email. Absolutely no professionalism. They should be ashamed of their own existence.

AVOID THIS DISHONEST AGENCY

Worst real estate agency I've ever dealt with. Almost going to bring them to court. Razvan Boerean was our property manager. We have been trying to get our deposit back for more than a year. Every time we called there was some excuse like "He's out for lunch" or "He's on annual leave soon" followed by "he'll call you back". He didn't call us back and we've had to chase our deposit for months. It's been more than a year since we moved out and still haven't gotten our deposit back yet. Furthermore, our emails are just ignored and not even an explanation for such a delay or the costs of any deductions was given. Our naivete has been taken advantage of because we didn't know that our deposit insurance only lasted for 3 months and now they are very obviously just trying to steal our deposit. I have sent the last email to them with a 14 day deadline for an explanation or my deposit back. In a week if I don't receive anything I will take all the evidence I have and bring them to court. Avoid this unscrupulous company for your own safety.

I began renting my flat with John D. Wood, Fulham Road, in 2010. I live in Edinburgh, so it was important for me to have good management and choice of tenants. in both these area they have been exceptional. They dealt promptly with any issues. in particular the management of Eduard Popa and Stephen English have been first class. I decided to sell the flat this April. Huw Jones has been in charge, and once again his service has been first class. A number of people looked at the flat, I selected a buyer, and we conclude next week. Radyah Sultana at Docklands & City office, who is in charge of the paperwork, was so rude, unprofessional, dishonest and impatient. I have received passive-aggressive threats from her and had a really bad experience.We worked smoothly with Egle and David, and paid the deposit very early.However, the contract was ready only 3 days before moving in, even though all the reference checks were ready two weeks ago!I understand that Radyah was sick for a few days, but I am unhappy that she made an excuse and LIED that the reference checks were just done yesterday. Now because of her inefficiency, I have to be efficient.Well, I am a customer, and she is the god.

AVOID JDW AT ALL COSTS

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not subject yourself to the JDW Weybridge office if you can avoid it - they have provided easily the worst service we have ever experienced. We have been renting for 3 months in a JDW managed house. There are multiple material ongoing issues from a leaking roof to broken heating and the agent does not do anything about - for months. We have a 1 year old child who is suffering constant sickness now. They have lied to us about repair parts being ordered and have not held the landlord accountable for fixing anything. Jazz Dillon is of particular incompetence. She has promised us a call with senior management and of course, radio silence.

Customer Service on Permanent Lunch Break

I’ve called multiple times regarding a property and was repeatedly told I’d receive a call back either by end of day or the next working day. This has never happened. I even tried submitting an enquiry through Rightmove, but nothing would go through. It’s honestly ridiculous, either don’t promise to call back, or live up to the expectations you’ve set yourself. The lack of basic communication is highly unprofessional and very disappointing.
